Avatar f tn Thank you So very much for your help and PLEASE EXCUSE the Time to REPLY, i was MOVING to a Warmer location, back Down the volcano and into town... I have read and Read ALL kinds of info and the Suboxone seems to be given as a DETOX drug for people who have been ABUSING PX MEDS Whether their Own px or Buying them illegally... ("Valium from Thailand! Real Oxy's from NIGERIA!!
Avatar f tn The active ingredient in both of them is buprenorphine, a partial agonist synthetic opiate. Suboxone also contains naloxone which is there as a deterrent to abuse like crushing and injecting the pill. Without the naloxone present, you have no worries about your doctors needing to increase narcotics in an emergency or post-op situation.
516810 tn?1211590206 For the past year I have been taking 75 mcg fentanyl patches every three days.I need and want to stop and get back to living a clean FUN life.I don't get them by prescription so I can not goto a dr to taper off.I have tried on my own and it was total HELL! The thought of those feelings again scares me to death.I read about Suboxone and wonder if someone here can tell me how it worked for them. Also money wise how much did it run?
Avatar m tn I stopped taking my Suboxone strips for 24hrs. Went into immediate surgery. They gave me Fentanyl, several hydromorphone doses, and a benzo. Got out of the hospital waited 12hrs took my Suboxone. Been taking it for a week. Still feeling surgery effects and I have these weird withdrawl like symptoms. One minute the hairs on my neck stand up, the next im sweating only minor, then I get nausea, then I feel shaky. Its been 8 days since surgery.
1087566 tn?1282448730 I have had great sucess with the Fentanyl Patch. I have used it for about a year now and it gives me around the clock relief for 48-72 hrs. You may want to do some research on the Patch or chat with your Doctor about it. I also take Oxycodone for breakthrough. Give it some thought.
Avatar m tn In the OR suite, more IV Versed, INhaled oxygen, IV Fentanyl (A potent opiate), followed by IV Propofol (This actually is what knocks you out), and the IV Pancuronium Bromide (For muscle relaxation, so the machines can breathe for you) It is common at times to administer reversal drugs depending on how much was given and your response when you come out of anesthesia.
Avatar f tn I have 2 fentanyl 25mg,did anyone know if it helps with my wd of sub? And dont start screem! Only 2 i have! I am in dangerus to whant more and more? And if i whant i can find! So please if anyone nows shear his thougths!
Avatar n tn They affect the mu-opioid receptors in your brain. An ANTAGONIST such as Naloxone and naltrexone literally *antagonizes* (***** with in a very bad way) the opioid receptors, and kicks off any full agonist affecting the mu-receptor, causing extreme dysphoria and pain when given immediately after using opiates. Just remember it *antagonizes.
Avatar f tn m sure you have the principals down though-- naloxone is completely irrelevant to the action of Suboxone, and is there for show more than anything-- it does nothing to contribute to the actions of the drug, but is used to deter people from injecting Suboxone, since then the naloxone would be active. Eagle is correct, Cathy-- buprenorphine, Suboxone, and Subutex are all essentially identical.
Avatar f tn The naloxone component in Suboxone prevents the pill from being crushed and injected. Naloxone also occupies certain opiate receptors and won't allow other opiates to take up residence. That means any additional opiates don't have much if any affect if taken with Suboxone. Butrans is every bit as habit forming as the fentanyl patch or morphine or any other potent narcotic. You will experience withdrawal symptoms if you suddenly decide to stop using it.
Avatar m tn Suboxone has a added ingredient called Naloxone. This was added to prevent abuse, and the Naloxone in Suboxone will allegedly cause immediate withdrawal if the Suboxone is injected or possibly snorted. Naloxone has also been known to induce withdrawal (wd) symptoms when some people are initially starting treatment, therefore some Drs will initially induct patients with Subutex which is just Buprenorphine without any additives.
466909 tn?1207568232 In the case of a Morphine overdose, where a hospital is concerned that the high dose of Morphine may be dangerous (depressing breathing and heartrate), they may administer Naloxone (an opiate antagonist). The Naloxone finds its way to your opiate receptors and "competes" with Morphine for binding of the receptors. Because Naloxone has a higher affinity for the receptors than Morphine, the Naloxone will generally win out, replacing much of the Morphine at the receptor sites.
Avatar f tn If there is a substitute a Dr will not give a woman Suboxone when they could take Subutex and not have to ingest the naloxone .Naloxone can cause a pregnant woman to not produce the necessary hormones needed for the pregnancy. You have every right to be worried about the baby because she is lying. I guarantee her Dr's no nothing of the suboxone..Because if the OB is educated he would switch her to subutex. Her story is very fishy. Good Luck.
369629 tn?1237812958 You begin treatment with this, and then when you are ready to move into the maintenance phase of the treatment, you switch to Suboxone, which is buprenorphine hydrochloride and naloxone, which guards against the meds being misused to get a high from them. My neighbor went through the whole subutex/suboxone thing and it took her almost two years to get away from them after she stopped taking opiates.
Avatar n tn Some opiates cause histamine release-- particularly morphine-- that can cause itching and a rash. Some high-potency synthetic opiates--namely fentanyl and sufentanil-- cause facial itching, particularly around and inside the nose. Some medications can cause a feeling of extreme restless called 'akathesia' that sometimes presents as intense itchiness over the body, especially the legs.
558096 tn?1255887002 s the drug mixed in with Bupe to make Suboxone. That way, if a Sub user crushes the tablet and injects it, the naloxone with bind with the receptors and make the person either fairly sick, or the Sub opiate affect will have NO effect at all. I think you may be thinking about naltrexone. Naltexone is a longer acting version of naloxone and is used in the long term care of opiate addicts. It's even implanted under the skin in some people.
Avatar f tn It does absolutely nothing. When taken properly, the buprenorphine has a higher affinity than the naloxone, and occupies all the opiate receptors. The Naloxone is metabolized and secreted out of the body-wasted. The Buprenorphine (working ingredient) in suboxone is a strong bonding opiate antagonist which prevents other agonist opiates from bonding to receptors, preventing a person from getting high if they try take something to get high while on suboxone.
Avatar m tn Precipitated withdrawals will come if either Subutex or Suboxone is taken. A common misconception is that the knocking off of the original opiate is done by the Naloxone, but in fact is caused by the Bupe. The Naloxone is only active if taken by an IV route. If taken sublingually as directed, the Naloxone doesn't factor into the equation at all.
Avatar m tn When Im coming down off it it fells like Im going to throw up and dizzy as hell but Im straving! So I eat and then I throw up! So I take my next dose and Im better! Just not liking the side affects! Can anyone tell me what the differace is?? Cause if the Subutex wont do this I want to request to swicth! Please anyone give me info????????
Avatar f tn My husband and I decided to try and have a baby which means I have to bite the bullet and just deal with the pain and get off all the drugs. I have never abused my meds and always followed my doc's orders... which I know really doesn't make a difference in the grand scheme of things since abused or not I know I will be having a ***** of a time getting off these things. I had quite dilaudid last year cold turkey to see where my pain levels were at which was absolutely horrible...
Avatar f tn I am tapering off subs, (on my own ,w/o a Dr) I have severe pain recently and need to take percocet. I took 2 5mg ones yesterday, I ws surprised they even worked. I'm on .43mg of subs a day. My question is, should I keep taking the subs? The percocet was prescribed, I really am in pain.
Avatar n tn s together and be fine, for that matter you can take methadone and heroin and be fine. Is Tramadol supposded to be like Naloxone?
Avatar n tn Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication. Buprenorphine is similar to other opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin however, it produces less euphoric ("high") effects and therefore may be easier to stop taking. Naloxone blocks the effects of opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin.
Avatar f tn It should not be confused with naloxone, which is used in emergency cases of overdose rather than for longer-term dependence control Naloxone is a drug used to counter the effects of opioid overdose, for example heroin or morphine overdose. Naloxone is specifically used to counteract life-threatening depression of the central nervous system and respiratory system.
Avatar f tn you can google the medicine to find out about it =) this is a place to get clean off things and not to tell people what they are and things like that
Avatar f tn So to add to my previous post, Methadone has a long half-life, therefore it probably takes five to ten days until you no longer have any Methadone on board. The Naloxone recognizes the presence of another opiate and drops you into immediate withdrawal. You may want to get in and see your Doctor to get Suboxone unless you think you can handle it until the Methadone is completely out of your system, which could be a few more days, just my two cents anyway...
Avatar f tn and when they crush it and inject it...they will never do it again...it will activate the naloxone in it and make them soooo sick... QUOTE: "The naloxone in SUBOXONE is there to discourage people from dissolving the tablet and injecting it. When SUBOXONE is placed under the tongue, as directed, very little naloxone reaches the bloodstream, so what the patient feels are the effects of the buprenorphine.
Avatar f tn How far along are you? Be very careful tapering down. If you stop the medication the baby could go in withdrawal in the womb and you could go into pre-term labor. I was told this by the pediatrician in NICU. My baby is in NICU now for withdrawal of Subutex I took during my pregnancy. They give him morphine and are taking very good care of him.
537731 tn?1268265286 However Talwin NX has Naloxone included in this combination to prevent the misuse of the narcotic ingredient. Naloxone and pentazocine may also be used for other purposes. You should discuss this with your physician and pharmacist. I am surprised that the pharmacist did not question why this was ordered with the percocet. But there are no physicians here nor experts and you should follow the advice of your physican after you have clarified this prescription order.
