So ive been noticing an oily film when i forget to flush at night and its there in the morning with a very noticeable smell. So anyways I am going to a methadone clinic because I got addicted to pain pills specifically fentanyl. Tje last time I used was january 6th and I have been 100 percent clean since then. I had a random drug screen that is a urine test that gets sent to a lab so its pretty thorough and I tested positive for fentanyl 3 months after i used last.
Right before I went to the doctor with my problem, I noticed something really strange- my urine was oily looking, like a thick film floating all the way across the top of the toilet water. All the colors of the rainbow swirled in...it looked like an oily puddle that you'd see outside in a parking lot after a rain storm or something.
It doesn't happen every time. It's happened about 6 times in the past 2 weeks.
Which patches are you using, the thick Gels or thin film? My wife uses the thin film ones and rarely has any issue sans swimming and or sweating all day in which case she covers it with a waterproof Band Aid and has no problems. She puts them or side just above the waist. I've stuck them on my butt cheeks b4 w/no problems. As far as your scrip, I would reiterate with the nurse that your discussion was document in your chart lest you have the chance of being screwd........
For the last few years I have been on Norco 10 / 325 3 times daily and fentanyl 50 mcg. I was doing well on this regimen, always had some degree of pain but this made it manageable and gave me quality of life. Here is the problem. : a change in my Medicare insurance resulted in the fentanyl not being affordable for me, so I asked my rheumatologist if he would agree to me coming off fentanyl, he was willing to help me. Today starts day 5, no taper b/c I could not afford the patches.
I was put on Fentanyl 25mcg every 3 days for about 2 months. After 2 months my Dr. told me to start changing my patch every 2 days. This was because the 3rd day for me was always a bad day. I could feel the pain "I thought". 2 months after that I was told to increase to 50mcg because I wasn't getting the same pain relief. So now we're at 50mcg every 2 days. Today-Just over 6 months later....... I want off. I think the patch might be making me feel worse. This was my Dr.
Can anyone tell me if I would be better off getting the film this month or should I stick with the pill? Does one work better then the other? I just left my dr an not sure wich one I should get.

Since I can only seem to attach one film per post, I will have to do three post. I know you are not radiologist but, I would really like your input. I would like to be able to ask my doctor some intelligent questions. He is looking for spinal problems and demylation. I am very symptomatic.

I am going to get off the Fentanyl patches and put on Methadone using Suboxone as a bridge
.I have never heard of this med called Suboxone.I am on 200mcg of Fentanyl how long will it take to get off the fentanyl?
he have read about tear film debris and got to know that they are black in colour. how can he distinguish tear film debris from actual floater? how do tear film debris look like?it will be of great help to my friend who has lost hope.he would really want some information about them.

I have a cloudy and spotted film in my eyes at all times that I can actually see moving up my cornea in the mirror. It causes ghosting. I have to get rid of this. What are the names of all the conditions that can affect the tear film? Is it all called dry eye?
If the pain is still there, obviously the Fentanyl is not working and you need to address what is actually happening. Fentanyl CAN relieve pain, depending...
It also dopes up your mind and body. You have no way of knowing this until you can think clearly and the Fentanyl prevents that clear thinking.
Find out what is really going on and GET OFF THE FENTANYL, THIS STUFF IS DANGEROUS!
interactions between prozac and fentanyl. My husbands meds were recently doubled. Prozac now 40mg and fentanyl 50mcg. and he is now talking in his sleep every night and constantly scratching at himself in his sleep.
I blindly went along with my doctor prescribing the Fentanyl patch along with other meds for BT pain. I realized the Fentanyl had a lot of negative things for me (like increase in sugar intake, nodding off when I stopped doing anything, no short term memory.) Do a search on Fentanyl here and see what people have gone through with it.
Personally I think it should only be used for end of life pain. If you have reason to think you won't ever come off it, then it would be okay.
So I would just discuss with your doctor the fact that the fentanyl is no longer working. I have heard that fentanyl tends to work a lot longer than longer acting opioids in pill form before effectiveness begins to wane.
The options that your doctor will most likely present to you are, an increase in fentanyl (which will require wearing a couple of patches versus just one), an increase or change in breakthrough pain medication and/or an addition of a long acting medication in pill form.
The fentanyl should manage your pain much more effectively than the methadone... well I believe it will based on my personal experiences. And I have never taken opana, so I am not sure how much it would help. Good Luck.
Most meds (excluding fentanyl) are a lot less potent in pill form. There is also Fentora, which is a dissolvable film of ultra short acting fentanyl but has also been FDA approved for treatment of BT cancer pain. I think that excluding so many that have chronic intractable pain from using ultra short-acting opioids was very inappropriate.
