It now makes perfect sense to me why you are in so much pain on the Fentanyl. Converting 360 mg of Oxycontin to Fentanyl results in 150 mcg/hr...this is conservative. Converting Fentanyl to equal 360 mg of Oxycontin with the opioid calculator results in 300 mcg/hr. This is the largest dose conversion that is shown in the fentanyl prescription leaflet that comes in the box with the medication. So your doctor's thoughts that you need to keep going up on the Fentanyl patch are CORRECT.

When I delivered my second baby 2 years ago I didnt have anything, but about 45min after the delivery they gave me fentanyl (which i was told is the replacement for stadol nowadays) because i had to have the doc scrape tissue out of my uterus because i was hemmohraging. But it (fentanyl) was really calming, although I'm not sure how much 'pain relief' it actually provided. I had stadol with my first 9 years ago and hated it, I felt drunk/high/loopy and it just made me tired.

Just awful...Fentanyl is bad sh!t in any form! I hate the stuff, even in a controlled environment! I'll bet she'll plead to a lesser charge though...

Just curious? A friend of mine told me she's on fentanyl patches. We got into a slight conversation, becuz I told her I was detoxing off percocets.(proudly I might add), she said it was an opioid. So my question is, does opioids do the same thing as far as our receptors, and endorphins in our brains from percocets. With the patch she said she has never felt the things I described to her. I was just curious, does fentanyl patches work the same way as percocets?

I've just been switched from Fentanyl 25mcg every 48 hrs to Oxymorphone 10mg every 12hrs. I feel way worse (pain) & was wondering if anyone knows what the equivalence is between the 2. I have a feeling I've just been decreased in pain relief. My dr & the pharmacist told me to wait a few days to "feel it's working" & in the meantime I'm in excruciating pain. Can anyone help with what I can do here? Btw...

what is the half life of oxycodone in cats? I've heard it works well for pain in cats. I'm trying to get more information on what may help my 12 year old cat. I'd like to have my questions in order before I pay my/her vet?

It takes a little longer for the withdrawals because Fentanyl stays in your system so long. Figure at least 7 days for you to start to feel better. I had points during the 5 and 6 day where I felt half way normal. I made sure to get outside. I hate to say this but tomorrow is going to be worse. It took a good 24-36 hours before I was in serious withdrawal. Keep talking with us and I will help as much as I can. Do you have help for the first few days? Can you find help?

You need to stay very well hydrated. Someone with more experience with the patch will post shortly. Hang in there. Do you have Epsom salt for hot baths?

Have been on Fentanyl patches 125/hr every 48 hours and 4-5 Percocet daily plus maybe 8 10mg Vicodin a day. How long before starting the Suboxone should I stop all of these meds. I have Clonidine for withdrawals how can it help. I am scared to death. Have never been in withdrawal from Opiates. I was told 36 hours prior but am so afraid of precipitated withdrawals. Has anyone been here that can give me some advice?

00 am and they disregarded my feeling I was in labor and told me to drink some water and lay down for an hour then call them again. I ignored them and had my husband drive me to the hospital. Took half hour to get a doctor to check me which by that point I was having contractions every 1-3 minutes. I was at 8.5 cm when they checked me and I got a shot of fentanyl before being moved into a real room and getting my epidural.

It may not replace the fentanyl but it will easily cut it in half and allow you to sleep.

Hi Sam, Sorry, I had the same reaction to the Fentanyl Patch. With each application the red raised hive like rash became worse and in short time spread to my entire back where I was applying them. My physician said I was allergic to the adhesive on the patch, not the Fentanyl. She tried a potent cortisone cream to help the reaction but that too failed. I cannot take Fentanyl because of the severe adhesive allergic reaction.

Hi everyone, I was recently taken off my usual pain med regimine of 75 micr of Fentanyl Patch every 48 hours and 4 mg hydramorphone ( dilauded) 4-6 times a day.

I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge .I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?

I was on fentanyl patch for 5 years or more and it got to where I couldn't get them because of a backlog and that lasted 3 months, I had to go off of the patch and I didn't have anything to fall back on.No Xanax or Loritabs that I was prescribed. I would NOT recomend anyone trying to go off this patch cold turkey!! I woke up on the second morning after taking my last patch off and was freezing. My pulse was 50 bpm and I felt like I was frozen from the inside out.

Prozac now 40mg and fentanyl 50mcg. and he is now talking in his sleep every night and constantly scratching at himself in his sleep.

Hi Shel and welcome to the pain management community. You most certaintly have options. While you are on the strongest medication there is on the market today, there are larger doses of fentanyl that can be taken. I am on the 50 mcg/hr patch and inside the prescription leaflet it shows morphine conversions to up to 300 mcg/hr of fentanyl, which is equal to three 100 mcg/hr patches.

I blindly went along with my doctor prescribing the Fentanyl patch along with other meds for BT pain. I realized the Fentanyl had a lot of negative things for me (like increase in sugar intake, nodding off when I stopped doing anything, no short term memory.) Do a search on Fentanyl here and see what people have gone through with it. Personally I think it should only be used for end of life pain. If you have reason to think you won't ever come off it, then it would be okay.

this is especially important as some moms are concerned about the meds affecting the baby in anyway, and the mom too!... my sister had fentanyl prior to her epideral and she was right looped from it and wishes she would have just waited for the epideral instead (she had planned on the epideral from the start) but my point is knowing what IV meds you are open to get and the different ways they may affect you... i had fentanyl before my epideral as i was a mess!

If the pain is still there, obviously the Fentanyl is not working and you need to address what is actually happening. Fentanyl CAN relieve pain, depending... It also dopes up your mind and body. You have no way of knowing this until you can think clearly and the Fentanyl prevents that clear thinking. Find out what is really going on and GET OFF THE FENTANYL, THIS STUFF IS DANGEROUS!

t dilates or thinning couple hours in they decided to put balloon in.... for me super painful! And started non stop horrifying contractions. They gave fentanyl for contractions which hardly helped. After 12 hours of balloon in they said I should be at least 3. When. Rook it out I was nothing!!! They gave me epidurall.. my blood pressure immediately bottomed out! Had to rush meds n fluids to bring.g back up soooo scary!
