Avatar m tn 4) and I had Leucopenia (term for low WBC count?). I got scared after reading the causes for this and went in for testing for HIV using the rapid test. The test was inconclusive, from what the doctor said, but could maybe positive because he wasn't sure if there was faint line in the test result strip. So they drew blood again, sent it out for testing and asked me to come back in a week.
Avatar n tn Helo, all. I have posted here before. I hope someone will answer my question without making me feel like an idiot. I had, what is called, a low risk possible exposure in July - oral sex with a woman. I have tested negative elisa at 12 1/2 weeks. At six weeks, I had a PCR DNA and a PCR RNA both undetectable and elisa negative. Also, at 9 weeks, I had an elisa negative and a PCR RNA negative.
Avatar n tn Are these results conclusive for being negative for HIV or do I need to get another ELISA again on 90 days post? The odds I've figured for myself are about 1/20,000,000,000 which makes me feel pretty good (using 3% incidence which is probably very high in the first place). I've also read that the difference between 82 and 90 days is irrelevant. However, it's just one of those things where a very slight possibility still seems uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn if another antibody elisa laboratory test at 12 week is negative., can i neglect the positive results of previous rapid tests?
Avatar n tn Dear Doc (and forum readers), About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though. I don't have sex. No girlfriend. And I don't sleep with street workers. As far as I can remember, I have not come into contact with blood (except when killing mosquitoes).
Avatar n tn In Medicine, when elisa test is positive and western blot is negative, your HIV status is considered HIV Negative. But to rule out the possibilities, they perform PCR test. I am sure it will be negative. Let us know how it goes.
Avatar n tn ELISA will detect antibodies within few weeks. 3 months is the current guideline for conclusive negative result in most countries.
Avatar f tn So anyway I had a PCR-test for HIV 1 and 2 THREE weeks after that possible exposure and then again an ELISA-TEST of 4. generation THIRTEEN weeks later. Both test results are negativ. But my doctor is still advising me to let me test again 6 months after the exposure to be sure. Cant I just be sure of that i m definitely negative? Should i still be worried? Or am i possibly one of these exceptional cases by which the antibodies wont show up, even after 13 weeks?
Avatar m tn with refer to no.1. it seems HIV antigen (for ELISA test) could withstand for long period after taken out from human body? In addition, may I know what should do and dont's before blood sampling for ELISA test for HIV? e.g. fasting, take medicine, smoking, sufficient sleep, no fever etc....
Avatar n tn The WB test is used to confirm your sero-status after a reactive ELISA test taken at the three month mark. It is not used to determine your sero status @ 4 weeks. The cut off point from which you can be sure of your HIV status is three months. Tests taken before then cannot be considered reliable.
Avatar m tn ve 30.50.60.70.80.86.92.115 elisa test. it necessary to obtain the test to be negative anymore, all the days of 6 months?
Avatar m tn I had an elisa HIV test that was negative. I also paid extra for an HIV 2 test just to be sure. I noticed that in the results section of the HIV 1 test said the following HIV 1/O/2 ABS -ICMA. My question is does the standard ELISA test check for HIV 1 AND 2? I ask this because the the results look like the test checks for BOTH and for subtype O (ie. 1/O/2). Did I waste money on the HIV 2 antibody test? The HIV 2 test was kind of expensive.
Avatar m tn Of course ELISA test can be indeterminate. No an ELISA test is not that much different than a Rapid test. One takes a machine to process while the other doesn't.
Avatar f tn hiv tests are usually run in batches. this is why it can "sometimes" take up to a week or two to get your results. getting it done early really doesnt have anything to do with it...
Avatar f tn Currently seeing an infectious disease doctor because my Lyme disease western blot was positive. The doctor is doing another hiv Elisa test..he says the results will be available in 3 days. Is there a chance that the Elisa will be positive and that the rapid test didn't catch the infection?
Avatar m tn Sir, just would like to ask that for an immigration purpose i got the ELISA test one year ago and that's result was .09 out of 1.00 Cut off rate, unfortunately my immigration date expired and I had to take another test. In the second one the rate came .15 out of 1.00 Cut off rate. So my question is that why did the result reading increased is there some problem but both of my tests declared as Non-reactive. Hope you understood my problem.
Avatar n tn it is not "that" unusual for an elisa to throw off false results...BUT...a western blot trumps an elisa result every day of the week!!!
Avatar m tn Have swollen lymph nodes in my groin, and a little headache, also diarrhea. Had a 9, 13 day hiv rna pcr both negative. Also had an elisa negative at 16 days....How reliable are this results, especially with me having the symptoms? Could it be another std?
Avatar n tn Dr. EWH, My girlfriend and I tested for hiv and my girlfriend got the result back today. The result says "negative" and in "reference range" column states "nonreactive". It says that test was "hiv 1/2 ABS /W RFLX CONFIRMATION". It also says hiv-1/hiv-2 ABS ELISA. Does that mean ELISA was done first and then confirmed with something else? Or does it mean that it was confirmed by another test because the result of ELISA wasn't good?
Avatar m tn cmia reported to be positive in that report ELISA is negative. Respectively on 8 March, 30 March and 3 may go on a test center for HIV, the test is ELISA HIV1 2 (Ag AB), report the result is negative. I would like to ask the doctor I can exclude the?? and test center staff told me that CMIA inspection accuracy than ELISA high.
Avatar n tn The doctor told me that my ELISA test was positive and so they sent my blood sample for an Antigen Western Blot test which came back negative. The doctor told me that 99,999% the Elisa test was false because of other factors that might affect the blood but he asked me to retest in one week. Is it possible that I have contacted Hiv? If so, how? I used a condom and it didn't break. I also cannot have Hiv from previus relationships because I tested Hiv negative 9 months ago.
Avatar m tn 2) I asked the hospital to perform an Elisa test but for some reason they did the Chemiluminscence HIV test despite having an Elisa test available with them. Is there any difference between the two tests and if so which of the one is an accurate one? 3) Do I need any further testing post this after 6 months, the reason being I was diagnosed with kidney stones during the 3 month window period, so was just wondering if that would have any effect on my HIV result.
