Avatar f tn Does anyone here have experience with the ELISA/ACT testing for delayed food allergies? This is a specific type of testing for delayed (food and other) allergies that supposedly is more accurate, with fewer false positives and greater sensitivity, but the vast majority of the reviews and articles about it online are by the person/company that does the testing. I've had blood tests over the years for over 80 foods and have delayed allergies (aka intolerances) to dozens of foods.
Avatar n tn Can you tell me what some cross reaction allergies are connected to strawberries? Everything you mentioned here are foods I'm allergic to. I am allergic to birch pollen and latex myself. And, I must be allergic to mugwort, although I don't know what that is, because I am definitely allergic to celery, which feels like I'm swallowing glass shards. The birch pollen allergy being connected to the wheat allergy. I never knew that. But, I am definitely gluten-intolerant.
Avatar n tn There is a lab called "Elisa/ACT" that can do allergy testing with blood only. They can check for allergies to foods, food additives & colorings, molds, environmental toxins, toxic metals, herbs, medications, pet dander, etc. However, your insurance may or may not cover the testing. My insurance did pay for the testing. The lab has a website if you are interested... you can find them via google.
Avatar m tn The blood test that I have had for food allergies is called R.A.S.T, it is the best one I know of. There are many food panels, and unfortunately, they are not all grouped together, so, they actually need to run many, but, they will run them from the one blood draw, at least they have mine. I do not remember how much it costs, but, I do know it depends on the lab and how many they do, you could always call a near by lab and just ask, that might be your best bet.
Avatar m tn Could you advise in which test is the most accurate for wheat, yeast, milk allergies. I heard about the ELISA test but searching on the internet it proved to be inaccurate. Is this right?
Avatar m tn Have you been tested for food allergies? Particularly wheat or gluten? Skin tests do not always show results, but ELISA panels do.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately with food allergies, the only way to truly identify them is to experiment. In the US that is the standard with food allergies. One thing to look for is sulfites (preservatives). Doctors here recommend that you keep a food diary of what you eat and when, then record any reactions with the time they ocur. There are some alternative medicine treatments that you may want to look into. I am sure that someone will post them for you. I hope you get some answers.
Avatar f tn by Springtime Inc. (just throw on top of food for dogs, for cats, crush up with back of spoon and mix in with wet food ) and it seems to make everyone noticebly more energetic/healthier. (My 17.5 year old cats used to sleep 24/7, now they are going outside, running around the house, chasing each other, etc...
Avatar n tn There are allergy tests for chicken; however, what you described was more like food poisoning. Most common form of food poisoning is from under cooked chicken. If you continue to feel ill, suggest you go to your doctor.
Avatar n tn Does Guy really need to wait for a confirmation test? What's keeping him from getting another ELISA done immediately. Possibly at another clinic.
Avatar f tn you were never at risk, if your doctor thinks you were in some risk the test to do ..... is an elisa a 4th generation test wich looks for antibodies and also for p24 antigen.
Avatar f tn Hi all -- I'm looking for your thoughts on the best tool to track/identify food allergies. I'm suspicious of glutten and msg senstitivites. I was looking at the Food Diary tracker and not sure if it will do what I'd like -- such as suggest ingredients in something that I may not recognize as something to be sensitive to. I'd love something that could report on trends identified, i.e. cracks in corner of my lips whenever I eat x amount of wheat/gluten. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn Would a 12 week Elisa and a 16 week UniGold Rapid test still be considered conclusive if you found out a month later that your latest WBC came up low during a routine physical? A follow-up test showed that my WBC returned to normal a few weeks later. I see on the internet that immunocompromised people can take longer to seroconvert, but I am not sure if I would be in that category. I never used drugs and I'm not on chemo. Nor do I have diabetes or any other diagnosed issue.
676912 tn?1332812551 As far as peas, be mindful of cross reactions. It is likely all peas because of cross reactions. A common allergen is tomatoes and their cousins in the nightshade family, but especially tomatoes. On any elimination diet tomatoes are forbidden while testing for sensitivities, which are like hidden food allergies. One doesn't necessarily test positive for these food sensitivities. Keep this in mind if you have had him tested for tomatoes and it tested negative.
Avatar m tn t really worry about much and had never been tested for HIV. So, I got tested at 5 weeks and 10 weeks both with a Uni-Gold Rapid test. The results were negative....I was ready to move on. Then I started feeling a pain beneath my left rib cage...I thought swollen spleen.....I've felt this pain for about 2 yrs now off and on...It's not a major pain just a throbbing or shooting pain.
Avatar f tn However, because my back test was inconclusive (my skin is uber sensitive), I was given a RAST test--and I came back negative for all food allergies. How is this possible? What else could it be? My allergist told me he thought I was making the whole thing up and that I could have challenges if I wanted, but he didn't think it was necessary. I am at a loss. I'm still avoiding those foods because I KNOW that I reacted to them (or sometime around them).
Avatar m tn i have taken HIV ELISA test after exposure of 5 months it came negitive the lab report is SAMPLR RECEIVED DATE 09/01/2015 SAMPLE TYPE SERUM HIV 1 & 2 ANTIBODIES BY EIA Test Description : HIV 1 & 2 Antibody TEST REPORT : NEGATIVE METHOD : ELISA O Interpretation Sample Reading 0.61 Cut off value 1.00 Positive >1.00 Negative <1.00 O NOTE Please Correlate Clinically can anyone please explain me the result.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried LDA for food allergies? I'm desperate! I recently tested positive to over 20 foods! I'm starving and feel malnurished. This is ruining my life. I no longer can go out to eat, travel, or be a guest at anyone's house. Friends have stopped inviting me to do things. My family thinks I'm exaggerating my allergies but when I eat an offending food, my mouth goes numb, tongue feels funny and my asthma is triggered. That is a very scary feeling to me.
Avatar n tn I have had RAST and skin test for food allergies and all are consistently neg. yet when I eat I get sore throats and stomach aches and chest symptoms. I am afraid to eat. My diet is very limited. Could it be allergies and they just not show up on test? I have never had hives or itching just upper respiratory symptoms or stomach symptoms.
Avatar n tn After a high risk exposure I had a primary herpes outbreak. Apparently I had it in my system and had been dormant. Along with my herpes outbreak I also experienced a month or two of numbness and tingling in hands and feet. Followed by joint discomfort. Wrists, ankles and even toes. Now this week I'm feeling discomfort in both armpits. I am 5 1/2 months out, still have urge to **** and been getting hemorroids. I was tested for HIV 1&2 neg at 98 days with ELISA test and at 137 days.
541196 tn?1293552936 I would also find an allergist that does blood testing for allergies and not just skin testing. I was skin tested for food allergies and it came up with only wheat for me. Then i was blood tested and 12 different allergies popped up. So im a huge advocate of blood testing for food allergies.
2038601 tn?1333407618 I am a woman who suffers with many allergies..including food allergies. Much of what is good for people is bad for me such as: fruits (all), many vegetables, nuts, wheat (my biggest allergy) just to name a few. I have been to an allergist and was told they have not seen a person like me in a long time...but because of that it has been very hard for me to loose weight. My nutritionist has been great in helping me get on track; however, I have lost touch with her because of my insurance...
Avatar n tn Most definately food allergies can come and go. It is very common actually for example for children with lactose intolerance allergies to actually get better ;and also vice versa for kids who weren't and then when they get into adulthood they become allergic to it. If you eat too much of one thing all the time your body can become intolerant of it and can cause an allergy. And finally yes, it is very possible to have a food allergy and not realize it until you have a reaction.
