Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test antigen

Avatar n tn 1) A Modern ELISA HIV test is extremely accurate. A NEGATIVE HIV test is CONCLUSIVE at 3 months. 2) A DUO test Antigen/Antibody assay is essentially two tests designed to detect recent infection (antigen) and antibody production (later). Keep in mind that HIV antigens are only detectable for about 3-4 weeks post -infection. By this time, antibodies are produced suppressing antigens but now these would be detected themselves. A completely reliable test when taken at the appropriate time.
Avatar m tn If the laboratory does DUO test - is possible, that laboratory used of 1st. or 2nd. generation ELISA test + p24 antigen, without 3rd generation ELISA? Or everytime must be used 3rd generation ELISA?
Avatar n tn so you think that a ELISA HIV TEST Third generation at 4 week is quite good indicator?
Avatar n tn Fourth generation ELISA for HIV1/HIV2 1) 4th generation ELISA is a DUO TEST (Antibody and Antigen Sandwich Test) .It actually looks for the P24 (protein) Antigen and Antibodies simultaneously. 2) P24 Antigen is almost always present in the body after acquiring the virus till the 4th week after infection and then it disappears . 3)Once the P24 antigen disappears, antibodies starts to show up.
Avatar m tn It is an ELISA test and yes it is 4th generation. "antigen" is the give away.
Avatar m tn As far as I am aware it is a reliable 4th generation test. The time you took it is also the proper and the result is conclusive.
Avatar m tn with refer to no.1. it seems HIV antigen (for ELISA test) could withstand for long period after taken out from human body? In addition, may I know what should do and dont's before blood sampling for ELISA test for HIV? e.g. fasting, take medicine, smoking, sufficient sleep, no fever etc....
Avatar n tn The antigen test does not eliminate the need to get a 3 month conclusive test if you test negative on the antigen test. P24 are not an approved stand alone test. They must be followed up with an antibody test.
Avatar m tn Just so I understand then a ab/ag is an ELISA that also detects for the p24 antigen aka duo test aka 4th gen test vs a standard ab test aka ELISA aka 3rd gen correct?????
Avatar m tn In the test result, it says the following: Interpretation for methid HIV 1/2 (CLIA) No Sign of HIV 1/2 Infection with IgG/AgM Elisa What is this test? Teak do u know it? Also, it mentions in the units : qualitative. What do they mean by qualitative?
Avatar m tn Two negative DUO tests are conclusive at 3 months. A Duo test is and ELISA test and an antigen test.
Avatar m tn 1)'Fourth generation ELISA for HIV1/2' is a HIV DUO TEST (Antibody and Antigen Sandwich Test) .It actually looks for the P24 (protein) Antigen and Antibodies simultaneously. 2) P24 Antigen is almost always present in the body after acquiring the virus till the 4th week after infection and then it disappears . 3)Once the P24 antigen disappears, antibodies starts to show up.
Avatar n tn The HIV antibody/p24 antigen Duo Test is an excellent, accurate and inexpensive HIV test that reliably detects HIV infection that occurred just 28 days prior to the test. This HIV test is known as the 'Duo' because it tests for both HIV antibodies as well as the 'HIV P24 antigen'. The HIV p24 antigen is a core HIV viral protein which becomes detectable at approximately 10 days post exposure, peaks at 16 days or so and then remains at high level for 8 to 10 weeks post exposure.
Avatar m tn Did you have an ELISA (Ab) test or a DUO (Ab + Ag) test? An ELISA test doesn't check for antigen. If you only had an ELISA test you should test again at 3 months just to be sure. But expect it to be negative.
Avatar n tn You should never been given a Western Blot test. Testing if one does test using an antigen test, is followed with an antibody test and if positive is confirmed with a Western Blot test in that order.
Avatar m tn Combo= Antigen + Antibodies Elisa= Antibodies
