With this pregnancy I am considering some form of meds just cause I've done the none medicated and glad I did but its actually kind of making me really nervous and I almost dread the day it comes. I just don't know what meds would work best for me because my labor and delivery is VERY fast I wold need something that works almost instantly and doesn't last too long. No epidural!
I had to get my epidural at 4cm and had it going for about 25hrs, which was 2hrs into my labor before I ended up with a c section.
I am starting my withdrawal and it stinks. It's way different than coming off Fentanyl- more nauseous less shakes - at least for the first day. Jeez- I can't believe I am going through this for the second time this month. God give me the strength.

She was gonna be in the room with me anyways when I give birth cuz I want her there. So if she can massage me during labor to help ease pain while in there with me, why not! I rather that than an epidural. And I've had demeral for other pain management reasons before and my body tolerates it well. Its really the only strong pain med I can handle. Morphine and me DON'T mix, haha, so I'm hoping it will still work even during labor.
My dad was there when I had my first. I thought it would be awkward at first but I have a great relationship with my dad so it really wasn't. Plus during labor my bd started getting faint and had to sit down so my dad was there to help hold my leg.
They gave me fentanyl it didnt help with the pain at all but it did relax me during labor i was high so I couldn't stop laughing lol even during contractions my bf thought i was going insane lol
I have never taken anything stronger than tramadol for pain, so I expected to get significant relief from the fentanyl during the procedure.
Not only did I get NO relief, I never felt any effect of the medication (drowsiness, ect.). I experienced a brief period of dizziness after the Versed, but retain total memory of the entire procedure. It was especially painful.
Hi, I have been on fentanyl 75mcg and oxycodone 5-10 mg/day for the last year - ischemia and trigeminal neuralgia.
I really want to get off these meds b/c of addiction issues etc. My doctor maintains that I have probably developed a tolerance to these meds. (tolerance vs meds - same thing??). In any event I stopped the oxycodone 10 days ago and my doc tapered the fentanyl patches to 40mcg for 1 month then 12.75mcg for the next month. Also rx'ed clondine and klonopin for anxiety.

I have suffered with chronic pain for 8 years and I recently explained to my pain clinic that I wanted to try for a baby , they took me off my normal tablet form off pain relief and put me on the fentanyl patch, non of the other pain relief medications are safe during pregnancy, I also visited my obstetrician who backed up the pain clinic and although advise medication free is the only way to ensure no possible side effects that the patch is the safest way forward for a pregnancy.
I've been on Fentanyl 50 patch and sublingual fentanyl 600micg ( A bit like the Actiq Lollys)10 times a day for 3 years for pain as a result of Cancer and treatment. I now want to come off it by reducing the sublingual fentanyl(Actiq Lollys) first. I am now down to 4 a day over 3 weeks but have suffered sweats ,diarrhoea and anxiety in the process. My Drs supporting me but am I going too quickly ? if I go slower will there be less side effects or will I get the withdrawal symptoms any way?
You will be fine if they do not use any narcotic such as fentanyl and do not take any Vicodin or other such prescription from them. Versed and Propofol should work just fine for you. Suboxone will help you with pain after surgery, just take smaller doses more often.
25 mcg/hr is often the starter dose of Fentanyl. They do make 12.5 mcg/hr patches that contain 12 mcg/hr Fentanyl but this lower dose is fairly new. I am also on the Fentanyl patch, dosed at 50 mcg/hr. I take 10 mg oxycodone IR as needed for breakthrough pain. So another thing to assess is if your pain level is consistently high throughout the day or if it is only high during certain periods of the day.
This is being written by some one who was on the Fentanyl patch and the fentanyl lollipops/ sublingual tabs for advanced cancer. If you want to life in a Fent Fog. There are also new restrictions on driving whilst on this drug in the UK. I don't know about other countries.
If your not sure it's working then its not working. You either have pain or you don't.
Find out all you can about this drug and then decide if you want it in your life .
I am on day 6 of no fentanyl after years of 200 mcgh daily I decided it was time to stop this insanity. However after 10+ years of this it is not easy doing on your own, nobody knows the toll it takes mentally ane physically unless you have been there. My question to the world is {is anybody else experiencing this?
