Avatar n tn by now there are many books on fibromyalgia. Then I would try to find a holistic nutritionist and a naturopath who can help guide you, since the community of alternative practitioners has been scattered due to the monopoly power of Whole Foods and the growth of the industry. Then pick something and try it; if it doesn't help, try something else. Use what you like from allopathy, use what you like from alternative medicine.

462570 tn?1273636577 Just recently diagnosed with FM. Doc. prescribed LYRICA. Is anyone out there taking it? If so, how have you responded? Any side effects? I really want to believe that this drug is gonna help but I am skeptical and really fear taking something that is classified as an "anticonvulsant". Does anyone out there with FM/CFS ever tried Alternative Medicine for treatment? Holistic medicine? Eastern/Chinese - Aryuvedic Medicine? Herbal Supps? I read that St.

5682570 tn?1372290919 My daughter who's a holistic health practitioner and aromatherapist uses a few drops of Organic Peppermint Oil over the itchy areas. You may also try Aloe Vera gel, as this works well too. On the scalp though, hmm, I bit too messy. ACV (apple cider vinegar) diluted with water for the scalp may help , but do a test on a small area first, just in case you react. For the tingling and numbness on your nose and perhaps the itchiness as well, check out the following possibilities: 1.
1943833 tn?1349280189 I have wondered often over the last few years if I have Fibromyalgia, but have never asked a doctor about it because I don't seem to have the tender points. I'm wondering how many of these symptoms are "common" for fibromyalgia. Or maybe CFS? -occasional severe sensitivity to noise. I can be sitting in a room, with people around me and noises I would normally not mind (kids playing, etc) will "hurt". I don't really have a headache, and it's not an actual pain.
Avatar f tn Hello, What types of doctors have you seen to diagnose your Fibromyalgia? Have you seen a Rheumatologist? Or did your PCP doctor diagnose your Fibro? Rheumatologist are actually the doctors who created the criteria for diagnosing Fibromyalgia and without seeing a Rheumatologist, your diagnosis may be weak if you ever were to require a medical leave or disability assistance.

Avatar n tn Psoriatic arthritis is what got set in motion by the infection initially but docs do not listen to what their patients tell them and if they had in my case looked into my history there might have been clues but no the only thing they look at nowadays is bloodtests and if they are normal you are going to get the gentle exercise and anti depressant treatment treatment with no regard for the chaos your suffering has impacted on your life.
Avatar f tn So I saw my Dr today and he diagnosed me with fibromyalgia and Im just not sold on the diagnosis. He says the lack of sleep from the fibromyalgia is causing the difficulty breathing. Has anyone else of heard of this because I cant seem to find anything showing where these 2 are related.

446049 tn?1538871187 Has anyone gone through this treatment for pain in the thoracic spine area? If so, would you be kind enough to describe the treatment(s) and how they helped? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn has anyone tried coconut oil to treat fibromyalgia with any success? My fibro started after a viral infection...then I had terrible muscle spasms and a strange weakness in my neck, as though I could not hold up my head. I had a lot of pain in my hips, buttocks, and upper back in the trapezius area. I was at the end of perimenopause and I had recently stopped taking birth control pills. The spasms stopped after a couple of months and my doctor put me on trazadone.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar f tn Hello, Has anyone done anything that actually helps the post treatment symptoms, fatigue, lethargy, depression, etc? There are thousands of posts regarding this situation, but I haven't seen anyone talking about things that they have tried that worked. I am also curious if there is any research out there about what actually happened to our bodies that caused these continuing conditions? Someone must have done some research, but I have never been able to find anything published.
1236629 tn?1268888364 I still do not know if it is a Corticosteroid or not??? It was given to me by a Fibromyalgia doctor saying that it will only give a chance to the Adrenals to rest and replanish while another holistic doctor has told me that it can actually make the Adrenals more lazy and they will start producing less and less of what they should be producing. Instead of the Cortisol the second doctor recommends supplements like Adrenal Responce and other things. Which doctor is wright?
475586 tn?1225027354 He seems sure that other than my knees and my neck, what I have is fibromyalgia. I have pain all the time, aching and soreness and also the sharp, stabbing pains. I also have problems walking without pain, and now my feet are starting to bother me. I don't really have any answers, but just know you are not alone. I would say, however, for a rheumatologist to treat you that way is disgusting and I would find another one immediately. These doctors are so obnoxious sometimes.

Avatar m tn To date, no study has been performed in the United States examining the clinical effects of Pregabalin (Lyrica) in IBS patients. FYI, there are high placebo rates for IBS, making us question the "actual " therapeutic effect of pharmacological treatment, when the placebo effect is taken out of the equation, in light of the possible adverse side effects. Ref.
5628073 tn?1371225975 You may try the remedies I mentioned for relieving your itchiness, however, if you are truly interested to pursue the Neurotransmitter issue and hopefully get to the bottom of this, either find the right Holistic Doctor, ND or Holistic Practitioner to help you. This information is part of a study(among many other studies) I'm doing for my Naturopathic training. There may be other causative factors, however, the aforementioned -without any clinical examination- stands out.
Avatar n tn If you leave it up to your doctors, you'll get the standard FMS treatment, which is moderately effective at best, for most Fibromyalgia sufferers' symptom management. Things to look for are: 1. Neurotransmitter dysregulation 2. Inflammatory processes- Tumor Necrosis factor A. 3. Underlying Infectious conditions like Pathogenic Mycoplasma and Co-infections. Also candidiasis. 4. Metabolic dysfunction, high Tartaric Acid. 5. Nutritional deficiencies including TISSUE minerals. 6.
