I have been on Fentanyl patches for about 6 months and it was prescribed to wean me off of Norco 10/325 2 pills 4 x day after a surgery. I got as high as 75 mcg patch of Fentanyl every 3 days and then I developed some kind of allergy. The Pain Dr. says the allergy is to the adhesive, not the fentanyl. I am now down to 37 mcg every 2 days because the patches itch like crazy. I wake up in the morning and my patches are scratched off(even withTagederm) and there is blood on my sheets. My Dr.

Emphasize the water intake and vitamins (minerals) the body needs. I know this helped me when I went through withdrawal.

How to wean off Fentanyl patches and high doses of Vicodin? Anyone try Suboxone?

I am not addicted to fentanyl patches I take them for chronic pain, I have fibro and cfs, I have been on 100 mcg for 5 years, my Dr thinks I could stay on but i am not keen, has anyone withdrawn from fentanyl? Is anyone pregnant and on fentanyl?

It could also cause you to have difficulty in coordinating movements, and may lead to excessive sleepiness and stupor, and respiratory depression. If the Fentora is not controlling your pain adequately, the dose may need to be increased. But I don't think it's a good idea to mix it with Diphenhydramine.

Thank's Tuck. I Haven't had any trouble breathing but the Hives seem to come more frequently than before and that concerns me. I will definitly make an appt asap. This is so upsetting to me, I finally have some good pain control and now I'm afraid that it will be taken from me. Also, I started taking benadryl yesterday and it has really helped. Thank's for the advise, it is greatly appreciated.....

Congrats on 20 days!!! Fentanyl wd's are wicked and can last longer. The lack of sleep is normal and will come back so just hang in there. We will experience rebound pain also once we are off our DOC and it can get pretty intense but that will subside also. Try the hot baths. That should give you some relief. Keep us updated on how you are doing. Hang tight and stay positive. You are doing really great!!

I've had a prescription for 6 months now, and only stopped taking fentanyl 25 mcg 2 days ago, and yes the first day did suck, but now I'm feeling clear headed and can breathe easier. I am having trouble sleeping and dealing with the restlessness and anxiety. I've read about benzo's helping, and benadryl, large doses of loperamide as well. I just want to know if any of this works?

Hi, I know RLS can be horrible. I just wanted to clarify something posted earlier, the drug diphenhydramine is the same as tylenol pm advil pm and the generic for benadryl. Benadryl just doesn't have the pain reliever in it. Now unisom is a drug called doxylamine and is not the same. The only reason I know is I do have a nursing background, BUT more importantly I get really restless on the doxylamine and can only take benadryl.

I am a 28 yrs old guy, who had right knee total knee replacement at 2005. ever since then I have terrible pain following me. I have tried many different pain medication and even TENS unit, all of those didn't work. After trying all those option at yr 2009 my pain management doctor offered me to tried "FENTANYL PATCH." FENTANYL PATCH really help. Before the FENTANYL PATCH, I use to took 8 -11 tablet NORCO (325mg/10) per day for pain.

takes some dextromethorphan, thats in all cold/flu medicines, that will reduce the opiate wds significantly and also takes so diphenyldramine (Benadryl).to get some sleep and lessen the wds. stick through it its definitely doable.

I have been on Fentanyl for four years, starting with the 12mgc and working my up to the 75mgc every 48 hrs. plus taking about 12 vicodin a day for a neck condition and knee pain and now I'm tapering off the fentanyl having already quite the vicodin cold turkey. I have tapered down to the 25mgc and I'm now starting to get stomach cramps and I'm having trouble sleeping.

Way to go!! I also came off Fentanyl (26 days) and it is no picnic. How are you handling your pain? That is the one thing I am a little worried about but from what others have said- the pain is greatly diminished once off the pain pills. I was thinking about accupuncture and now that you say it helps I will set up an appt this week. Thanks for the info. I found that the anxiety was the worst for me. I could deal with the rest of the stuff but that just about did me in. Keep us posted.

Hi and welcome! There's no question that the insomnia is horrible...and seems to last forever. It probably accounts for your low mood right now. It gets better and the time frame is different for everyone. It seems when you stop thinking about it...it improves! What have you tried to help with sleep? I don't suggest Benadryl. Look for some Melatonin or an OTC called Alteril. It really helps. Are you drinking enough everyday and eating properly?

Yes, it will work faster but it is not worth it in the long run. It is all being released at the same time instead of over a period of time like it says on the bottle to take in maybe 6 to 8 hours. Its pretty great while it last but when it is time to come off it will be really bad news. Good luck, I hope you find some good advise on here, it has helped me.

I am day 14 no fentanyl and day 6 no vicodins. This is something I felt in the first week, then it eased up ALOT. Now... it's a burning hell. I am sooo miserable.

It seems to be getting worse and I have been trying Claritin in the day and Benadryl at night and topical. I am thinking I am going to have to call Dr and discontinue. I am wondering if it is getting worse because the heat here. It is almost in the 90's now here in Iowa! Has anyone had this reaction and have you been able to go back on after a break?

Any update? I have had the same exact issue and my pain management MD had the same response. I have even been in the ER,with severe hives, when taking methylprednisolone and Benadryl at home did NOTHING to help the symptoms. Right now, the only med I don't have a reaction to is fentanyl. I was doing great on dilaudid for months until I started getting hives. My MD doesn't even believe me about the nucynta bc apparently an allergic reaction is very rare.

s are VERY mild this time around! I was really expecting to go to hell and back with this fentanyl withdrawal but so far it has been 10x easier than my oxy withdrawals I went through last year. Anyone have any theories why my w/d this time around has not been nearly as bad as last time? I have been dependent for about 4 months this time around, using mainly oxy/dilaudid/fentanyl but I havent had oxy in awhile mainly just fentanyl and dilaudid.

t believe this has happened so quickly and at such an irregular and low dose. I only have one and 1/4 pill left. Plan to do 1/4 in AM to get through work tomorrow, and then come up with some taper plan for the rest of the week. I did 1/4 this am, now just on benadryl, & ibuprofen, and still achy. I feel like such a fool. I'm 50 yrs old....dam* mid-life crisis and trying to party like a kid :-).

took benedryl for sleep and all it did was make me tired and jittery. Couldn't sleep because it gave me brain zaps all night.

I suffer from panic attack and got imsonia my doctor give 50 mg of benadryl to sleep but she use to give 5mg so if safe for me to take 50 mg of benadryl to sleep.
