Our aim was to investigate the efficacy and safety of etanercept as adjuvant to interferon and ribavirin in treatment-naive patients with HCV. METHODS: Double-blind, randomized, placebo controlled trial. Fifty patients with chronic HCV were randomly assigned to receive interferon alfa-2b and ribavirin with either etanercept or placebo for 24 weeks. The main outcome measure was the absence of HCV RNA at 24 weeks, the on treatment response at the end of the etanercept randomization period.
Can anyone tell me if peri spinal etanercept works ? I have had four back surgeries since 2000. The last two were for decompression of the L-4, L-5 and S-1 nerve roots. My third surgery was performed in January 2011 and the last one in July 2012. I am still having pain around my right hip, left calf , left ankle and left foot. MRI and CT Myloegram do not show anything. Help !

Results
At 24 weeks, HCV RNA was absent in 63% (12/19) etanercept patients compared to 32% (8/25) placebo patients (P=0.04). In addition, patients receiving etanercept had lower frequency of most adverse events categories compared to placebo.
As you can see, my point is this - just like MS is different for everyone, so is finding the right treatment. I have a friend who was on copaxone for 15 years and had a severe reaction to it...suddenly. She hasn't been on anything for about a year and says she feels better than she has in decades...???
The standard therapy options include intravenous immunoglobulin and plasmapharesis, corticosteroids, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, etanercept, mycophenolate mofetil, interferon alpha 2a and tacrolimus. Current ones are interferon beta 1a, rituximab, and high dose cyclophosphamide. Your neurologist needs to apprise you of the long-term side effects since prolonged therapy are required. Botox shots are not known to be used in therapy.
I am DEATHLY afraid of injections and I see that the current recommended treatment is a single dose injection of Rocephin 250mg. Since I want to avoid an injection at all costs, I spoke to the clinician about possible alternative treatment options. She agreed to prescribe me Cefixime 400mg, and Azithromycin. After doing a bit of research, I've read where Cefexime was an effective source or treatment for urogenital and anorectal gonorrhea.
Though non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAID) and steroids are the gold standard of treatment, more emphasis should be laid on physical and occupational therapy, rest, heat pads and use of assistive devices for walking. I had protected sex but felt a tingle the next day so i went to the er and they gave me 250mg rocephin injection, 7 day course of doxacyline. took it all and still felt tingling so i went to a doctor and he gave me cipro 250mg 2pills aday twice a day. i took that but i still have a feeling like urine is left in my penis after i pee. also have itching around the bottom of penis head. any advice?
i have been told that there is an injection you can have between certain ages to provent ovarian cancer?
Is there any type of chemotherapy treatment which would involve a shot to the abdomen? I'm not referring to the IP treatment, but simply a quick injection. Doesn't chemotherapy need to go into the veins? In the case of ovarian cancer, is there a topical chemo that can be applied & if so would that require surgery or an injection? My daughter in law is getting a weekly abdominal shot, supposedly for stage 2 ovarian cancer, but I'm not confident about this treatment.
s not the reccomended treatment because of resistance... My question is will the treatment my doctor prescribed actually cure me or will I need to get the injection??
It's currently 3 days since I took the tablets and there is still some discharge but it is clear now instead of yellow - is that a sign that the antibiotics are working?
After my first injection and at my first appt after that injection, my PA said my labs were really crazy and gave me an injection of Neupogen and a prescription for it. I have only 9 shots left and have been taking the Neupogen 3 times a week for the entire tx. They almost took me to 4 times a week. Even with 3 weekly injections of Neopogen my WBC and ANC's are still low. I guess without the Neupogen they would be non-existent.
I would have surgery. A macular pucker surgery is very successful. There is an approved for VMT but not macular pucker.

I took my 64th and final injection Saturday night, 5 more days of brain fog pills and I am done. This past few weeks have felt like a few months. You know the feeling like you want to get somewhere quick and you slow down.?
I got up and went out with my wife for the day yesterday. I felt pretty good, but am guessing it was the anticipation that next Sunday I will not wake up with the flu for the first time in a year and 4 months.

I have type 2b and I am starting treatment in 2 weeks. I will be taking pegintron and ribavarin 2pills per day and 1 injection per week. I do not work weekends if I don't want to. should I take my injection on Fridays and what side effects should I expect from both drugs. I am 56yrs.
well my husband starts treatment tuesday night. what should we expect? the dr. said to take a couple of tylenol before we come in. for what? and should it be tylenol pm so he can come home and just sleep? i hope thats not a dumb question.
