femara for fertility

I just found out from my RE that Femara is off-label for fertility, I didn't know that! He said that he gets a letter a week from the drug company telling them not to use it for fertility treatment since it can cause massive defects if used while pregnant. With that said, he still uses it for assistance, as it has benefits. It does 'wear off' so there is little danger for use while ttc.

t find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time. Do you ever use Femara for fertility purposis in Endometriosis patients - even though its blacklabel for this, it seems that it would make good sense? Thanks!

I have taken Femara, but for fertility (ovulation), not necessarily endo.

I have used clomid for conception but to no avail.How else can i achieve pregnancy.

m very surprised to hear that Femara has been used; as Alikat mentioned, it is prescribed for breast cancer. My mother took it a few years ago for her treatment. (Yet another reason for my hesitation over taking drugs that may affect my hormones:( Have you heard of taking Vitamin C? It's supposed to improve fertility in women with a shortened luteal phase. LOL I've always hated the length of my periods - 5 to 7 days - so does this mean it's a good thing?!

My husband and I were on Clomid and Ovidrel for the past 4 months with no luck. I recently went in for a diagnostic test to see if my tubes are blocked. Everything looks great so I am relieved...sort of. I feel like if I had a reason why I am not getting pregnant, this would be easier. My husband and I had 2 miscarriages in the last 2 years so we are worried that when it does happen again, we will find ourselves in teh same situation.

I unfortuantely understand very well! i was diagnosed with stage 4 endo about 6 months ago, (i had no symptoms, but premenstrual spotting) and i ended up losing an ovary from the endo... and then was later diagnosed with PCOS on my remaining ovary! : ( so we went straight to the fertitliy dr to hopefully get on the fast track to getting preg since time is so important with endo...

This cycle I started doing a self fertility massage, and it is said to help with many things including unexplained fertility. I got a DVD on Amazon for 30 bucks, but you can also have a massage therapist teach you the techniques. (the DVD is cheaper, plus in your own home) as far as results I've noticed. This cycle I've had 7 days of fertile CM, in previous cycles I was lucky to have 1 day.

so now I went to fertility clinic used provera to bring on my cycle which started on jan 7th used opk day 12 through 15 like instructed all negative went to dr had ultrasound to check for follicle growth had ripe follicle 22mm did bd late that night which was cycle day 15 next am got the smiley on clear blue digital advanced opk which meams peak chance for fertility then did bd then next night cycle day 17 went to dr day 21 progestrone test it is supposed to be between 8 and 10 mine was 21 now

I have tries Fertile aid, I guess that is like fertility blend for 3 months and it did not make me ovulate. I go see an RE for the first time on Wednesday so I am def gonna ask about femara.

I was wondering what the medical explanation was for why fertility drugs cause cysts? If you do get a cysts at the end of a cycle, does that mean you never had a chance of getting pg from that cycle? Is there anything a person can do to prevent the cysts? I did several cycles of Clomid with no cysts; then one cycle of Femara that produced 2 cysts. Now I'm ending another cycle of Femara and believe that I have cysts again.

I have done several iui's and used clomid, femera and the hcg injections so far. I'm wondering about the injectable fertility Meds I keep hearing about, my RE hasn't suggested them yet... Anyone have any insight about other meds?

m looking for feedback from anybody that was having ultrasound and bloodwork monitoring while only taking femara for fertility. The ultrasound monitoring is new for me as my previous fertility doctor only did bloodwork monitoring. So I'm looking for feedback on number of follicles and size on.

I read many scientific articles regarding femara before I decided to try it. It does work and worked for me on the first cycle. I know others who it also worked for. If you are looking for an alternative to clomid it is something you may want to investigate bfore moving on to injectibles. It works in a different way than clomid and therefore may work even if clomid did not.

Eventually a few months later I get to an actual fertility specialist. He put me on femara 2.5mg twice a day. I had no side effects from femara, whereas with clomid the side effects were terrible (moody, hot flashes, sore boobs, etc) femara was wonderful compared to clomid! my first cycle on femara I did not ovulate, but on my second round of femara i used hcg injection and got pregnant that way. good luck!!

my doctor doesnt think the femara has anything to do with the m/c and i trust him as he is a fertility specialist. they say 1 in 4 end in m/c so we will see if this is our month. i am in my 2ww.

I only ever tried clomid when I was doing iui's. I never tried Femara but I've heard of many women who have but don't ever recall them becoming pregnant. I have since moved onto IVF for many reasons. I have what's considered a difficult case. I hope it works for you and gets you a BFP!!

When my doctor found out about what happened when i took clomid he right away suggested injectables and IUI but since I did research and just started fertility treatments I was not ready for that just yet so I mentioned Femara and so he agree and I did 2.5mg this cycle and the side effects are so much less then Clomid. Did your husband have a semen analysis and did you get a HSG done to make sure your tubes arent blocked? If so then maybe Femara is the best next option for you. Good luck!

Its probably related to the implant. They can affect your fertility for up to 18 months. If 18 months have passed and you are still not having luck, you might consider taking something like Femara for one or two cycles to jump-start your system. If that still doesn't work, you could consider the full gamut of tests. I wouldn't jump right in with a lot of tests though, given your great history of fertility. Good luck!

ve since done two cycles of femara, and then this one femara + injectables... before IVF should we do lupron for 3 months for endo suppression? ( i hear its ify if it helps the chances with iVF or not.. my RE doesn't feel strongly that it helps) or should I go to an endo specialist and have exicion surgery before trying IVF.... or should we just do the regular IVF - 2 weeks of lupron before?

How many tries did it take for you to get pregnant? Were you on any fertility drugs? Did you do IUI or IVF, with a known or unknown donor? My wife and I are going on our 5th month but 3rd try. The first month was on 50mg of clomid with 3 mature follicles and didn't get pregnant. Second attempt was on 75mg clomid with 7 follicles (5 mature and 3 close, skipped that one, didn't want to be "octo-mom") and last month was on 2.
