femara fertility success

Eventually a few months later I get to an actual fertility specialist. He put me on femara 2.5mg twice a day. I had no side effects from femara, whereas with clomid the side effects were terrible (moody, hot flashes, sore boobs, etc) femara was wonderful compared to clomid! my first cycle on femara I did not ovulate, but on my second round of femara i used hcg injection and got pregnant that way. good luck!!

it makes me feel like no one has had any success, with letrozole(femara) and thats the fertility med im taking, i put that comment up 1 month ago, and not one person has resoponded. So does it not work.

my doctor doesnt think the femara has anything to do with the m/c and i trust him as he is a fertility specialist. they say 1 in 4 end in m/c so we will see if this is our month. i am in my 2ww.

I agree with Jenny that you should go with an RE. But as for the femara, yes I have had success with it. I got pregnant on my second cycle on it. I also did a trigger shot and IUI. I am 15 weeks pregnant. Prior to that I had tried clomid for a long time (longer than I should have been on it) with no success. So it does work! I hope it works for you!

We are going on 2 years if trying with one MC last year. Frustrated and sad. Has anyone had success with IUIS and how many attempts did it take? Please send positive energy our way :) thanks!

I had success my 2nd month on femara. Sadly that pregnancy ended at 11 1/2 weeks. Don't really know why. Before that I had done clomid/iui's, ivf with chemical pregnancy, and failed fet. With the femara we were also trying "naturally", so i do think it can work well. I am now on my third round of it again after my mc. Hoping for a bfp on Christmas, if not then i am moving on to injectables. Good luck with the femara!!

on birth defects, but I have found that it leaves your system really quickly, so this is only a cause for concern if you take it while you are pregnant (Clomid has the same warning). I have seen a lot of women with success on Femara, so it could do the same for you! Best of luck to you.

I have done alot of research on it but I am just wondering why women are on such different doses and cd to take them? Is it just up to the individual DR.? Has anyone had success with Femara?? I need a little light at the end of this long tunnel....

I am 27 years old. My husband and I have ben TTC for about 3 years now. We fall in the "fun" category of unexplained fertility. Ugh! I am currently 5 days post iui. I took femara on CD 3-7 to increase our chances and produce more eggs. I'm in the dreaded 2ww. I was hoping to hear any success stories of any couples in the same situation. I need some encouragement!

Ive taken Femara. Many many success stories. I have now currently preg after only cycle. :) people try for a very long time , even with clomid they don't have any luck. But femara is a miracle drug . lol Even tho this does not answer your question. Sorry .

t really help with fertility, its just a toss up..femara for suppression of endo and fertility has not been researched enough yet though, but looks promising!

yes femara has a short half life, so its out of your system way before conception starts! a lot of people on here have used it to get pregnant.. i used it on many cycles combined with injectables.. it helps with ovulation and endometriosis suppression as well, and has less side effects for most people than clomid! Hey everyone. I'm Danielle i'm new here:) I was diagnosed with PCOS last January and started metformin and provera (to start my period). I just took clomid a couple weeks ago on days 3-7. My doctor said i had like 20 follicles but none were mature. Does anyone know a reason why they didn't mature? So now she took me off of metformin and I just started avandia. And wheneveer I start my next period she's gonna put me on Femara and an hcg shot.

i have used both clomid and femara, prescribed by my RE. i didn't get pg, but he felt femara to be a better drug.

After researching online, Femara is typically used to treat breast cancer. However, research has suggested there is a higher success rate with Femara vs. Clomid. Along with Femara, we are going to continue the Ovidrel shot. Ask you doctor about this. Maybe this could be an option for you and your husband. Good luck!!

Most regular obgyns give clomid or femara CD 5 - 9 and most RE's or fertility docs say 3 - 7 is better. If you're being monitored your doctor wont give you the hcg shot until your follicle(s) are mature enough. My RE does it after they have reached 20mm. I have gotten pregnant on taking clomid and/or femara CD 3 - 7. I also started taking progesterone 2 days after my IUI.

Ok just got AF today which is 14 days post IUI. The first time no fertility drugs were used and the DS is brand new to the cryobank we use. This time which will be our second should we use clomid and switch to DS that has reported pregnancy?

Letrozole is the generic name for Femara. You'll see it referred to as that on here, too. I am on my 2nd round and waiting to see if it worked this cycle. Compared to Clomid, the s/e are nil. Clomid was much worse. So far I've not noticed anything different with Femara. Good luck!

Hello! Thanks for the reply. I am on my 2nd IUI & also taking Femara. You are the first person I know to also take Femara. Clomid was not successful for me, it created bad cervical mucus. Anyway, I am on Femara for Cd 2-6 & then injectables (Bravelle) CD 7-10. Last month, I had 2 wonderful big follicles. I think they have found my "right recipe" so it's just a matter of everything else aligning. Let me know how your month goes.

5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.

It takes most normal healthy couples 6months to a year to fall pregnant. A doctor wont do fertility tests until you've been trying a year without success. Everyone is different I know someone who fell pregnant after only a month and someone it took almost 2yrs... ive been trying 6months so far and im not too worried about it, I know it will happen when the time is right. I have just started taking vitex though so hopefully it shouldnt take much longer.

t give Femara, but our new highly respected RE is putting me on Femara and has very high hopes. He said in some studies Femara is 2x more likely to result in pregnancy. Wish me luck! Any others had success with this vs clomid?

I unfortuantely understand very well! i was diagnosed with stage 4 endo about 6 months ago, (i had no symptoms, but premenstrual spotting) and i ended up losing an ovary from the endo... and then was later diagnosed with PCOS on my remaining ovary! : ( so we went straight to the fertitliy dr to hopefully get on the fast track to getting preg since time is so important with endo...

Hi! Most good infertility clinics have counselors who actively work with the patients when they get to the point that you are at, and many patients do! So I would highly recommend that you find a good counselor first of all! Other things that have worked for people include taking a break for awhile, or even giving up--and adopting. For some reason it seems that the harder you DON;T try, the better your odds!
