Epivir hbv side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Epivir hbv side effects

epivir

Avatar m tn I treated with hep b 14 years ago for 1.5 years with epivir and got hbv e antibodies and afterwards, I stop epivir and every 6 months I check my liver function and alt and ast are persistently normal. I started to check hbv dna 6 months ago as new guidelines come out. Hbv dna at six month was 5000 iu/ml and last week I checked it was 8000 iu/ml. Again both times my alt and ast are normal. As a matter of fact they are in low side of normal.
Avatar m tn I was wondering given the following conditions - 1) HBV is UND (<357/IU) 2) On Epivir for the last several years because after some surgery the doctors thought it was possible I had been exposed to HBV or got some tainted blood 3) previously had the HBV vaccine 15 years ago. 4) No signs of HBV.
Avatar m tn Antivirals such as Entecavir (Baraclude), Telbivudine (Tyzeka), Tenofovir, Adefovir (Hepsera), lamivudine (Epivir-HBV) have less upfront side effects but their long term consequences hurt patients even more: possible lifetime dependency, resistence issue, cost burden, toxicity, possible link to neuropathy, nephropathy and cancer, etc. With all these consequences the cure rate is a miserable below 1%! That is why I choose to manage my chronic HBV with foods, herbs and adjusted life style.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed Hep B 13 years ago, and have taken Epivir since 2002. I do blood test and ultra-sound every 6 months and Hep B is controlled pretty well. As you know, Epivir cause virus mutant resistance, and chance is higher for me since I have been on it for 5 years. My doctor gave me 2 choices, 1) "don't fix it until it breaks" - continue with Epivir, move to combo treatment when mutant and resistance evidence shows up. 2) "precautious way" - take baraclude.

948882 tn?1270553807 Anyone tried to stop antivirals (any reason side effects, fear of side effects, cost or preference to natural remedies) and proceeded with natural remedies ? I am thinking of stopping treatment due to personal preference (have been on VIREAD for 4 months now) and want to hear from people who tried and how they feel now.
Avatar m tn If I cannot handle the AZT, would you suggest continuing to take it regardless or toss it and continue with Viread and Epivir only or manage side effects somehow? Finally, what is the earliest conclusive test possible if PEP is unwarranted? A viral load test at 10 days? Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I went to see my Dr today and he recommanded to change my medicine to Viread (I am on Epivir more than 2 years). I am wondering if it's necessary to change it now since Epivir works well with me (my DNA is 200 copies). But he was worried about resistance and mutation. Do I have to listen to him? I got Viread today but I am not sure I would start taking it from today. -Natalie p.s.: Do you guys drink coffee? I started drinking coffee about 4 months ago...

Avatar m tn The most common side effects of pep are-diarrhea,vomitting and headaches.
Avatar m tn who is the crazy docotor who prescribed lamivudine/epivir, add tenofovir as soon as possible, lamivudine don t cure hbv and makes hbv mutations which can be untreatable and can make liver cancer even if hbvdna undetactable do add tenofovir as soon as possible, you have just worsen your condition with lam, it is not indicated for hbv anymore, only tenofovir (viread) entecavir (baraclude) interferon are to know if you are clearing you need hbsag quantitative in iu/ml and to know if you are saf
Avatar n tn Epivir=Lamivudine, said to be very safe for husband and wife who wish to have children. But do you have to choose Lamivudine as first-line treatment with its high resistance profile?
Avatar n tn Sir i am taking entecavir since 1 years now i have right back side pain and also right knee pain.. what is side effect of entecavir ? i am also chronic carrier HBV and my liver is hyperechoic.
Avatar m tn t remember, should I take the AZT with my Viread and Epivir for a more potent PEP regimen? Or is Viread and Epivir alone okay? I have no side effects from them. Given that this is a gay sex club in NYC, an epicenter of the epidemic? Is it possible to forget having anal sex as a top? I am not a frequent visitor to sex clubs. I do have a phobia of "forgetting" anal sex when I'm drunk- though I've never forgotten it ever before.
Avatar m tn I was thinking if anyone could tell me about the side effects of it. Are they bad? How to deal with them? I would really like to talk with someone about this.
Avatar f tn I'm on the fence of going on Viread, just because I'm on the boarder of what the guidelines are. So, to help, I'm wondering what the main side effects are of those that take it? I read all of the information on-line (lactic acidosis, worsening of liver function, worsening of HBV, and then others less severe). Does the really bad side effects like lactic acidosis, worse liver function, worse HBV happen with those taking it for HBV or is it focusing on those that take it for HIV?
Avatar f tn So i've been on tenofivor(viread) for about 8months now. I've experienced most of the side effects listed. Recently i've been experiencing a pain from my upper left chest throughout my arm. Mostly at night, then during the day I feel a tingly feeling throughout my body. The last time I had my tests done I was at 70 hbvdna. Of course its not the best test because the American health care system blows. But I've heard we are now getting fibrosis scans and hbsag quanitity scans.
1622229 tn?1299050798 you have to know (ur doctor should be very aware of this so change it if it didn t tell you) that hbv is not pathogenic, it means it makes no damage to our body.
Avatar m tn hi guys. I'm hbv positive (E Ag negative). I develop serious side effects like extreme fatigue, breathlessness and palpitations anytime I'm taking Tenofovir or baraclude. I'm unable to take either of d drugs for more than 2months at a stretch. what could be responsible for this and is there any remedy?
Avatar m tn - Pain over the location of the liver (on the right side of the abdomen, under the lower rib cage). I never experienced that before taking Viread - Flu like symptoms: Muscle aches; Headache, Temperature, Tiredness. They come and go. Again I did not experience that before. My doctor says this COULD be some immune reaction but wants to wait for the next results in November.
Avatar m tn The antiviral lamivudine (Epivir-HBV) has fallen out of favor as an antiviral treatment for hepatitis B because it causes drug resistance. However, a study reported in the Digestive Diseases and Sciences found the antiviral was effective when administered in high doses in patients with cirrhosis.
