Avatar f tn Hey nailbox.(That's quite original) Welcome to the forum! Can't say that your case is unique, as two thirds (2/3rds) of patients on gabapentin will experience adverse effects. There may be some changes in your symptoms, better or worse, more or less, if you wish to stick with it. You may also want to look into Picamilon , made by combining a GABA derivative and Niacin which is sold as an OTC dietary supplement in the U.S.A. Not sure where you live.
Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? What other symptoms are present?Fibromyalgia presents with a long-term, body-wide pain and tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues. Avatar f tn Please if someone can help, I regularly have chronic pain in all parts of my body since I have 4 bulge discs on my cervical and lumbar, scoliosis, stenosis, fibromyalgia, multiple spasms on my cervical and sciatica I also have fibromyalgia and a Chianti malformation.
Avatar m tn Any physical or emotional trauma can cause a flare up of fibromyalgia symptoms. It is best to seek a second opinion and have a discussion on the possible alternatives, especially conservative treatments if possible. In fibromyalgia medicines should always be used along with exercise and behavior therapy. Consult an experienced doctor. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!

Avatar f tn Absolutely yes! Fibromyalgia can be caused by physical trauma and/or emotional trauma... Also, my Rheumatologist explained to me that Fibromyalgia often times, more times than not... is an underlining condition of another medical condition such as Rheumatoid Arthritis and other auto-immune disease(s).
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia can be caused by trauma, stress, an illness, PTSD, or fever. And yes, it can run in families. Fibromyalgia should be suspected by the pcp when the pt has widespread pain for more than 3 months. There are trigger/tender points in the same places on both sides of the body. Wrists, ankles, neck, shoulders, elbows, buttocks, knees are the most common. Also migraine headaches and stomach issues such as IBS. Muscle spasms are also common.
Avatar m tn One theory about Fibromyalgia, is that it can be caused by physical and emotional trauma to the body, which creates an over sensitization of pain by the central nervous system, which is part of your brain's regulatory system. It's unlikely that even if you're fiance is cured from the virus that her body will "forget" the pain and remember how to feel normal again. She will need help.
Avatar f tn Unexplained pains, sometimes the bones paining and sometimes the muscles can be due to a problem called ‘fibromyalgia’. This is associated with fatigue and a heightened and painful response to gentle touch (allodynia). Other symptoms include needle-like tingling of the skin, nerve pain, muscle aches and spasms, weakness in the limbs, functional bowel disturbances, and chronic sleep disturbances.
Avatar f tn These sound like the initial symptoms of fibromyalgia. This is a common syndrome where one experiences long-term body pain and tender points in joints, muscles, tendons, soft tissues. possible triggers for fibromyalgia includes physical or emotional trauma, an abnormal pain response, sleep disturbances with some of these clinical features like chronic neck or back pain, chronic fatigue syndrome and depression.
Avatar n tn certain possible causes of muscle twitches are muscle fatigue, anxiety, certain medicines, caffeine, stroke, multiple sclerosis, trauma to the nerves and nervous system disorder. It may be seen in association with fibromyalgia syndrome. This need to be investigated by a neurologist and treatment would depend on the diagnosis. Certain stretching and exercise, massaging the affected muscle, medicines like klonopin may help stop the twitches and spasms.

Avatar f tn with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I have a neck injury from prior domestic abuse. I am getting worse. I don't know where to turn next to get help. I am frustrated at 3 hours a day I have to do something and then I have to lay down. Anyone know of any more tests to ask for, any new diagnoses? I am on Cymbalta and Percocet 5 mg. I hurt. I hurt so bad. Sometimes it feels like my bones ache. I would love to look up or try your ideas for something to help.
Avatar n tn I also experience muscle stiffness and cramping in my right calf and, as of today, also in my left leg and calf. I have been told by my primary care doctor and my neurologist that I have benign fasciculations and not ALS based on bloodwork, physical exams and symptoms. However, I am still concerned because the cramps seem to be getting worse. I even have cramps/fatigue in my upper right arm now, especially in the morning. I am concerned about fibromyalgia now.

Avatar f tn I happened on your post thanks to Selma and a post she made to me on another topic. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (FMS) in April 2008. There were quite a few missteps on the road to my diagnosis but I've learned that is not uncommon. As Selma mentions, I believe you should try to be seen by a rheumatologist. Do not think it is all in your head; it is VERY real. I am on Lyrica and it was made a world of difference.

1640056 tn?1362508710 Hi there, yes my rhuematologist did. Actually she flat out asked if I had been abused as a child!!!! I haven't and I was completely shocked and really just thought she thinks it's all in my head.Maybe she doesn't I don't know but as for any trauma in my young life? I don't think so. Just lifes normal ups and downs. Seems to me the medical profession cannot explain fibromyalgia so they come up with all sorts.
