Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test food allergies

Avatar n tn Can you tell me what some cross reaction allergies are connected to strawberries? Everything you mentioned here are foods I'm allergic to. I am allergic to birch pollen and latex myself. And, I must be allergic to mugwort, although I don't know what that is, because I am definitely allergic to celery, which feels like I'm swallowing glass shards. The birch pollen allergy being connected to the wheat allergy. I never knew that. But, I am definitely gluten-intolerant.
Avatar f tn Does anyone here have experience with the ELISA/ACT testing for delayed food allergies? This is a specific type of testing for delayed (food and other) allergies that supposedly is more accurate, with fewer false positives and greater sensitivity, but the vast majority of the reviews and articles about it online are by the person/company that does the testing. I've had blood tests over the years for over 80 foods and have delayed allergies (aka intolerances) to dozens of foods.
Avatar m tn Could you advise in which test is the most accurate for wheat, yeast, milk allergies. I heard about the ELISA test but searching on the internet it proved to be inaccurate. Is this right?
Avatar m tn Have you been tested for food allergies? Particularly wheat or gluten? Skin tests do not always show results, but ELISA panels do.
Avatar n tn There are allergy tests for chicken; however, what you described was more like food poisoning. Most common form of food poisoning is from under cooked chicken. If you continue to feel ill, suggest you go to your doctor.
Avatar f tn Hi all -- I'm looking for your thoughts on the best tool to track/identify food allergies. I'm suspicious of glutten and msg senstitivites. I was looking at the Food Diary tracker and not sure if it will do what I'd like -- such as suggest ingredients in something that I may not recognize as something to be sensitive to. I'd love something that could report on trends identified, i.e. cracks in corner of my lips whenever I eat x amount of wheat/gluten. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn Would a 12 week Elisa and a 16 week UniGold Rapid test still be considered conclusive if you found out a month later that your latest WBC came up low during a routine physical? A follow-up test showed that my WBC returned to normal a few weeks later. I see on the internet that immunocompromised people can take longer to seroconvert, but I am not sure if I would be in that category. I never used drugs and I'm not on chemo. Nor do I have diabetes or any other diagnosed issue.
Avatar m tn i have taken HIV ELISA test after exposure of 5 months it came negitive the lab report is SAMPLR RECEIVED DATE 09/01/2015 SAMPLE TYPE SERUM HIV 1 & 2 ANTIBODIES BY EIA Test Description : HIV 1 & 2 Antibody TEST REPORT : NEGATIVE METHOD : ELISA O Interpretation Sample Reading 0.61 Cut off value 1.00 Positive >1.00 Negative <1.00 O NOTE Please Correlate Clinically can anyone please explain me the result.
676912 tn?1332812551 As far as peas, be mindful of cross reactions. It is likely all peas because of cross reactions. A common allergen is tomatoes and their cousins in the nightshade family, but especially tomatoes. On any elimination diet tomatoes are forbidden while testing for sensitivities, which are like hidden food allergies. One doesn't necessarily test positive for these food sensitivities. Keep this in mind if you have had him tested for tomatoes and it tested negative.
Avatar f tn However, because my back test was inconclusive (my skin is uber sensitive), I was given a RAST test--and I came back negative for all food allergies. How is this possible? What else could it be? My allergist told me he thought I was making the whole thing up and that I could have challenges if I wanted, but he didn't think it was necessary. I am at a loss. I'm still avoiding those foods because I KNOW that I reacted to them (or sometime around them).
Avatar f tn The RAST blood test is the most accurate to determine what food allergies you may have. It covers 3 different panels of food, I have had them, and they definitely show things you are allergic to. I would ask your doctor to have the lab do this. Being allergic to seafood is nothing to take lightly, I would watch very carefully what you ate in that area.
Avatar n tn I found out almost a year ago that I have 21 different food allergies, most food allergies don't show up with the RAST test, mine were always negative too. It wasn't until I found Sage medical lab (Sagelab.com) that did a different type of blood test that I started getting some answers. You might want to check out their website, interesting stuff!
Avatar n tn Thanks. So if I got this right the hospital labs are using third generation, also, correct? The hospital I go to says they send some things out , but they are able to do elisa tests there, so I imagine they are third generation, correct? They said they batch them and run them once a day, I am assuming due to expense. I am going to get my test tomorrow and my allergies are really bad , Iknow the claritin won't casue a problem, but will the allergies themselves?
2038601 tn?1333407618 I am a woman who suffers with many allergies..including food allergies. Much of what is good for people is bad for me such as: fruits (all), many vegetables, nuts, wheat (my biggest allergy) just to name a few. I have been to an allergist and was told they have not seen a person like me in a long time...but because of that it has been very hard for me to loose weight. My nutritionist has been great in helping me get on track; however, I have lost touch with her because of my insurance...
Avatar f tn Unless you're allergic to peanuts, it's fine.
Avatar f tn So, has anyone else just randomly developed food allergies or intolerances? Two weeks ago milk products were fine. Now I cant have it at all, or I get really bad cramping and vomitting. Anyone else have this happen?
2191826 tn?1343830483 i have recently seveloped food allergies to meat milk an other things now i dont have anything to eat anymore since my life style requaires that i eat all food groups coz of my weak immune system. any ideas?
541196 tn?1293552936 Your symptoms do not sound like food allergies. Possibly, food intolerance, which effects the digestive system. There are a slew of gastrointestinal diseases that can cause the symptoms you are experiencing (ie:colitis, irritable bowel synsrome, diverticulitis, crohn's disease, and list goes on). Have you to tried an elimination diet to see what may be causing your symptoms?
Avatar f tn s itch persists despite strict flea control every month, antibiotics, antihistamines and the OTC hypoallergenic diet, then the potential reasons would be a yeast skin infection, microscopic skin parasites such as cheyletiella, food allergy unresponsive to OTC foods (many food allergic dogs require prescription foods such as Royal Canin rabbit/potato, and the key is to give nothing else but water since it only takes one bite of a non-hypoallergenic food to ruin the diet trial), or a different al
Avatar n tn Most definately food allergies can come and go. It is very common actually for example for children with lactose intolerance allergies to actually get better ;and also vice versa for kids who weren't and then when they get into adulthood they become allergic to it. If you eat too much of one thing all the time your body can become intolerant of it and can cause an allergy. And finally yes, it is very possible to have a food allergy and not realize it until you have a reaction.
Avatar f tn Have you checked the ingredients in your pet food? Did you know corn, wheat and soy are the three biggest culprits as far as food allergies in dogs and cats. Chewing on the paws, licking the feet, itchy, red flakey skin, dull coat, intestinal upset are common symptoms of a food allergy. I would try a Natural Super Premium pet food or an Organic pet food.
2065896 tn?1373685384 Have you tried another vet? or a skin specialist vet for an allergy test?, they do have them...Allergy test? Different food? grass? fleas? meds? etc? My dog does the same thing after 1 flea bite... I would keep searching for an answer and eliminate the source...Look up RAW diets maybe its something in the food...
Avatar f tn Most allergists have a list of common allergies that they test for. They do not have a full list of every food out there. When I worked for an allergist, if a person thought they were allergic to something that was not on the list, we had them bring the food in and would do a scratch test from there. I would get a second opinion and try to be tested for the foods that you are having a reaction to. I hope this helps you out. Good luck.
