elisa-test

Avatar n tn will an ELISA test detect all strains of HIV including groups N and O and all CRF's???
Avatar m tn There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.
1397253 tn?1280452864 it is advised to test out to 3 months post exposure for a conclusive result
Avatar m tn At 29 days post possible exposure I had an HIV DNA by PCR test, ELISA antibody test and testing for other STDs done. The PCR, ELISA antibody test and all STD tests except for herpes were all negative. In your expert opinion is a negative PCR and ELISA antibody test conclusive at 29 days? Concerning the herpes I had this well before this incident as my girlfriend told me she had it and I had been diagnosed with this a couple of years ago.
Avatar m tn 1. If the ELISA test is negative a western blot test is not needed. A negative ELISA test is conclusive. particularly so long after exposure.. 2. No, there is no risk for HIV from the cut that you experienced. This is not something for you to waste your time worrying about.
Avatar n tn If not can Life 360, fleetwood20, HowardH or gracefromHHP do some research on this herpes test & tell me how reliable it is in giving accurate results & if is a type specific test that can accurately differentiate between herpes 1 & 2 please?
Avatar n tn I know that this may not be very scientific but the condom was intact after intercourse. Subsequently I have had three tests done one PCR test 72 hrs after the event a ELISA test after 3 months and another ELISA after 8 months all were negative. But I guess due to my missgivings about the event I have lingering doubts about my HIV status. Further some sites and webpages on the internet speak about delayed serocoversion even as late as 12 months (specifically the HIV testing page on wikipedia).
Avatar f tn I will try and keep this short. I had a possible exposure to HIV about 5 months ago. The person I had relations with said he has been tested many times and has never had anything... but I don't know him well enough to believe him. I had a blood test done which looked for HIV antibodies at 4 months exposure and was negative (I do not know whether or not it was the ELISA). My question is how reliable are these results.
Avatar m tn Herpeselect is a manufacturers kit. You could have had this test but the way the results are presented seems otherwise. I don't really know. A level like 2.75 could indicate a rising level of antibodies more so than a longer term infection.
Avatar f tn I have always been healty (no cancer, no chemo, no surgeries, no transplats etc etc).I have taken 5 week elisa(negative), 6 week rapid (negative). I get my 8 week elisa results back today and I am absolutely petrified. My fiance and I have been so not right health wise for several weeks now. In your experience how often have you seen a 6 week anitbody negative later turn positive?
Avatar m tn The most common type of HCV antibody test is the enzyme immunoassay (EIA and Elisa) – (manufacturers–Abbott, Bio-Rad, Innogenetics, Ortho). In populations with a high risk for acquiring HCV, the accuracy of these tests is up to about 99%. The HCV antibody tests are very sensitive so rarely will they be false-negative unless the person is in the window period.
Avatar m tn what was ur exposure?after exposure when did u test?which was d test u performed?elisa?western blot?these question matter dont panic indeterminate result can occurs when not enough antibodies, lab err, contamination in blood etc.
Avatar n tn It has been 30 days since my last encounter and I got the Elisa test today just to feel at ease. The nurse at the testing center said after 14 days you can get the Elisa test and if negative not to worry, but if I am absolutely positive I have HIV I should get retested at the 3 month mark if I didn't trust the 30 day test.
Avatar n tn The test manufacturers suggest reporting lab results out in the fashion you suggest. They do so because they suggest that the test ratio may be helpful. the fact of the matter is that this is not the case. As for your "friends' test results, here is the bottom line: You do not have HSV-1 or HSV-2. The IgM test is worthless but is negative as well., The ratio is meaningless as well and should be ignored.

Avatar m tn the first blood of blood is not wiped before withdrawing it, will the test result (non reactive) be still valid? Manufacturers of Alere Determine HIV Combo Rapid Blood Test advise to wipe the first drop of blood after finger-stick to avoid tissue fluid.
Avatar n tn Yes i accepted it... but after read this article i get confused, if same thing happen to me... because i only done Elisa & EIA test for hiv, i have not done any DNA or PCR test... so i started to worry.
Avatar f tn I went to donate blood 1/20/2014 I got a letter stating I tested repeatedly reactive for the elisa hiv test. They did a IFA confirmatory test which came back negative and also took a sample of my donation and put it with a pool of other samples for a NAAT test which also my pool came back negative or non reactive. They told me that I was not living with hiv and can come back in 6 months to try again. Now 2 weeks after I got that letter I took an oraquick home swab test which came back negative.
Avatar f tn An RNA test would be accurate after 9 - 14 days, yours will be. You could have taken a 4th gen Elisa too, its accurate 4 - 6 weeks after exposure and it's available as a quick test.
