559992 tn?1216169738 the flu is bad enough but RA makes it worse. So, yes, the flu can make your RA flare. It is a good idea to get a flu shot early in the season if you have RA and a necessity (as is the pneumonia vaccine) if you are on Methotrexate, Enbrel, Humira or Remicade.
1544019 tn?1318504526 m thinking (and feeling) that one shot would be okay. In fact, I would rather give myself an Enbrel shot than take prednisone (which is normally what they give pregnant women with RA if they need medication. But I LOATHE prednisone and it's side effects. However - they say it's "safe.") Enbrel has always been good to me and I think it would be okay to take right now.

422104 tn?1209763904 I just started it again around the 9th shot of Enbrel and bingo relief from the AS. My doctor wanted me to go on Remicade after only 1 month of the Enbrel. I do not have time to go for infusions and am in the process of changing doctors because we just don't see eye to eye on things. If the Humira and Remicade are the same drug then why make me travel and give up 1/2 a day to be infused. $$$$$ is why!
Avatar n tn LOL, yes it is and thank goodness you don't have ALS. I am on one shot of Enbrel a week and the doctor I just fired was talking about putting me on Humira or Remicade. Remicade is an infusion medication and Humira is an injectable like the Enbrel. You may want to speak to your rheumy about perhaps trying one of those two. I was in between jobs and had no insurance and had to stop the Enbrel for 3 weeks, within 2 weeks the pain and stiffness was back worse than ever.
Avatar f tn I’ve been taking Enbrel for the past 15 years or so with HUGE success! I have since Retired from work last month and now have a limited income. I signed up to Medicare/AARP for my post retirement healthcare requirement. During employment my Co-Pay was 25 dollars for a month supply. Now, Medicare and AARP collective insurance leaves me with 1,000 dollars for a month supply. Retail? $4600-$5500 for a 4 doses (month supply) Is there ANYTHING else that works as well as this?
Avatar n tn So I finally decided to go with Enbrel. I stopped the homeopathic remedy and took my shot of Enbrel last Tuesday. I also started taking pain medication regularly and my rheumatologist gave me cortisone shot in my ankle, which was the most recent and the most painful swelling. I feel a bit better now with the combination of those things. I don't know if Enbrel started taking effect or not yet. I'm just trying to be more positive about it.
Avatar f tn A friend of mine has PA and has been taking Enbrel for years and she is in great health now. I started taking it 14 weeks ago after being so miserable for 4 years. I feel the best I have since getting sick 4 years ago. I urge you to speak to your Dr. about it. Take care.
Avatar f tn I got my flu shot while expecting my son, he was born Jan 30. I will be getting my flu shot in December as I'm due in march, just so my baby is protected from the flu virus. I know it's a good idea, my mother didn't get a flu shot when she was pregnant with me and now I'm always sick.
Avatar f tn My last dr was an @$$ and had basically forced me to set an appt for the flu shot. My entire life i havemt gotten the flu shot, and YET i havemt got the flu. I plan on canceling the appt. Im very healthy with a very good immume system. Am i just wrong?
Avatar f tn has anyone else got the flu shot this year ? I've already had it but now I've been reading up on some things saying it's not safe and can cause risk to my baby and I. I'm a little worried.
Avatar f tn I have never had the flu nor received the flu shot. But at the beginning of 2nd trimester the dr strongly urge I get one b/c she sd she has 2 mothers and 2 babies die as a result of getting the flu/H1N1. I took the shot reluctantly and it didn't make me sick and I actually came in contact w/ a customer of mine who had the flu and I haven't been sick, thank God! I'll never get it again unless I'm ever pregnant again, I just took it this time as a preventive measure.

Avatar f tn I did not want to get the flu shot. I never ever get the flu (knock on wood) and I'm scared that if I do, I will get sick. My Dr is addoment about getting it. I'm 10.5 weeks and was going to wait until I'm in my 2nd trimester. What are your thoughts??
Avatar f tn And my dr suggested I get the flu shot. But Im 22 yrs old and Ive never had tje flu shot and I have never had the flu. Suggestions?
Avatar f tn Ive never gotten a flu shot now that im pregnant they keep asking if im going to get one. Should I ?
Avatar f tn A flu shot would not cause those symptoms. It may cause a low grade fever and minor body aches, but definitely not vomiting or diarrhea. There are stomach bugs going around. If you are not feeling better soon you should probably call your dr.
Avatar f tn t get the flu shot - even while pregnant because I have bad reactions and that usually coincides with me coming down with the worst flu whenever I have tried to get the flu shot (to the point of being hospitalized). That said, I get it if you are against getting the shot - but I would say it depends on how much you need the job. You say you really need the job - is not getting it worth the cost not having the job will be?
10268216 tn?1408929706 I'm on baby #4 and I've never had the flu shot pregnant and ive never gotten the flu pregnant. I've heard it can make you sick and lord knows I've been sick enough.

Avatar f tn Im a ftm and duen in Dec. I was told to get the flu shot. I normally dont get it and do fine without. I wanted to know some opinions or experiences on getting the shot.
Avatar f tn Has anyone gotten their flu shot while pregnant? My dr wants me too but my boyfriend and I both refuse. I never gotten the flu shot before, not because i'm scared of the shot I can careless about that but I just don't believe in getting it. My body reacts to shots snd medicines in a weird way. What are your opinions? Strictly opinions only.
9187090 tn?1406264221 I didn't get the flu shot. And when you get the flu shot you CAN get sick from it since they are injecting the virus into your system. I got the tdap shot and did the gestantional diabetes teat and that's it. I declined everything else.
