femara for fertility side effects

I am doing my infertility work up now and will be going on clomid cycle after next and I have heard so many awful things about the fact that clomid gives you all of these side effects and does famara do the same thing without the side effects?

so it might not produce as many follies for some people, but the other side effects are good.. i never had anything but maybe one or two small hot flashes.. TOTALLY tolerable!!! we have gotten pregnant three times using a combination of femara + injectables.. GOOD LUCK!

it helps with ovulation and endometriosis suppression as well, and has less side effects for most people than clomid! GOOD LUCK!

Eventually a few months later I get to an actual fertility specialist. He put me on femara 2.5mg twice a day. I had no side effects from femara, whereas with clomid the side effects were terrible (moody, hot flashes, sore boobs, etc) femara was wonderful compared to clomid! my first cycle on femara I did not ovulate, but on my second round of femara i used hcg injection and got pregnant that way. good luck!!

m on my third round of femara, and had no side effects the first month, but the second and third cycle, I did have a headache on and off for a couple of days. No tummy aches or breaking out, though. BUT, since you took such a high dose all at once, it wouldn't surprise me if the stimulation of the ovaries is causing some crampiness. Like dnikki said, you could always call your doctor and check. m sure that if you look at the package insert, there are numerous reported side effects and warnings, and you should probably take a look to see if any of these apply to you. To be brutally honest, your age is probably what is stopping you from conceiving quickly, but from the sounds of your studies, you have a good chance of conceiving if you keep trying.

I unfortuantely understand very well! i was diagnosed with stage 4 endo about 6 months ago, (i had no symptoms, but premenstrual spotting) and i ended up losing an ovary from the endo... and then was later diagnosed with PCOS on my remaining ovary! : ( so we went straight to the fertitliy dr to hopefully get on the fast track to getting preg since time is so important with endo...

I have heard a bit about femara. I have heard the side effects are not as bad as with clomid. Do you know if that is true? And also, does it also help with luteal phase like clomid does? I would be very interested in switching if that is the case. What are your thoughts?

My doctor put me on Clomid 100 mg (day 3-7) for three months. Besides the side effects for me were pretty bad (mood swings, crying for no reason, vision disturbances, ovary pain, back pain) I didn't ovulate until day 21. I used OPK's but no luck in detecting my LH surge. So I phoned the fertility clinic and they did E2 and LH. The same day they called me back and my E2 was very high so I had an ultrasound.

It works way better then the clomid I was on it 6 cycles and nothing not one O. Femara has no side effects and helps your linning and makes great eggs. best of luck and tons of Baby dust.

When my doctor found out about what happened when i took clomid he right away suggested injectables and IUI but since I did research and just started fertility treatments I was not ready for that just yet so I mentioned Femara and so he agree and I did 2.5mg this cycle and the side effects are so much less then Clomid. Did your husband have a semen analysis and did you get a HSG done to make sure your tubes arent blocked? If so then maybe Femara is the best next option for you. Good luck!

Yes i have used Femara three rounds, the first time I got pregnant which ended in m/c at 8wks. second round no pregnancy third round we did get pregnant but also another m/c. So we are trying this time without femara. my doctor doesnt think the femara has anything to do with the m/c and i trust him as he is a fertility specialist. they say 1 in 4 end in m/c so we will see if this is our month. i am in my 2ww.

my OB is trying to do everything she can for us before I have to move on to a more expensive fertility specialist. Ideally she wanted me on Metformin for 3 months prior to the Femara, but I had horrible side effects. I did one round of Clomid and ovulated around CD 14 (but Got strep throat the same week!), so I guess I have been surprised when the femara has done nothing but give me a headache! 5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.

I have tries Fertile aid, I guess that is like fertility blend for 3 months and it did not make me ovulate. I go see an RE for the first time on Wednesday so I am def gonna ask about femara.

Hi! This is such an emotional and painful journey, isn't it? Doesn't seem quite fair... I have been on a range of drugs and an IVF and I can tell you that for me, I liked the Follistim Injectables but I reacted so well to them, that I had to take the next month off for fear of hyperstimulation, so that was frustrating. Clomid, for me, was awful. I was a complete hot mess on them with witchiness being off the charts!!

m looking for feedback from anybody that was having ultrasound and bloodwork monitoring while only taking femara for fertility. The ultrasound monitoring is new for me as my previous fertility doctor only did bloodwork monitoring. So I'm looking for feedback on number of follicles and size on.

This is just my opinion of course, but if Clomid didn't work for you, then it would probably make sense to try something different. I took them both and I definitely had less side effects on the Femara and i know it's supposed to be better for your lining and your CM. I would definitely talk to the doctor about it. Femara is really a breast cancer drug, but it's "off-label" use is for Fertility, so I think some doctors don't prescribe it.

t think I can even continue this side effects are so bad. I just wanted to have this posted for all of you who are being told it is "stress' and does not happen etc. That is the wrong info, it 100% happens and is happening to me, And is not from low progesterone! It is from IVF meds like Femara, Estrogen Patch, Menopur.

) it has fewer side effects than clomid for most people - no thining of your uterine lining like clomid, and it doesnt' dry up cervical mucus like clomid either.. i've personally never taken clomid, but they say that people have fewer hot flashes while on femara too.... we took femara 2.5mg once a day for two cycles, then upped it to 5mg once a day in combination with follistim and IUI's and got our BFP.. unfortunately miscarried but i will be starting that combo again tonight!

Has anyone tried letrazole(femara) for endo supression--- studies out there are showing great things.. but its not yet well researched for fertilty... we are most likely going to be doing IVF in a few months and we are debating if we want to supress-- lupron vs femara... also should i have another lap done by an endo specialist to "clean" up everything before IVF?? ANY advice, experience is GREATLY appreciated!!! thanks so much!
