Fibromyalgia causes depression

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia causes depression

7450908 tn?1390999921 I was diagnosed with fibro about 18 years ago. I've been using Lyrica & was using Cymbalta for a while as well. I quit using the antidepressant because it seemed to make the depression worse. I'm on low income & I'm telling this medication is getting so expensive that I have a hard time affording to buy just a months worth at taking one a day. At certain times of the year I have to take more than one a day. Is there a more natural way to deal with fibro?
Avatar n tn I have Fibromyalgia and now they are checking me for Cushings is there any relationship?
Avatar f tn Does anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia know of the best medication to take to help relieve the discomfort associated with this disease?
2010625 tn?1329375656 I was just wondering what causes Fibromyalgia? Can Anxiety, Depression/Bipolar, IBS, or Genital Herpes cause it?
1023657 tn?1251848541 I am sorry to know that you are suffering from Fibromyalgia for 15 yrs. It is sad but true that the origins and causes of Fibromyalgia Syndrome are unknown. There have been many suggestions regarding the cause but a definite cause is still not known. Some studies show that reduced blood circulation into the muscle cells causes damage to the energy producing mechanism, which causes the deficiency of energy in muscle tissue.
1550149 tn?1340004330 In primary fibromyalgia (also called idiopathic fibromyalgia) the causes are not known, and in secondary fibromyalgia the causes can be identified. Primary fibromyalgia is the more common form. Many experts believe that fibromyalgia is not a disease but rather a chronic pain condition brought on by a constellation of dysfunctional biologic responses to stress. Such individuals are thought to be more susceptible to stress because of traumatic personal histories, genetic factors, or both.
Avatar n tn Hi All. (2nd posting sorry I posted in the wrong spot at first) I don't know if I have fibromyalgia so maybe you can all offer some advice. I am 36 year old female. About 8 weeks ago I noticed my left arm was difficult to drive with and it really struck me as beign strange. It felt heavy. I thought it felt weak but looking back 'heavy' is a more accurate term. I went to my dr. who sent me to a neuro. By the time I saw the neuro I was conviced that I had ALS. Convinced.
Avatar n tn I am only 25 and have all the symptoms of fibromyalgia, CFS and MCS. I am unable to get out of bed some days but because of my young age my doctor is not seeming to take me seriously. He tests my thyroid and iron levels and many other things, but has not sent me to a fibromyalgia specialists. Also I have not been able to get disability cheques, so I am on government assistance:(. Does anybody more experienced have any advice for me? This can be quite stressful.
434278 tn?1324709825 The pain across the back of your shoulders is very typical of fibromyalgia. It is not uncommon for lupus patients to also have fibromyalgia. The one thing that seems to help with fibro is sleep. I take a benadryll and a melatonin to help me sleep. I'm not saying that you only have lupus. I was also told that all I had was fibro and deep don I knew I had more than fibro. I know people w/ fibro and they have never been as sick as I was.
875863 tn?1271606985 Hi! I have Fibromyalgia, Asthma, IBS, and both incontinences along with Major Clinical Depression. I have been working with a Chiropractor for over 20 years. I have "episodes" we call them, of extreme weakness, where I have no choice but to lay down, and compose my muscles until I can move again. It feels like little electrodes sputing from the bone outward like tiny lighning bolts when it begins. It protudes throughout my body.
1075109 tn?1281839291 I already take one as a mood stabiliser and I have ensured that the 2 do not clash but as it stands now Fibromyalgia causes depression and sleep problems which kicks my Bipolar into high gear and causes Anxiety which in turn agravates the Fibromyalgia. Vicious Circle. Thank you for your reply but it was definately in the wrong direction. Sue.
2126606 tn?1346348724 • Widespread pain • Extreme fatigue • Depression • Anxiety • Headaches • Tender points • Sleeplessness While the causes of fibromyalgia are unknown, many researchers believe the condition can occur from hormone imbalances that affect the central nervous system, as well as stress, illness or certain types of trauma.
1692515 tn?1306273648 I don't think doctors really know all of the causes for Fibromyalgia. Anything is possible. Very likely, as with me, you have had vitamin D deficiency, too. That was one of the reasons I was finally diagnosed myself. Since I know vitamin D deficiency has been noted as a root cause for why some people get Parkinsons, then I know vitamin D is important for neurological function. Also, be sure to have your vitamin B 12 tested.
Avatar f tn Which i desperately wanted to believe but in the last six months it has got so bad i have to face the fact it is probably a lot worse!! I came across Fibromyalgia on the internet last week. Could this be the cause of my suffering???
Avatar m tn I went to a chiropractor for the first time yesterday and she asked me about fibromyalgia because I am so very tender and tight. She thought I should be checked out. So I am thinking about going to a rheumatologist soon although my mom doesn't think this is the problem. I am a 30 yr old female. I am also tired all the time. I have some problems going to sleep but after I do get to sleep I never want to get up. When I do get up I feel unrested and tired the whole day.
573297 tn?1304712740 Fibromyalgia causes anxiety, depression, mood swings, nausea, constipation, etc..... Now that I know I have fibromyalgia I def know I am not bi polar but my doc still makes me take the bi polar meds. I think to much is over diagnosed its easy for a doc to just throw a label on you so keep fighting and get as many docs opinions as you can dont just except the one.
554442 tn?1221238825 Fibromyalgia (FMS or Fibro for short) is a chronic condition which causes widespread pain and fatigue as well as a variety of other symptoms. The name Fibromyalgia comes from "fibro" meaning fibrous tissues (such as tendons and ligaments), "my" meaning muscles, and "algia" meaning pain. Fibro does not cause joint pain or swelling. The pain from Fibromyalgia is produced in the soft tissues of the body, including the muscles and tendons. http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn Severe all over muscle aches, severe fatigue, depression and loss of appetite. Has seen PCP, neuro, and Rheumatologist with no diagnosis. Is completely debilitated, lying in bed for 4-5 days. Has anyone diagnosed with Fibro. experienced anything like this? I would appreciate any response. Thank you.
Avatar n tn there are lots of safe drugs out there for fibromyalgia..i often think the narcotics helped the depression more than the pain that accompanies fibromyalgia...
1069644 tn?1276932463 I think it is a matter of what the doctors can track, which is obviously not the same as what the patient experiences over time. Since it is not understood what causes fibro or what damage it causes, the effects of fibro can not be measured or monitored with time. Therefore, it is said to not be progressive. However, as you can read from patient testimonials, the day-to-day symtpoms and quality of life can be affected in a way that worsens over time.
659608 tn?1318292966 And, as bad as this pain is, I'm not willing to have to end up going to some awful pain management clinic or some methadone clinic to break the addiction cycle that this stuff causes. Because the truth is, the legal stuff causes just as many problems as the street stuff.
Avatar f tn Excuse my poor grammar. I think it is the brain-fog and I also just woke up !

215021 tn?1224886057 RedLabsUSA is a national lab that apparently is able to diagnose both Fibromyalgia and CFS. The test is still a research test at this time. So there is a fibromyalgia - thyroid connection, but there are also people who have been misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia. And on top of that... some fibromyalgia patients can go for years without a fibro-flare.
Avatar f tn I have had several doctor friends (one a DO, an orthopidist and even the nuero I have seen) tell me that Fibromyalgia is not a diagnoses. Because there is no test that proves that that is what you have or even tells you what the cause is from. And that after that diagnoses is made other doctors will not treat pain as any thing other than that when it could be something, but they just tend not to look.
Avatar m tn I really don't thing they cause Alzheimer's or Dementia but memory loss can be quite varied in degree. I've been on Xanax .5mg for anxiety, agitation, depression for about 2 years. About 6 months ago I've found that my memory is profound compounded by disorientation. Like you, I lose things break china and glassware regularly. Don't know the day of the week the date and even the time of day. Just the other night I had taken a nap woke up and jumped on here thinking it was 7:30am.
