587083 tn?1327120262 Since menopause,I have consumed some natural product containing some kind of estrogen to control the night sweating, hot flashes.I drank milk made of soy,ate soy beans and tofu. Could this be the cause that my mammogram was abnormal?I have to have another mammogram and an ultrasound at the end of this month. am very worried and don't know what to think anymore.Maybe the natural things I ate, containing estrogen is the cause that I might have cancer?
414018 tn?1268611672 Terrific story! Thanks. : ) And thanks for all your hard work. Is your OVCA estrogen-dependent? Have you asked your doctor about taking anti-estrogen medication? I'm on one called Aromasin. It kills up to 95% of the estrogen in your body. I'm hoping it works for OVCA; it's in clinical trials for it now (it's used for breast cancer at the moment.) And hey, at least you're entering menopause as your winter is approaching in Australia. Happy hot flashes!
Avatar f tn You can also use a good, over the counter cream, I am talking about Progesterone by the way, it will help to alleviate the estrogen dominance and get those hormones back in balance. Hardly anyone needs extra estrogen, our bodies still make it even after menopause, just not as much, the progesterone will use what your body makes and help balance it out, there is no cancer risk with natural hormones either, with synthetic, that is a different story.
Avatar n tn Maybe you could check a book on natural remedies -- I think I did see one specifically about natural remedies for menopause symptoms a while back. It kind of was tough to read (who wants to believe these things are really going to happen?) but it seems like I remember it talked about foods and supplements and stuff.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for the information. Unfortunately the lab did not break down my estrogen separately. From what you said, would you say my total estrogen is high? Should I get a second opinion or retest in a month? And is it safe for me to assume I'm far from menopause? Thanks for your time and help!! I'm a little lost and new to all this.
Avatar f tn The doctor put me on estrogen as soon as I had it for estrogen replacement therapy. Now two years after having no symptoms or problems at all, I have almost every symptom of going through menopause except the hot flashes. I don't have hot flashes, I sweat all the time. Can't sleep.
Avatar f tn s because the estrogen level goes down at menopause, hence the estrogen no longer protects you as well against the virus...when some of these women supplemented with estrogen, they seemed to do better...oh well, I'll go look for it, some people are picky, come back later...lol.... Avatar f tn Hi there! Not sure I'll be of any help, but when I was going through menopause 2 years ago (I'm 53 now), I definitely had dizzy spells and some light-headedness, which I was told can happen during menopause due to the lack of estrogen being produced. I would think that having one less ovary would mean you have less estrogen being produced? But I certainly don't know this so don't go on just what I say!
171791 tn?1358214381 He suggested hormone replacement but so many people get aner from this. I would also have to pay $500 for first visit and $2500 for any visit after that. I am not made of money. This is what the hormone centers charge here in my area. owever I am gonna ask for some estrogen pills.I have cried all day and if I go outside the heat makes me feel like I am gonna pass out.
973741 tn?1342342773 Hi specialmom. I used flaxseeds (ground in a coffee grinder) for awhile (years ago) along with estrogen but don't recall the effects. And since I was also on estrogen, it wouldn't be a "fair" assessment anyway. I have read that it helps some women.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms of stomach bloating, belching, gas are not typical symptoms of menopause. The risks of estrogen replacement in menopause are probably exaggerated by the media, but there are some risks - you should only use estrogen at the lowest effective dose, for the minimum amount of time, to get relief. You may want to try it out for awhile and see if you feel better.
Avatar f tn These menopausal symptoms can also be the result of chemotherapy, ovarian ablation, and hormone therapy. Women can get relief from these symptoms by opting for Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women. It helps in balancing the estrogen and progesterone levels.
Avatar n tn I will be in surgical menopause. My doctor is saying that he wants me on Estrogen after the surgery. My maternal grandmother died from breast cancer in her 50's and my mother died of ovarian cancer at the age of 40. Your thoughts....
Avatar f tn I have been going thru menopause for 1 1/2 yrs, I was put om premilin .
Avatar f tn I did have irregular periods due to a higher than average level of estrogen. I'm sure they did blood work that showed that? If not, that's easy to do. I also had thyroid issues and combined, those two factors made me have periods every 3 to 4 months! Such a pain that was! I was in my 20's though so wasn't worried about menopause like I would be now. For whatever reason, women with high levels of estrogen are MORE likely to have candida or yeast overgrowth.
Avatar n tn However, a major theory is that too much estrogen for too long leads to the changes that causes breast cancer. A product like Estroven will in theory give your body a little more plant based estrogen but it is hard to say if it will have a significant affect on cancer risk. I personally don't think it does pose the same risk. However, the product is weaker than RX remedies and often doesn't provide relief over the long term. And...
Avatar f tn I have been in surgical menopause for six years now. I have been using the estrogen patch (Vivelle dot .1) since my surgery and have had no problems with hot flashes. However, for the past 8 months I having been getting hot flashes every now and then. Is this normal? When I mentioned it to my doctor, he just said I was already taking the highest dose the patch comes in and didn't like the idea of me using the oral kind.
20815362 tn?1520459514 Sorry to hear this. Are you suffering any lubrication issues? Women in the menopause years as their estrogen decreases often have significant issues with this and also pain during sex. There is an estrogen cream you put on your vagina they can give you to help?? Talk to your doctor about it.
Avatar m tn I would like to take estrogen to help the menopause symptoms still driving me crazy one year after surgery and chemo for ovarian cancer stage 2c - I also had a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy as I have a history of breast cancer in my family - I have heard the HRT can increase the incidence of OC but I am wondering if an estrogen patch would be safe as I have had my ovaries, uterus, tubes, cervix, and breasts removed surgically.
Avatar f tn Id say as often or as few times as your insurance will pay or you feel up to getting poked,,,to be honest I only had mine done once I was avery very lucky woman because my instant menopause symptomes dissapeared shortly after I started bioidentical estrogen only,,,some women need other hormones some do not everyones anatomy and tolerance to symptoms is different...
