Avatar f tn my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
Avatar f tn That is the test for antibodies to the hep c virus he will test positive for antibodies for the rest of his life. Anti-bodies or not the virus anti-bodies are made by your body when it tried to fight the virus. Just like if you had the measles or wherever vaccinated for the measles you have anti-bodies for the measles virus. The test to determine if he is infected with hepatitis C again would be the HCV RNA by PCR test.
Avatar m tn Hi, my doctor say after seeing my symptoms and tests that looks like some virus... I had neutropenia and low platelets... and all symptoms of primoinfection... but negative PCR and Elisa after 6 months... could I dont have develop antibodies because my disorders in my blood yet? Some people say no, no after 6 month, I dont know.
Avatar m tn So in short less then a month or during ARS, PCR RNA tests is best (9 -11 days after the exposure) but after a month a PCR DNA test would be best, but at this point an Elisa test would work just as good and without the risk of false positive which would make most people here go crazy. 6. RNA PCR is for early detection, test at the 14 th day after the exposure backed up by an antibody test at the 12th week is good enough to rule out HIV.
Avatar n tn At six weeks, I had a PCR DNA and a PCR RNA both undetectable and elisa negative. Also, at 9 weeks, I had an elisa negative and a PCR RNA negative. For someone who is hiv+ and has not developed antibodies, wouldn't one of the PCR's detect the virus?
Avatar m tn 1 percent of the population is a low incidence of hiv, every elisa test is good at 3 months, that you have been told already, with each generation of test they get to detect a little bit earlier, elisa has been used to detect many viruses other than hiv, its an extremely reliable way to test for a virus, to culture for the virus takes to long. i doubt if they still use first generation test unless its home access test, also rapid test like oraquick are equilivant to 2 nd gen testing.
Avatar n tn This is true if even if they have cleared the Hepatitis C virus. A reactive antibody test requires an additional, follow-up test to determine if a person is currently infected with Hepatitis C http://www.cdc.gov/knowmorehepatitis/LearnMore.htm But pcr-rt (quantitative) is negative.am I infected with hcv? No Is it possible for someone to become infected with HCV and then spontaneously clear the infection? Yes.
Avatar f tn Hiye, this may seem a silly question but is the Elisa test that is used for HIV the same as the Elisa test used for rheumatoid arthritis?.. Is the Elisa just a standard antibody test that is not disease specific and if reactive then a specific test is used?..
Avatar f tn I second this. An EIA or ELISA test is tremendously accurate.
Avatar n tn The PCR HIV test usually returns in 5 to 7 days. We offer the HIV PCR DNA test along with the Standard Elisa HIV Test. The Standard Test usually returns the next day. This testing combo is the best and only way to detect early infection. PCR is so sensitive, that there is a possibility of false positive results. Indeterminate results are also possible. It is our policy that any positive tests will be repeated on a new blood draw sample at no additional cost to you.
Avatar n tn That test finds how much virus is in the body.
Avatar m tn if your test is third generation ELISA OR EIA which detects all hiv subtypes, then it is conclusive at or after 12 weeks. third generation elisa test not ony detects Ig G but also IgM which is the first antibody produced in response to antigen(hiv virus). after 6 weeks of infection more than 99% will test positive and at or after 12 weeks a third generation test would definintely exclude infection.
Avatar m tn Elisa antibody test or a rapid test. The results are 100% accurate at 12 weeks let alone a year or two.
Avatar m tn elisa test is an extremely accurate test. Its window period is 3 months after the last exposure. A negative result, which is given by taking this test 3 months after an exposure, is fully conclusive.
Avatar m tn if you were infected with more than one strain of hiv Would an elisa test still be able to detect antibodies just as well? or would it make it difficult as the virus has joined together making antibodies undtectable to the tests used?
Avatar f tn There are different HIV antibody tests. One test is the ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay). If the ELISA test is positive, a second test called a Western blot is done to confirm the result. The Western blot takes longer to perform and is more expensive than the ELISA test, but it is more precise.
Avatar m tn ust report you a negative hiv test. The only case when labo may report indeterminate is on ELISA (because the test is take in the seroconversion period, or another illness like flu) and even then after a two to three weeks, ELISA will be clear. In your case 4 yrs - your WB wasn`t positive , so you are NEGATIVE!!! Enjoy your live! MOVE ON!
Avatar n tn First, I lost 8 pounds from July 24 (yearly physical) and August 15 (first ELISA test). Other symptoms include mild head ache for most of those days, white coated tongue - somtimes stinging and with bad taste, prickly/slightly itchy skin at times, what i call hot flashes, neuropathy symptoms - a good amount of burning and slight pain in feet and hands.
Avatar n tn HSV Elisa Antibody tests are how much accurate for detecting hsv virus after 18 months of last exposure
Avatar f tn today i have tested by a finger prick elisa rapid card test from 6 months and 15 days later from my risk behavior. My result is NR . i know it is a very good news for me. i have a great information about hiv from this site. But today i have one last question for experts of hiv knowledge. My question is - during testing he prick my finger and put straight down to the blood hole( from where blood enter into the card) on card , not droping blood drop on the hole.
Avatar f tn Greetings I had protected sex, no oral play with a massage parlor worker 4 months back. This week my elisa test came back reactive while western blot test indicated negative result for hiv. I assume this is a false positive result for elisa. I also did 2 oraquick tests which were negative. Do you think o am infected?
Avatar f tn not too surprising you are also hsv1+, most adults are whether they get obvious cold sores or not to know it. the pcr test actually looks for herpes dna. since herpes isn't a blood borne virus, getting a pcr blood test is useless in most situations. we typically use it on obvious lesions to look for herpes. if your partner is hsv1 negative, you can perform protected oral sex on him if you both prefer that.
Avatar n tn I will go Jakarta if my villege no 3 generetion test. test shop paper print EIA (assxym). Is the test not the forum call elisa or is one old test long time no use already.
