Elisa test for lupus

Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test for lupus

elisa-test

Avatar m tn A negative Western blot test means the ELISA test was a false positive test. The Western blot test can also be unclear, in which case more testing is done. Negative tests do not rule out HIV infection. There is a period of time (called the "window period") between HIV infection and the appearance of anti-HIV antibodies that can be measured. This period is 3 months from exposure. However, negative WB at 45 days is certainly very encouraging.
Avatar m tn I did a hiv test result elisa after two year? i recently test negative . And i have lupus . My had sex unprotect with a escort and About three later i had what i believe were hiv symptoms(sores in the mouth, night sweats , painful joints/ muscles, sore throat, discoloration in the mouth).and now still, My question said : i am afraid i don’t know this lupus symptoms or hiv symptoms can you help me ?
Avatar f tn m a chronic pain patient that was diagnosed with FMS, MPS, and DDD (nech and back). Recently, I tested at a 4.89 on the ELIAS screening test for LYME. Due to my medical history, my PM doctor referred me to an ID doctor who wants to run a lumbar puncture to assess the central nervous system. I read that this is an uncommon procedure for LYME testing. So my questions are -- 1) why are the conducting this test? 2) what else could be wrong (i.e., what causes a "false positive"?
Avatar m tn Some background includes growing up in South Africa for 12 years and I have had a TB Vaccination when I was younger - further Lupus does run in my family (tested negative) but positive on the ANA test for something "Autoimmune" ...
Avatar m tn t over and I want to try and find out exactly what is going on with me. I still think I will get the ANA test for lupus. If that test comes back fine, I'm just going to assume my first test was due to lab error. I will be sure to keep everyone posted as to my progress. I want to thank ageshore and lifeinhell for your support. You really helped more than you know. Hopefully my story will keep others from going through all the mental anguish I went through.
1136339 tn?1260661819 My first thoughts were Lupus too... however your symptoms could also fit in with lyme too. The ELISA isn't a good indication of lyme. It has WAY too many false Negatives. I think I tested NEG twice on the ELISA. Do you remember a tick bite? Rashes? You may consider seeing a Lyme Literate Medical Dr. (LLMD) and getting tested by IGENEX which is the gold standard for lyme infections. Good luck and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have done a couple of 4th generetion ELISA test wich came back negative after 3 months from posibble exposure. Am i safe? How can I be sure when these kind of reports pops upp? I am of Jewish descent. Please Help.
280418 tn?1306325910 So you see she also had an elevated sed rate and the outcome was lupus not lyme. She also responded well to steroids which is typical in lupus but not lyme. She would have gotten worse if it were lyme.
Avatar f tn MOVE ON. They don't do Western Blot tests on negative ELISA tests.
Avatar n tn I am going to ask my neurologist to test me for lyme soon. Should I tell him what test I want or should I just let him order a test he thinks is best? I'm going to start there and if he refuses to test me (which I doubt because he is a great neurologist) then I will see a LLMD.
Avatar f tn Being that the test was done about 15 days after contact, I fear that it may have triggered the Elisa test but the western blot did not catch anything? Being a male, not having lupus or any of those triggers, it is making me extremely anxious. I understand that the contact Was limited as there was no penetration or oral, only penis tip to nipples and hand to penis.... Would a test again help, even though I am only now one month in the window?
Avatar f tn if my last exposure with unpretected sex was on December 7th and took an Elisa test on January 19th, with a negative result....what do you think is the percentage of the test being positive in another 6 weeks? thank you for all of your help.
Avatar n tn Are these results conclusive for being negative for HIV or do I need to get another ELISA again on 90 days post? The odds I've figured for myself are about 1/20,000,000,000 which makes me feel pretty good (using 3% incidence which is probably very high in the first place). I've also read that the difference between 82 and 90 days is irrelevant. However, it's just one of those things where a very slight possibility still seems uncomfortable.
Avatar n tn I have interstitial cystitis and a couple other autoimmune disorders. I've been tested for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and sjogrens several times in the last 7 years but they've been negative. I have very dry eyes, some joint pain and ulcers that come and go in my throat (just beyond the tongue), and have lost my energy, always tired but do not sleep well. Is sjogrens tough to diagnose through bloodwork? I'm tired of all the doctors and they probably feel the same way! Help...
472212 tn?1207770866 in the expert forum, the 3 month conclusive test is the US, WHO, UNAIDS guidelines, the 6 month guideline test is just for special cases, like people that took PEP, that is under quimio for cancer, an that has other inmudiseases like lupus, ect. 3 month is conclusive and 6 weeks in very very encouraging but not conclusive regardin guidelines.
Avatar m tn t get better when the infection cleared my PCP did a lyme test. The ANA game back positive and ELISA positive for lyme. Started doxycycline last Monday for 28 days. Then the nurse called and said my Western Blot was negative but to keep going with the antibiotics anyway. I called the rheumatologist on July 2nd and he couldnt see me but did review my labs and said if I didn't feel better to go by this week and see him. Can having Lupus cause false positives on the lyme tests?
280418 tn?1306325910 I have no idea and my docs have no idea whats wrong with me. In sum - developed peripheral neuropathy 2.5yrs ago and it was very painful. My feet burn constantly, but in 2006 I could hardly walk, had serious weakness in all extremities and could hardly walk up a flight of stairs at 31yo. I had plasma electrophoresis 2 yrs ago and I barely recall one abnormal result and it was for Ig -something. I don't remember if it was IgM, IgG, etc.
561384 tn?1216372794 It does happen and the cause can be a number of reasons. That is the reason for a Western Blot. A Western Blot trumps an ELISA test. You are conclusively negative.
Avatar n tn So you're saying these two websites I posted from are bogus?? thbody.com and aidsmap.com???
Avatar m tn i already pass the 3 month period to get tested for HIV my question is , "HIV AG\AB test" after the three months it will be searching for the AB as well as it search for the AG if it found it, so what is the method used to search for the AB in the (HIV AG\AB) test , 2- is is better than the method in Elisa AB test after 3 months , 3- if i did h="hiv AG\AB" test after three months " is it conclusive as if i did HIV Elisa AB test" thanks in advance
Avatar f tn No matte what generation for test method , elisa generation 2 ? 3 or 4 ? Someone said 3 month is conclusive but some said 6 month & 12 month . Which is the correct timetable for conclusive test result ? Last test was 177 days by elisa negative but don't know what generation , was this result conclusive ?
Avatar f tn Hiye, this may seem a silly question but is the Elisa test that is used for HIV the same as the Elisa test used for rheumatoid arthritis?.. Is the Elisa just a standard antibody test that is not disease specific and if reactive then a specific test is used?..
