When to take femara for fertility

Common Questions and Answers about When to take femara for fertility

femara

Avatar f tn I, too, used to take Clomid and now, I take Femara! Clomid was awful - I turned into a horrific person on it, but I didn't have any side effects with Femara. I do take my Femara differently than most, though...I take 10 pills on CD3 at the same time and that's it!! It works very well for me and it's helped me ovulate sooner (I was a late ovulater) and thereby, shortened my cycles!! Good luck!
788859 tn?1236734548 Hello Brandi, I just read your post about your positive BETA - congratulations. That is very exciting. I just filled my first perscription for Femara which I'm supposed to take tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous. I've been "sitting on" the perscription for over a year and finally just filled it after AF started yesterday. A couple questions for you: Was your second cycle on Femara the one that got you the BFP? Was it 2.5 mg dose? Did you in fact ovulate later than normal?
257175 tn?1204161973 I tried to ask for Femara, but my RE wouldn't give it to me since it is not FDA approved for fertility and is sanctioned as a breast cancer drug. I wish they would've though!
374593 tn?1257879950 t find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time. Do you ever use Femara for fertility purposis in Endometriosis patients - even though its blacklabel for this, it seems that it would make good sense? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I just finished taking Clomid for three months and no pregancy. I had a lap and am going to start taking Femara to try and concieve. Hopefully this works. I am just wondering if anyone else has taken Femara and what it was like ie side effects/pregnancy?! Thanks.
Avatar n tn What questions should I ask, besides asking for a higher dose of Clomid. Are there any other drugs to take alongside Clomid that will help bring on an earlier O. My usual O without drugs is between day 21 to day 29 or so. Thanks for your help.
384150 tn?1399904816 t heard of taking VC for fertility, but I added it to my new perimenopause regime anyway. I take 3000mg a day. I also take VB6 100mg and VB12 500 mg each. I take B complex and a multi/folic acid. I think its the B6 that has been helping my LP. Google it - lots of chatter on this subject.
Avatar f tn Letrozole is the generic name for Femara. You'll see it referred to as that on here, too. I am on my 2nd round and waiting to see if it worked this cycle. Compared to Clomid, the s/e are nil. Clomid was much worse. So far I've not noticed anything different with Femara. Good luck!
325477 tn?1250551309 Few questions for you first: What exactly did chiropracter do to you? WHen did you start treatment? Do you think that O occured because you were on Metformin?? Who prescribed presseed and few hermabl things? Unfortunately, my dh doesn't have a perfect sperm. It is 1 mil where suppose to be 20 mil but it is active and not "lazy". I was told that he can father a pregnancy but the chances are even lower than with perfect sperm because of low count. How did you get rid of PCOS?
Avatar f tn everyone says to take prenatls & to just have fun with it but if it's been that long i would consult a fertility dr.
1697057 tn?1351540435 I fixed the appointment today the 12th of June (cd 4) and he told me to take 2 tablets a day for five days and then intercourse every two days after that. I've had no luck past month with merional injection and choriomon(hcg trigger). I have had a hysterosalpiogram and my tubes were fine, have regular ovualtion and every month I produce around 10 follicles on one side and eight on the other.
Avatar f tn My fertility doctor prescribed there letrozole to me to take on day 3-7 of my cycle only. It blocks my estrogen enough to make my ovaries kick into overdrive and produce more/larger eggs. I've heard this is a common practice for fertility clinics.
Avatar n tn I have used clomid for conception but to no avail. How else can i achieve pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Good to know, a few babies are better than none...but several? Hmmmm...
4548024 tn?1590005019 I only ever tried clomid when I was doing iui's. I never tried Femara but I've heard of many women who have but don't ever recall them becoming pregnant. I have since moved onto IVF for many reasons. I have what's considered a difficult case. I hope it works for you and gets you a BFP!!
Avatar f tn The main problem is that my menstraution cycles are irregular i could take up to 6 mnths to get my period. ive tried all types of meds to get pregnant.... WAT ELSE DO U SUGGEST I DO???
Avatar f tn thanks so much for your answers. I'm new to femara. With my previous fertility doctor, he liked clomid better. With Clomd my estrogen level was always well in to the 1000's by day 12 or 13 but I'm on day 13 now (used femara on day 5-9) and my estrogen is only at 600. And I don't have any signs of having my LH surge yet where as I always surged on day 14 naturally on clomid. So I'm finding femara is working different for me. No idea if it's better or worse.
Avatar f tn Just a quick question - didnt the doctor who prescribed this medication to you describe how it all works? When I was on Clomid (only one month because it thinned my lining) my RE had me come in to monitor my progress through ultrasound. We were advised to BD every second day from day 10 to day 16. I normally monitor my O thru OPK's (you can buy them very cheaply online) and through charting my BBT's.
Avatar f tn hi! sorry to hear about what you've been going through!!! I unfortuantely understand very well! i was diagnosed with stage 4 endo about 6 months ago, (i had no symptoms, but premenstrual spotting) and i ended up losing an ovary from the endo... and then was later diagnosed with PCOS on my remaining ovary! : ( so we went straight to the fertitliy dr to hopefully get on the fast track to getting preg since time is so important with endo...
Avatar f tn best of luck for you too, i went to the doctor today to schedule for IVF and he gave me all the details i need to know and told me to schedule on CD20 the month i am ready for it I will consider it may be on December, till then i will be on femara hoping it may work and i dont have to do the IVF, i will keep you in my prayers, keep me updated :)

I am do back to the doctor on Thursday to see how many follies I have and the sizes. I'm nervous but overly excited al at the same time.
398038 tn?1247857003 Femara DOES cause birth defects if you take it when you are ALREADY pregnant. If you are NOT already pregnant when you take femara it does not cause any more birth defects than clomid or general infertility. So if you take it on days 3-7, it is gone by the time implantation occurs (due to it's very short half life) and theoretically it cannot cause birth defects because it is not even around anymore.
