Avatar m tn ve read that they do have a little, the same way women have some testosterone. If you want to try estrogen, after giving the testosterone a trial and if you find it does nothing, call the same doc who prescribed the testosterone and tell him that it's not doing anything, and ask about getting an estrogen prescription.

Avatar n tn Testosterone is very important for females as well as males. Testosterone also converts into estrogen. All three primacy sex hormones all interact with one another and having them in the proper balance at the proper time is very important and complex. Do you have any menstrual cycle irregularities? Can you also tell us your diet and the level of exercise you do? Are you an "extreme" athlete of any sort?
Avatar n tn I know that I will probably most likely need something to even me out and I understand that bio-identical hormones, balance between estrogen/progesterone/testosterone, and side effects are major issues with this. Have you found certain tactics helpful to you since your surgery? Hope this note finds you well. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Hi, Testosterone (T) replacement may not help in high estrogen cases, what may be required in such cases is aromatise inhibitor which blocks conversion of T to estrogen. Your test results does not show LH , SHBG and total T values. High SHBG values can reduce free T levels while not reducing estrogen levels, thus upsetting their balance. SHBG values increases quadruply with obesity in combination with prediabetic conditions.
Avatar f tn I did find out today that I have no estrogen or testosterone, which means I believe based on older posts that I read on this that the drugs may have thrown me into menopause. Not surprised as it seems to be a common thing. Does anyone know why this happens??
Avatar n tn this was posted from a friend on mine on here she is very knowledgeable. If you have any questions just ask her she knows alot about the cream and it works. Suzanne somers has a book out about his as well. by Mary 53 Send Message View Profile Mary 53 54 years old Minneapolis, - MN Mood: Mary 53 is coming out of the deep freeze , Jan 02, 2008 11:46PM To: Micki There are several variations on hysterectomy and they are not all created equal.
1139187 tn?1355706647 In women, small amounts of testosterone are produced by the ovaries and adrenal glands. Even slight increases in testosterone production can disrupt the balance of hormones and cause symptoms such as lack of menstruation (amenorrhea), infertility, acne, and male pattern hair growth (hirsutism). These symptoms and others are often seen with polycystic ovarian syndrome, a condition characterized by an excess production of androgens.
Avatar f tn On another note, think blood tests are to be done day 18-21 for best snapshot of estrogen/progesterone balance. FYI - would also follow a whole food type diet (meats, nuts, fruits, veg) to help maximize your improvement. Eliminating grains, dairy, soy, sugars will do wonders to help minimize some of the symptoms while you're working through the right path for you.
975514 tn?1324997938 When I went to the doc my sis(who is a PA) recommended, they tested my levels, found out my T3 reuptake was high, progesterone was almost non existent and my testosterone was also low. estrogen was normal. Something called estrogen dominance. I had had hypothyroidism for 15 year had been taking synthoid for that.
Avatar m tn When the levels are too high or are out of balance with testosterone levels this can cause Gynecomastia. There are medications and lifestyle changes that a man can use to help reduce the level of estrogen in his body. Please understand that we, in this Forum, are not doctor but members trying to help the best way we can.We can only give our opinions concerning breast issues, but nothing more than that.
393685 tn?1425812522 Female hormone imbalance The ovaries produce many hormones. Chief among them are estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. The ovarian hormones estrogen and progesterone interact to coordinate a woman’s menstrual cycle during her reproductive years. The brain produces the hormones follicle stimulating hormones (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) which trigger hormone production from the ovaries.
Avatar n tn The only negative side effect for me is that an excess of testosterone will raise the estrogen levels. If I take a small amount of arimidiex-no problems. Hope this helps.
402156 tn?1201638074 If it has been two months since the hysterectomy, you are at the point where the progesterone and testosterone have just about completely left your system. It takes about three months...whereas the estrogen goes out sooner and you should get some symptom relief from the estrogen you are taking, unless it is a synthetic which I have never used. I know that not all women's systems do not do all that well with the synthetics (like Premarin). Take a look at my profile if you want.
Avatar n tn Testosterone comes from your testes as well as from the adrenal glands so they should check out the adrenals as well. Both estrogen and testosterone are redundant systems. Estrogen and testosterone are very related (you know how when a baby is formed, the same parts go to form the ovaries and testes, so it just a matter of how much of each hormone which gives us characteristics).
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing low testosterone myself and I have read a great deal on the importance of testosterone in the male. My male dog is fixed. He is 3 years old and seems very healthy. But i've begun to worry about his testosterone levels and how it effects his health. Is there a natural way to support my dogs testosterone levels. Any thoughts?
110491 tn?1274481937 In women without ovaries, all testosterone and estrogen requires the precursor androstenedione; this precursor is synthesized by the adrenal cortex. This is why even post-menopausal women have some estrogen and testosterone. I don't have much of the first one and none of the other.
Avatar m tn Since you are overweight, one possibility is that you have estrogen dominance and T replacement may further increase the estrogen levels, but your doctor must have considered this issue already.May be he wants to try it on a short term basis to test its efficacy. So, it is better to get these points clarified from him. By the way, what was your T levels?, did you check your free T?.
Avatar n tn Your doctor may consider tests like blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone. Imaging studies, such as ultrasound, X-ray, and CT scan or MRI brain may also be recommended in certain individuals. Left sided under rib pain is most likely due to gastritis. However get an ultrasound abdomen done to confirm the cause. For acid reflux , try raising the head of your bed about four inches with blocks.
Avatar m tn I know that body building can become a sort of addiction, and you want to see results faster. Please remember that balance is important in all things. My boyfriend has read a lot about these supplements, and his brother is addicted to them. The brother has problematic mood swings and has trouble getting along with people. Not only that, but he admits they cause ED and shrinking of his genitals. My boyfriend started taking this and that, and had his first experience with ED.
Avatar m tn Hello, Chap. I think your birth year coincides with mine. On to your question... Before I get there, know that I am NOT a medical doctor. However, I do participate on testosterone forums (in fact, I belong to an excellent forum on yahoo which consists of men recovering from low testosterone. A few of the members there are medical doctors, as well.) Libido is complicated, influenced by more than simply testosterone. That said, we should consider the actual results from your bloodwork.
Avatar f tn I consult two therapist for this issue, got testosterone tested, doing resistance/cardio training five times a week, got intimate with girls, battled all fears, got emotion therapy, taking minimalist AD doses of Effexor and Wellbutrin, I eat well, don't take drugs, don't smoke, drink extremely rarely, enjoy simplicity of life, meditate, yoga etc.etc. I'm still struggling with zero libido...zero erections...what can I do more to get over this frustrating issue ?
Avatar f tn Test showed high testosterone, high estrogen, and darn near no progesterone. Prescribed est. and prog. and those are supposedly good now...but if I'm normal how come i feel AWEFUL? I'm exhausted, wake up 3 or 4 times throughout the night, am gaining a LOT of weight (30 lbs in the last 6 months) and while i admit i dont always eat healthy...there is NO way im eating enough to warrant that...
Avatar f tn My wife Beth, is 48 years old and exercises religeously and has been fit and healthy her whole life.
