When I delivered my second baby 2 years ago I didnt have anything, but about 45min after the delivery they gave me fentanyl (which i was told is the replacement for stadol nowadays) because i had to have the doc scrape tissue out of my uterus because i was hemmohraging. But it (fentanyl) was really calming, although I'm not sure how much 'pain relief' it actually provided. I had stadol with my first 9 years ago and hated it, I felt drunk/high/loopy and it just made me tired.
This is my 3rd pregnancy.
With my first, I was given cervadil to help induce labor, this was done at 5pm, at around 10pm the nurse gave me a shot of demerol to help me sleep cause nothing was happening. By midnight labor started and out she came 2.5hrs later, very fast! I don't consider this being medicated just cause it was done 4hrs before I was pushing.
With my second, I went into labor on my own and was really fast too.
I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge
.I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?
I asked if I could bring my unused fentanyl patches in to the office for destruction and then receive a prescription for an equal number of patches, which I would then fill with my preferred (Mylan) brand that has adhered more consistently to my skin. I also mentioned that I was still experiencing breakthrough pain, as I wrote above, and that I would appreciate the opportunity to talk with my physician at my next scheduled appointment about pain management.
my life has changed. I was told by the doctor I had been seeing for years, that I would be on the fentanyl for the rest of my life. I was so depressed. I was always in pain...my quality of life was just awful. I have been very hesitant to post about this, because suboxone is usually used for addiction...and isn't widely used in pain management.....but it is the best pain reliever I have had over the past 5 years of pain and surgeries.... On the fentenyal patch and told my us came back positive for oxycodone how is this possible?
I am currently taking Opana ER 30mg /2 TID for long term spinal pain due to breaks and fusions. I am going to try replacing that for a short time with a Fentanyl Patch to see if I have any improvement in Pain Mgmt. I am just wondering what regimen I should use to safely do this. For example. Is it as easy as waiting 12 hrs. after my last Opana ER and then apply the patch (it's a 3 day patch) then take another ER once the 3 days has expired?
im in detox from fentanyl. my dr. prescribed wellbutrin for 30 days. I was on 50 mg so I was given 25mg and wore the patch for 4 to 5 days before putting on a new one. after my last patch I started on xanax for withdrawls symtoms and put on a catapress patch. this worked real well and I feel like im starting to feel good. there are times my skin hurts and muscles hurt so that's where the xanax helps. I had neck surgery to replace a blown disc and know what pain is like.
Recently my oncologist of a year at the same clinic that put me on the fentanyl 5 years ago has decided she wants me to go off fentanyl and take methadone instead. I will have to be hospitalized and go through detox for a week, but I havent heard much in the way of assurance that methadone will be able to control the pain I will have again if it doesnt work. I have asked what my options will be and I am told "she doesnt have time to teach me".
I was on percocets 325 for 6 months, then on the 24mg of fentanyl for 1 month, now I'm in week 2 of 12 mg, and ready to not put another one on, i realized that the one I had on wore off when I couldn't sleep last night, and made the decision not to put one back on. it had to happen one day. I don't feel too bad, my arms hurt, not sick, but had a hard time sleeping. I'm considering asking for a wd drug like clonadine... not sure, going to talk to the pains drs about it.
What is the greatest help for the insomnia when getting off of Fentanyl? My nights are like HELL. I sleep for about 1 hour, wake up, then have a terrible time getting back to sleep. I did not want to do it but just started taking Suboxone because I cannot imagine going back to work tomorrow without anything for withdrawal and severe back pain.

00 am and they disregarded my feeling I was in labor and told me to drink some water and lay down for an hour then call them again. I ignored them and had my husband drive me to the hospital. Took half hour to get a doctor to check me which by that point I was having contractions every 1-3 minutes. I was at 8.5 cm when they checked me and I got a shot of fentanyl before being moved into a real room and getting my epidural.
doctor about 4 months ago and i started taking 12 mic fentanyl patch.I am now up to a 25 mic patch and a 12 mic patch every 2 days the problem is I feel I am in even more pain now. I had no clue how strong this med is. I lost my insurance last week and i knew that i could not afford the doctor and for sure could not afford the meds. So without talking to anyone i stopped the patches and it has been only 26 hours. I can not sleep and I feel shakey and cant seem to sit still. can some one help?
I have an unusual situation. Our 17-year-old cat Bubbles has a rare form of cancer. Our vet has prescribed Fentanyl pain patches for him. We clip/shave a spot on his back where he can't reach the patch and replace it every 2 to 3 days. It works great on his pain. The problem is that the adhesive on the patch is so sticky that I can't get it off. It's awful. I've tried pulling it off like a BandAid and ripped his hide right off.
If you're talking about 9 each of 100 mcg fentanyl patches that are each worn for three days, then yes you'll be right back in the toilet again. If you wear them properly, that's 100 mcg each hour for three days, which means you have nearly a month supply of fentanyl patches. If you abuse them further, meaning take them in any way other than wearing each of them for 3 days, you're still in big trouble.
I used about an 1/8 of a 100 mcg fentanyl patch for the past month to manage my additction without "getting high" while waiting for an appointment with a suboxone doc. Long story short decided to screw to suboxone go cold turkey and begin vivtrol injections. However, I have done some research and have noted that these patches have a long half life i am 72 hours clean right now and feeling well enough to eat and type at a computer...
