enbrel

1711722 tn?1356487554 I find that the injection sites start itching about a week after the injection. The injection sites also have a lot of itchy, red bumps around them. I take a Benadryl at night and apply hydrocortisone cream. I use hydrocortisone cream during the day too. It works for the injection sites. Aquaphor might work for your tummy sites. I was using just my thighs up until injections 11 and 12.
Avatar f tn Hi - has anyone who has ever been on Enbrel noticed a rust-colored staining on the hands? I'm not sure if it is directly related to enbrel, but I thought I would ask. My daughter was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis several months ago, and has tried Remicade unsuccessfully. Now, she has had 2 injections of Enbrel, and just today has noticed the staining on her hands. I don't know what to think, so I'd appreciate hearing from any of you.
Avatar f tn My husband has just started treatment and has the same marks @injection site. It is quite normal. If it were possible to change the needle on the syringe after drawing up the medication it might minimize some of the redness, but he is in a study and they are not likely to give some extra needles to anyone.
394687 tn?1290920840 Getting ready for shot # 2 tomorrow after a pretty rocky first week but have noticed that the site reaction is getting bigger every day. About a 3 1/2 inch round swollen, warm, red welt. Guess this is normal? When do they dissipate? I'm going to look pretty sexy by week 6 (not many fat spots on this scrony body) Is it Ok to inject over welts? Doesn't sound like to much fun. Isn't there a way they can just put us out for 6 months or a year...

Avatar f tn The spot on my right leg also got bigger with my arm injection, and neither lumps seem to want to go away now! I wanted to see if anyone else has had this reaction- the injection site healing, then cropping back up a few days later. Any info would be appreciated, thank you!
2030686 tn?1351688548 I took my second shot today and I noticed I still have a slightly darkened spot about 2 inches around last weeks injection site. I didn't inject into the same leg this week, and I didn't have any swelling, itching, or anything else last week. After a couple days I noticed a darkening/reddening of the skin around the site. It's just a slight difference. So little that if I try to take a picture the flash washes it out. I will try again though.
Avatar f tn I think almost everyone gets these injection sites reaactions initially on copaxone. As Alex says, it is a trade-off compared to the alternative of doing no treatment at all. For most of us, the reaction calms down as the body adjusts to this substance. It took a couple months for me before the stinging stopped. this summer I started in with small lumps from the shots - half-dollar size and smaller- and talked to SS about it. They said to talk to my neuro about alternative shot sites.
1752948 tn?1466354161 I noticed that my injection site looks okay for a few days after the injection, maybe very slight redness or maybe none. About 6 days after an injection the site, including the surrounding area about 2 inches in diameter, gets pretty pink-red and a little raised. It also itches like crazy. It feels warm to the touch (warmer than the rest of me). The site stays that way for at least a week or more and then gradually fades and quits itching (over 3-4 weeks time).
997730 tn?1254278376 The last 3 of my injections have left dark circular bruises at the injection site. Previously, I did have some redness, but not bruising like this. (I'm on my 19th week) At first I thought that maybe I somehow caused it during the injection. But then the next week, I had the same kind of bruise. Now, after the last shot, this is the 3rd time I've had a bruise, and I used different spots for these 3, where I didn't have this kind of problem before.
Avatar f tn So far no major side affects. Two weeks ago I thought I was having a reaction to the meds so I skipped two injection days. I resumed the injections on Wednesday & so far no reaction. I've been on Rebif since April and am still getting use to sticking myself..... The injection site brusies are horrible. I stopped doing my arms because of the marks, but its the marks or my health so I guess I'll have the marks! That's how I decided.
158939 tn?1274915197 Hello. I am not on Humira (yet) but have talked to many people who are. From what I understand, what you are experiencing is normal and that it gets better after several injections. I have also heard that you may feel better if you inject it right before bed so you can sleep through most of the side effects. Please let us know how you do and if you develop any other side effects.
Avatar n tn According to the Spondylitis Association of America (ReA is one of the Spondylotharapies), ReA usually clears in 3-12 months but, if you are HLA-B27 positive it can be more severe and last longer. I would not encourage you to avoid treatment. If you are dead-set against taking enbrel, talk to your doctor about alternatives. 3. Will it get worse, better, or stay as it is while I'm waiting for the symptoms to go away? Unfortunately, there is no way to know.
400099 tn?1282954864 THEN, the next morning while in the shower, massage the site to decrease the lump. Riiiiight. So much for a treatment that doesn't interfere with your life. And adding insult to injury their recommendations didn't work. My last injection was 4 weeks ago and I can still feel marble size bumps everywhere. My Neuro said she couldn't see me living with those reactions forever. Not to mention the loss of good injection sites from the lumps.
233622 tn?1279334905 You say "how can you mess this up" but I did at first, I hadn't listened properly when the injection procedure was demonstrated to me and I wasn't massaging the site after the injection, according to the nurse this could have meant that the drug was just "sitting under my skin". I must admit that massaging hasn't made much difference. My MS nurse seems more concerned about the reactions than I am.
Avatar n tn This is my wifes favorite site but I'm the infected one. Been on treatment for 15 wks.(interferon-Riba.) Developed rash at injection sites that don't go away and on arms neck etc. Dr. decided i'm allergic to interferon. Due shot on Saturday and was told not to inject.Going to replace interferon with Pagasis to see if I have an allergic reaction with it. itching is unbearable. Is pegasas that different that I might not get the reaction and i might not get the drug for a while.
Avatar f tn I was using copaxone I did have a itch at the injection site and a lump that lasted for days sometimes weeks. Blistering I never experienced.
Avatar f tn Hi I have been fighting this disease since 2007. I am a bit of an unusual case for IGM as I have never had children, or breastfed. I have had spinal involvement, with inflammation at the base of my spine, for some years. I also have spinal arthitis and disc degeneration. I am going to try a trial of Enbrel, which modifies immune reaction (shuts down your body's immune reactions in a specific way) in a few weeks. Has anyone else tried this?
Avatar f tn I have been told to get off Enbrel for needed gallbladder surgery. My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.
Avatar f tn Just started taking Enbrel self injection, haven't had RA meds since August. Feeling lighted a bit and very anxious. Is this normal and will it fade as time goes on?
5625068 tn?1371156181 PS - if the sting (or injection site rash) of Enbrel is what's causing your Mom to want to switch, definitely have her ask to be switched to the self-mixed form. There are a few steps to mixing it, but like I said before, once she gets the hang of it, she'll be done in under 5 minutes.
