Elisa test results interpretation

Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test results interpretation

Avatar f tn Thanks for the answer Dave. Couple of follow up questions. Do you know if the specific test I took was an Elisa test I couldn't tell because it said ARUP in the title and I've never heard of that before. I remember reading an old post from grace that asked someone if they ever had cold sores and the person said no and she responded saying that if they never had cold sores and had contracted HSV-2 they would probably be showing the typical herpes blisters.
Avatar m tn My interpretation is #1 is the standard screening test (ELISA). If the test is positive then the western blot is done automatically. This is the standard testing for lyme that most non-lyme specialists order. I just wonder how much it costs if the test is negative and no further testing is done. It should be a lot less. The ELISA is not very reliable and misses a large percentage of lyme cases. #2 is the western blot in itself. I think this is what it means but I'm not sure.
Avatar f tn s not, because it is now known that the Lyme bacteria can and do *suppress* your immune system, and your immune system activity against a Lyme infection is exactly what the W.blot/ELISA tests look for. The test result of the W.blot/ELISA tests can then wrongly say that you have no antibodies against Lyme, and therefore do not have Lyme, when actually it may be that the Lyme bacteria are just not being located and reported on the test results. More than you ever wanted to know, I'm sure ...
Avatar m tn in rapid tests i used whole blood. interpretation time is according to instruction.of test. but i made lab ECLia, Duo and normal ELisa.
Avatar m tn Herpes Elisa antibodies test IgG type specific 11/14/2012 - result: 1.89 (labcorp) ^same test (same location, labcorp) 11/20/2012 - result: 1.65 HSV2 IGG INHIBITION,ELISA (quest labs) 01/2013 - result: The HSV-2 IgG screening assay was repeated at Focus Diagnostics, and the result was not positive (i.e., the index was <1.10); thus, the inhibition study result could not be determined.
Avatar n tn I had a unprotected exposure on 16th feb this year with a girl of my neighborhood whose having one more sexually active partner, after 2 months i got tested with hiv elisa test n the result came back negative but i was still anxious and got tested again for elisa after 3 months n 20 days from my last exposure it came back as negative too !! Are these two tests enough ?? Or i have to retest again ??
Avatar n tn Hi, I recently had and HIV test since I had some misgivings about my status after I had an unprotected sexual encounter with someone I didn't know well. It was like 9 weeks ago. At the lab, they told me it would be an ELISA Fourth Generation test, and so, the results say I'm HIV negative, but there are some figures related to an RFV item which I don't understand well. It says my RFV is 0.02. Could anyone help me out with the interpretation of this?
Avatar m tn hi sir my elisa test after 5months report is negative and my reoprts description is this SEROLOGY Test Description Value Observed Biological Reference Interval Accreditation HIV 1 & 2 0.60 Index Value Non Reactive: Index Value = 1.0 Interpretation Non Reactive result implies that no Anti HIV -1 or Anti HIV -2 antibodies have been detected in the sample by this method.
Avatar f tn Please help! I received my results to HPV-2 igg inhibition test and it indicates the following- HSV-2 igg inhibit, elisa HSV-2 igg screening index <0.90 inhibition interpretation- the hsv-2 igg screening assay was repeated at focus dx, and the result was not positive (i.e,the index was <1.10); thus, the inhibition interpretation study result could not be determined. % inhibition or = 60 Positive original HSV-2 igg test- 2.
Avatar n tn I tested positive for herpes on a hsv2 igg test (dont remember result, it was a low negative like 1.65 or something). I wanted to get a confirmation so i got a herpes inhibition test Which was NEGATIVE. The results said this: "The HSV-2 IgG screening assay was repeated at Focus Diagnostics, and the result was not positive (i.e., the index was <1.10); thus, the inhibition study result could not be determined.
Avatar m tn Indeterminate results also might indicate a false-positive screening test result, which is the most common interpretation for these results among those at low risk for HCV infection (23,24). Another sample should be collected for repeat anti-HCV testing (>1 month later) or for HCV RNA testing. http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/rr5203a1.
Avatar f tn ive in fact accepted the fact that i have it and wanted to get treatment asap but then my tests came back negative. but after reading other peoples posts, i got confused with my test results which is why i am posting to get an opinion from people who know better. So here it goes: Test: *HSV Type 2 IgM (Anti HSV 2 IgM) Result = 4.1 Unit = U/ml Cut-off = less than 20 Interpretation = NEGATIVE Test: *HSV Type 2 IgG (Anti HSV 2 IgG) Result = 3.

Avatar n tn I recently had a routine STD screening including the Herpes Select blood ELISA test for HSV I and II. My HSVI was less than 0.9 while my HSVII was 1.4. I am confused if I am positive for HSVII or not. While the threshold for this test is 1.1, there is a literature base to suggest that anything below 3.5 is false positive. I only had this test done as a routine screening, not because I currently have or had symptoms. Do the numbers of my test suggest that I have HSVI or HSVII?
Avatar f tn In sum, if you get a positive Lyme test on a Western blot or ELISA test, it is likely accurate, but if you get a negative test on Western blot or ELISA test, it may be inaccurate: the test say you don't have it, but in reality, you very well could. PCR testing is not affected is this way, and is far more accurate as a result. PCR testing is offered *only* by IGeneX Labs and is considered highly accurate. An MD's signature is required to have this testing done, just as with W.
Avatar m tn 1) have you seen many instances in which positive results on the Elisa test came back negative on the WB and is there any way of knowing from my score of 2.99 whether that is a realistic possibility? 2) I read the Westover handbook and am having trouble distinguishing between "symptoms" and "outbreaks.
12563078 tn?1427508556 btw the test i took 23 days after exposure said it was 4th gen elisa for p24 antigen and the test i took this time says hiv 1,2 ag/ab screening test (4th gen)
Avatar m tn I have heard the that the Elisa/Western Blot test provides the best results. Are my results above just as accurate? Last, what can cause a low WBC count? I am currently going to meet with my physician to do some more testing over my WBC, but was wondering. I appreciate any feedback.
Avatar n tn At six weeks, I had a PCR DNA and a PCR RNA both undetectable and elisa negative. Also, at 9 weeks, I had an elisa negative and a PCR RNA negative. For someone who is hiv+ and has not developed antibodies, wouldn't one of the PCR's detect the virus?
Avatar m tn hi, im a 23 year old male, had sex with a sex worker and my condom broke, that was almost 3 months ago, i had an elisa test taken at 6 weeks negative, thenat 8 weeks negative, since i live in mexico, i dont know how good the test is.
