CAMBRIDGE, Mass., USA (April 6, 2009) Cell Press, an imprint of Elsevier, announced today that its flagship journal, Cell, as well as Current Biology and The American Journal of Human Genetics, were voted among the Special Library Association's (SLA) Top 100 Journals in Biology and Medicine of the past century.
I know how the test works (definitely one situation where being a biology major comes in handy), but I was wondering how accurate it is. Does anyone know what the rate of false positives is? Is a negative test result conclusive, or should I follow it up with an ELISA?

Doctors offer WB and ELISA at the same time in some countries where the patient pays for all his tests. In Canada they dont offer the WB test as patient is not paying for it, and the health ministry does the WB only when ELISA is positive.

t think that there is an error in your diagnosis in that you do have a spirochete band and also that the ELISA came up positive. I have read several new valid studies and lyme does hide out in the lymph nodes. Read for yourself. I am worried that you won't get the the right treatment. My husband has a Ph.D. in molecular biology and saw your results too and thinks you need to be treated. Doxycycline is the treatment for about 2 months.
Based on RNA interference (RNAi), the treatment cripples the virus in a molecular one–two punch, simultaneously disabling the bug’s ability to replicate and the host cell’s capacity to take up the virus.
The treatment is just as effective when applied from one week before to a few hours after exposure to the virus. So the basic biology of the prophylactic is responsive to real-world demands.

I knew I would test positive for hsv1 cause I had 2 cold sores in the past. First in 2007, second in 2009. And I never had an outbreak, at least to my knowledge.
After reading the forums, I decided to get a Biokit test done and the result was negative. I was happy at first to hear that but Grace mentioned that the test also has a false negative rate and the doctor did not let me see the results come up after he said he would.
