Avatar n tn If not can Life 360, fleetwood20, HowardH or gracefromHHP do some research on this herpes test & tell me how reliable it is in giving accurate results & if is a type specific test that can accurately differentiate between herpes 1 & 2 please?
Avatar n tn I have read some other papers about the HSV IgG test, one author think the IgG test was useless to clinic diagonse, his result showed the OD of the IgG(not IgM) might rise at first episode, but the recurrent patinent's OD was similar to the normal people, this paper was written by Doerr HW in 1987.
Avatar n tn 1. How about the Herpeselect Elisa test? 2. Is it ture that All patient , infected by HSV-II, could yield the specific antibody IgG after enough time ? 3. Would the IgG dispear in the recurrent patient? 4. Does the Herpeselect kit can test the microcrystalline IgG? 5. Does the Herpeselect elisa kit suit to the clinic diagnose? Thanks for your answers! Avatar m tn One more question. Do you have any advice for getting this test done if my provider does not cooperate and order the test?
Avatar m tn MEIA stands for Microplate Enzymatic Immunoassay. This is a synonym for ELISA, which is a better known name for the test. MEIA measures the presence of antibodies, which are produced by the immune system in response to HIV infection. Both the aforementioned tests are valid and in your case, you have taken them at a time frame which can certainly be considered definitive. You don't have HIV.
Avatar m tn I had a HERPES ELISA HSV Blood test (non-specific type). It is an IGG test. It came back negative. Is an IGG ELisa test still reliable even though non-specific type? I am worried my 2 negatives mean nothing now?
Avatar m tn a) Antibody to HSV - IgG (ELISA) Observed values Negative (/=16to22Ru/ml Positive ) b) Antibody to HSV IgM (Elisa) Observed Values 4.41 RU/ml -> Negative (/=16to22Ru/ml Positive ) The Doctor told me the results were just fine and I needn't worry. And that there was no need to get tested again. Today I noticed these small white spots around the rim of my penis. Also, I feel a mild pain in the groin area. Does this look like Herpes?
Avatar m tn It's an IgG test as well, perfectly fine for herpes but results can be a low positive, which then needs confirmatory testing.. You can read all about herpes testing in the Herpes Handbook here. http://www.westoverheights.com/genital_herpes/handbook/view_the_chapters/diagnosis.html If you're having difficultly getting your doctor to write a script for the WB through Quest, you can also contact Terri Warren's office through the above link I believe (contact us link I assume).
Avatar m tn Ask your doctor or google Herpes select, ELISA, or Western Blot testing. As long as it is an IGG test, and you take it 3 months after potential exposure, it will be accurate.
Avatar m tn Herpes Elisa antibodies test IgG type specific 11/14/2012 - result: 1.89 (labcorp) ^same test (same location, labcorp) 11/20/2012 - result: 1.65 HSV2 IGG INHIBITION,ELISA (quest labs) 01/2013 - result: The HSV-2 IgG screening assay was repeated at Focus Diagnostics, and the result was not positive (i.e., the index was <1.10); thus, the inhibition study result could not be determined.
Avatar n tn Most people say the IGM test is useless...the IGG test is the more accurate test. and your igg result is negative....
Avatar m tn find out exactly which blood test you were given - was it an IgM or an IgG, or something else? If it was an IgG, see if you can find out the specific kind - Immunoblot, ELISA, etc. Did you have any other sexual encounters in the few months prior to the one in November?
Avatar f tn If that is the result from an ELISA IgG antibody test then that is a perfectly normal reading from an established infection.
Avatar m tn Update on the specific test taken: > tSTD's site (where I ordered the test) says they use HerpeSelect 1 and 2 ELISA IgG > I also called Labcorp where I had blood drawn and tested, they said the test I had was #164905. Strangely, when I asked if that was HerpeSelect or Captia, she said 'neither', and to check with the doctor who ordered the test.
Avatar f tn Is the negative result  cut off line for HSV -1 a IgG level of 1.0 or 1.1? I asked the DR. What test they ran and whether it was a herpeselect, and whether there was an ELISA ratio listed. He said the ratio was listed as IgG and didn't see ELISA listed on the report. He told me the lab they sent it to was Solace, but didn't know the name of the test. It was a blood test. I believe my dr.
Avatar m tn As a quick summary of the timeline, although I had never shown symptoms to my knowledge, after I tested positive (1.1) for IgG ELISA in mid-September, I notified those I had close skin-to-skin physical (not even just sexual) contact with after ending a monogamous relationship, and those five or so individuals all had informed me they came back negative by IgG ELISA. I had seen a few other infectious disease doctors in my area, each of whom requested their own IgG ELISA tests (all in the 1.0-1.
