Common Questions and Answers about Fentanyl and heart rate

Avatar m tn and as mentioned above, fentanyl affects the breathing, and can depress the breathing rate and in turn the heart rate.... I would think that even with a hugely significant increase in pain, any patient would have to slowly titrate up in dose until the appropriate level has been achieved...starting at 50 is ridiculous. You are doing he right thing....looking online and asking questions...you are being vigilant with your mother's healthcare, and that's necessary...
Avatar m tn My question is about managing the withdrawal symptoms - what are some specific things I can do to help manage 1) high blood pressure, 2) high heart rate, 3) pain, pain everywhere, 4) restlessness, 5) getting some sleep. All kooky suggestions welcomed - I am hydrated, I'm taking hot baths, I'm cycling on a trainer for 20-minute stints every day, I'm eating well, I'm taking my vitamins, and you know, being sensible, but OUCH. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn i have 5 herniated discs and am on 100mcg fentanyl patch and i an still in pain. is there anything more effective?
1390687 tn?1281157239 How much of each were you on and for how long? The fentanyl withdrawal will probably be the worst... I had the roughest time with the fentanyl... and no withdrawals from the percocet/oxycodone... it all depends on the person and amount and how long the person has been using,.. good luck.
Avatar m tn So I had a heart to heart last night with my mom (greatest mother in the world) and she said no matter what I wanted to do she wud help me as much as she possibly could. Whether that means financially kr whatever. She said if I wanted to take time off work and just cold turkey then she wud clear her schedule and sit by the bed as long as it takes. Its obvious at this point that my wife is going to offer no support whatsoever. So, on to my question.
5009469 tn?1362276993 Please look for medical assistance immediately , even if you have to walk into a emergency room and let them stabilize your blood pressure, heart rate , fluids and etc.. That is why we do it in our hospital under medical care . You can see more information on opiates.com on how we medically detox patients. Regardless what route you decide to take, you cannot keep going through this physical stress. Please look for help ASAP. I wish you all the best.
Avatar n tn s and PAT and he was not in the least worried. By the way, they use versed and fentanyl and from what I am told these have no affect whatsoever on pvc's. You will be fine!!! The prep was no problem either. I took the pills instead of the drink. No problems with pvc's.
Avatar m tn Fentanyl patches have a slow rate of elimination and the half life can extend to 27 hours as the fentanyl is slowly eliminated from the fat under the skin. You are still probably feeling the effects of residual fentanyl and when that is gone you will probably feel worse withdrawal. But maybe not if you are lucky. Keep on course and I hope everything goes well for you. Fentanyl injection has a short half life, but the patches are designed to stay in the body longer.
890735 tn?1261421725 Hi, I am not sure of the exact conversion rate but Fentanyl is 40 times stronger than morphine so taking that into consideration it sounds correct. Also doctors normally start Pt's out on the 25mc of Fentanyl and then titrated up as needed. Rarely is a Pt started out on higher doses. This way your put on the lowest amount that will treat your pain. Tolerance issues being considered the lowest dose is the best. I hope this answers your question.
Avatar n tn The Thomas Recipe is readily available online, also keep very hydrated and get your heart rate up daily, even if you can only do arm aerobics, water aerobics, etc.
Avatar n tn I agree with the others, and I wouldnt use a Fentanyl Patch to help w/d's. I used them a few times and to be honest, while wearing it, i felt like a zombie, and when I took it off, I had horrible Anxiety! It is a way stronger opiate and one you should mess with, especially for this reason! Try to do a slow taper if you dont want to c/t. I think thats the best route IMO Best of luck!
Avatar f tn How to wean off Fentanyl patches and high doses of Vicodin? Anyone try Suboxone?
Avatar m tn I think you already gave yourself your own answer........no food, caffeine, stress and a dentist appt.? Ouch!!! Keep an eye on it and my heart doc always says if you can feel your heart listen to it and if you need to make the call. Atypically we shouldn't ever feel our hearts unless we stress them thru exercise or the post you made above....you sound like a normal human to me and a lucky lucky person but......
Avatar f tn The Dr upped her patch to 100 mcg and gave her #1 Norco 1 3Xday, and ibuprofen. She is also on hypertension and cholesterol meds. Since she's been home for the last couple weeks her mental status has deterorated significally to the point we have taken over all money matters and had to lock up her meds cause she was taking them wrong. I would say she had some mild dementia before this last episode, but I would rate it as severe at this point.
1279189 tn?1275244868 No, with fentanyl on board you will have no withdrawal symptoms from the vicodin. However, it takes two or three days for the fentanyl to reach a steady dosage in your bloodstream, so you may need to overlap with the vicodin a bit as your body gets used to the change. You will not get a "buzz" or as you put it, increased spike in energy from fentanyl that you experience with vicodin.
Avatar n tn Holter monitor showed normal sinus rhythm and sinus tachycardia as patient has a high heart rate tenancy. Average heart rate of 100. Total of 1121 premature ventricular contractions which included ventricular bigeminy and also a few ventricular couplets seen, no ventricular triplets or ventricular tachycardia seen. No long pauses.(this holter was done during pregnancy and my pvc's tend to be a little worse). I am having a colonoscopy and endoscopy next week.
Avatar m tn Hi Ga31419, Welcome. I'm sorry to hear about the results of your drug screen. I hope this does not effect your pain management. Do you know which test was preformed? Was this a quick urine test done in her office (immunoassay) or was it a GC-MS? (Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry [GC-MS]) The less effective drug screen, immunoassay is often performed first. It's actually more of a screening method and has a higher rate of inaccuracy.
793219 tn?1238064201 that is what i thought but i was not sure im on a lot of med and they have been uping my lyrica and norco and fentanyl and im on a blood pressure med that dr said would help the nerves and wanted to see if this was somthing i need to talk to dr about the are going to be sending me to a pain management clinic.

Avatar f tn and after evaluating my blood work - which actually came out fine except for a borderline cholesterol 200 and checking me and my BP (which is still high 160/100) he told me that due to having Hypertension since a long time ago - more than 15 years now , i have a somehow a big heart and being so uncontrolled is the main cause of the tachycardia and i cant exactly remember if he said its atrial or venticular tachycardia and he gave me logimax and cordarone 2 pills each everyday , he didnt tell
Avatar f tn I still feel nervous and my heart rate gets high and I take beta blockers twice or three times a day. I have not taken my 112 mcg of synthroid since last Saturday.
Avatar n tn The next work out was very light cardio and strenght training. My heart rate went up to 190 and stayed weel above my target heart rate the entire workout. Even when I was on the floor it stayed elevated! THe ekg and heart monitor showed nothing out of the ordinary. I really like to work out but it makes me feel terrible while I am trying to do it. What could be the problem? Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn t feel dizzy and the heart rate increases properly with exercise, it can be a sign that your heart just pumps extremely efficient. However, your resting heart rate is lower than most top athletes, and you should get it checked. Go to a doctor and get an EKG done.
