Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia headaches and neck pain

Avatar f tn You might ask your dr to let you try Lyrica. You start off at a lower does, then increase it slowly. It helped me with a lot of the muscle spams and pain. But since I am also type2 diabetic, I had to quit taking it as I gained weight on it. I've read that is the main side effect. Neurontin also is good for muscle pain. Good luck, and stay warm this winter. The cold seems to worsen the symptoms.

Avatar f tn I am 33 and I feel so old b/c of the constant aches and pains! I have Fibromyalgia and Bulging/Herniated Discs in my Neck, and Many other Health Issues as you can see in my profile! First of all if you have Fibromyalgia there is something called the Fibro Fog, where you have a hard time concentrating and verbalizing! I personally think the most Prominent Symptom of Fibro is the Pain.
Avatar n tn I have developed a bad sense of smell it is like a strong sweet/sour smell like a bad doughnut and bad headaches and stiffness in my neck. I have gained around 40 pounds over the last few years because of inability to exercise as I once did and I am struggling with depression. Does all of this go along with the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia, or have I just been dumped into a pot because they do not really know what is wrong?

Alot of doctors don't take fibromyalgia serious, but then on the plus side alot of them do. I have been lucky enough to find a doctor who takes fibromyalgia completely serious. I live in Kentucky, and I see a doctor in North Carolinia. With the correct treatment, you can feel better. - I hope everything works out. Good luck.
Avatar f tn neck, shoulders, upper back, lower back, hips, chest, breast bone (especially to the sides of it), left arm, abdomen Muscles are tender when I touch them, especially arms and thighs Hypoglycemia Weight Gain I've had heart tests, stomach tests, blood tests. Nothing shows up. I'm getting very frustrated and discouraged! Does this sound like it could be fibromyalgia? My only "tender spots" that react for me are my elbows, hips and inner knees (not as painful as hips and elbows).
Avatar f tn For the past 5 1/2 years I have had chronic pain in my arms, legs, shoulder and neck. Doctors have done MRI's, an EMG which showed a pinched nerve, a myelogram with a cat scan which showed a perfect spine and no pinched nerve. The pain is unbearable, I have headaches all the time, weakness in my left arm and shoulder, tingling and lightening bolt pains and spasms that shoot down my back and down my legs.
1033336 tn?1252509731 The characteristic feature of Fibromyalgia is a muscle pain mostly in neck, back, thighs, and hips. There is presence of specific tender points in these areas that trigger the pain. Along with this there is morning stiffness in the muscles, brain fog, dizziness and other neurological symptoms. Since you are suffering from pain specifically located at the joints, and it started after the flu, the pains are related to the viral infection.

3202069 tn?1345408082 Part of the problme with the fibromyalgia is I get headaches because of the tension in the muscles in my neck. I was hospitalized a few months ago with chest pains and they said it was because the muscles around my heart were tightening up from my fibromyalgia causing me to feel like I was having a heart attack. I have tried Lexapro, Cymbalta, Sevella, and numerous drugs but to no avail. Diet is the most important. Yeast breads, pizza, sodas and staying away from sugars and alot of carbs.

Avatar n tn I have been sufferring with a headache since March of '99. It was a sudden onset, like someone had just kicked me in the head. It changes in severity - most of the time manageable with motrin but since Dec. '99 has gotten steadily worse. I have occassional attacks that are intolerable and must go to the emergency room. I have been given a CAT scan which was clear. I do not get nauseaus and migraine medications do not work.
6726276 tn?1421130268 Let me add pain was not just my head, it was in my neck down through my shoulders and upper back. My neck and back were inflamed, tight, and in knots...I had gone from just bothersome headaches, to severe headaches, to migraines, to severe pain that was starting to travel down my body. Sometimes, it hurt just to take a shower, I would have to sit on the floor to wash my hair because it was too painful to raise my arms.

So far there hasn't been one positive diagnosis and in some cases dentists have referred patients to oral surgeons for needless wisdom tooth extraction.

Avatar f tn Many of the symptoms you've described do sound a lot like fibromyalgia. Many fibro patients also suffer with IBS, TMJ (jaw pain) and headaches. I'm glad to hear that you have a doctor's appointment set up. I suggest you make a list of your symptoms, what you've tried to relieve them, what has worked, what hasn't worked, anything that makes it better or worse, what time of day seems the worst (if applicable), etc.
454221 tn?1259449339 Hi, I'm 33 y/o female, mother of 4, and have had a headache and neck pain for a couple of weeks now. It comes and goes. I feel fine sometimes and then it will come and bug me for a while and maybe feel better again later. No certain time of day that this happens. I don't know what is causing this. My doctor thought it could be due to my seasonal allergies, but not sure if that what is causing it.

Avatar n tn My family doctor is an osteopath and he wants me to make an OMT appointment with him so he can try and help me with some of the pain and muscle tension. I really hope he can. Avatar n tn I should take Dolan for the neck pain and weakness. I think it makes me nervous and causes tremor which symptoms I already had before the medicine. Doctors have suggestedted many diagnoses, not very seriously. They don't want to clear up the situation. Polymyalgia, vasculitis myasthenia gravis, TIA, otosclerosis ?? They say that the neck weakness does not result from hyperparathyroidism. What is the cause for it?
434278 tn?1324709825 needles/burning/numbness/itching/scalp pain/headaches and the increased pain in my muscles. He just flippantly remarked that it was due to my fibromyalgia and he just considers that a nuisance. So now I know that a lot of my issues are due to the fibromyalgia and am working to try and determine when it is fibro or Lupus. He didn't seem to care about treating it, just said that the depression meds I am on will help me sleep and thus help the fibro.
Avatar f tn I can't sleep more than a few hours with all the pain in back, neck, back of my head and shoulders waking me up. I just wanted to know if anyone over 50 years old had their rods removed and if there was any improvement in the pain at all after the removal and/or if you were glad that you had the rods removed. I want relief DESPERATELY but do not want to spend the rest of my life medicated on drugs only to slightly benefit me with minimum or barely any relief or improvement with the pain.
