Elidel side effects treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Elidel side effects treatment

elidel

Avatar m tn t want to use anything that will cause additional problems! I understand that Elidel does not carry the side effects associated with steroid creams such as skin thinning, but does Elidel have any serious side effects to the skin at all that I should be aware of? Also, if I do give it a try, how long should I expect to see results (a week, 2, a month) and how long is it safe to use it for? Or should I use something else instead?
Avatar n tn Okay, I know what Elidel is and that it is a non-steroidal treatment to dermatitis. However, I want to know if it thins the skin at all, to any extent? I read on the internet from multiple websites, that TCI's do not cause skin thinning or the side effects associated with steroid ointments, which is why it's usually used. However, one website stated that Elidel does not thin the skin "as much as" steroid creams do! So which is it for sure?

Avatar m tn I have only heard people taking psorlan drugs or UV therapy to try to repigment those white areas. Unfortunately psorlan drugs have side effects. Usually all the topicals require to either avoid the sunlight or use in the sunlight to activate them. I have light skin so mine don't seem as bad as those who are darker skinned. Then tend to show much more in all seasons, where mine is generally worse looking in summer months when I tan.
Avatar m tn Thanks again man, though I'm just curious as to how long you used the "elocon" for? Also, exactly what happened after using the elocon & what did you do to treat those side effects in particular "the weakening of the skin" you described?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis by a dermatologist and precribed Elidel or (pimecrolimus cream). I was told that Elidel does not have the side effects associated with topical steroid creams such as skin thinning and discoloration. This was necessary since the area affected is right on the skin around the meatus of my penis. Anyways, I used the Elidel for almost 12 days (twice a day) without any significant results, so I stopped.
Avatar n tn What effects would be likely to occur from 2 weeks use (twice daily) of Elidel on normal sensitive skin, specifically the penis glands? Basically if you were treating this area for what you thought was dermatitis although it turned out not to be anything serious in the first place, then what harm if any could this amount of treatment have done?
Avatar n tn The effects/ side effects would be the same if used on a normal skin, though these would be beneficial in dermatitis. If there are no apparent symptoms such as discolouration or dysuria a reaction is unlikely. Two weeks use of the ointment is unlikely to result in serious long term effects. Hope the information is helpful. Take care!

Avatar m tn My dermatologist says he doesn’t see anything to be concerned about and doesn’t believe there are any bad side effects from using the cream long term.
Avatar n tn What is the best topical (over the counter or presciption) for the treatment of sensitive skin damaged by the over use of strong topical medications (specifically potent steroid creams) which happened more than a year ago?
Avatar m tn ve been using Elidel on and off for around 7 years. I used it before treatment, during treatment and after treatment. In fact, I used it last night :) Yes, Elidel is "officially" indicated for Eczema, however it is prescribed for psoriais all the time. That is what I have. The beauty of Elidel is that it functions like a steroid without the problems of topical steroids -- namely skin thinning and steroid rebound.
Avatar n tn So, would/could Elidel cause ANY damage to sensitive skin after two weeks use such as thinning or any other side effects at all? < Please answer this question specifically! Also, shouldn't it have helped by now after 12 days use, if it was going to work?
Avatar n tn What time frame (in exact number of consecutive days) using twice daily, can Elidel be safely used on the penis skin without likely causing any side effects? 10 days? 2 weeks? A month? Please help!
Avatar f tn but it is not a symptom of atopic dermatitis. so i was thinking that my body is poisoned from elidel because there are side effects like rashes popping out of my face. i never experienced it before.
1227049 tn?1267237385 5%) for an extended period of time (probably since I got on the original accutane course) in these areas. I stopped it every now and then due to potential side effects, but nothing else worked, and it became too unbearable to manage, so I was forced to go back on it. I am already terrified of what could potentially happen if used for a long time (glaucoma is the main thing scaring the crap out of me) that I am trying to stop using it on my face with mixed results...
Avatar n tn The reason that elidel is administered topically is that little is absorbed and thus side effects such as immunosuppression are minimized. If you had acquired HIV, your test would be positive. Believe your test results. You do not have HIV and you do not need further testing.
Avatar m tn t always happen, but it is one of the side effects of Hydrocortisone or other corticosteroid products. This is extremely confusing. Why would my dermatologist prescribe me Hydrocortisone if he knew that it could worsen my hypopigmentation? (or at least the pharmacy told me that it could make the skin repigment). It's been one week since I first applied the cream. I frankly can't say I've seen any improvement. How long do you think I should continue using it?
Avatar n tn Hello, Accutane is known to cause hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation but these side effects are not permanent. You seem to be having post inflammatory hypopigmentation since it is occurring after bumps. Although this type of skin problem is very difficult to treat, but you can try Elidel cream or Protropic ointment on these hypopigmented areas. But use them after a dermatologist’s guidance.
Avatar n tn Well about a day and a half later I noticed that it was making my genital/groinal area completely warm, especially my penis. I was worried and I read the directions of Elidel and it said some common side effects are that it gives off a feeling of warmth in the area applied in the first 3-5 days or so. But it worries me because I didn't apply the cream at all to my penis, and I don't know why that would be affected. Unless it somehow made contact with the cream on my thighs.
Avatar f tn 19 year old male began having depigmentation around eyes, mouth, side of torso, full thumbs, and on finger tips at 18 years old. Dermatologist and GP think vitiligo but no visible improvement from prednizone 50 mg, betamethasone dipropionate .05% topical, elidel pimecromlimus cream 1%. Biopsy of skin on finger stated “a normal density of epidermal melanocyte which argues against vitiligo. No fungal, organism or increased much were found.
Avatar m tn Creams like Elidel cream or Protropic can be used on these hypopigmented areas but they are not without side effects. If the symptoms still persist then you can talk to your dermatologist about laser-assisted chemabrasion(LACA). It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Acne treatment does consist of Metrogyl as part of treatment, but it should not be prolonged. Metrogyl has got its own side effects. You can use topical retinoic cream and regularly wash your face with good face wash. I think this should help. Keep me posted. Bye.
Avatar f tn Some get really ill, with all side effects mentioned, others get some side effects, or not so severe and others fly through treatment. You can never know how you will react, until you get there. I have not started treating, yet, but I am preparing myself for the worst. If it won't be as bad as I expect, I will be happy. If it will be as bad, I will at least be prepared for it.
Avatar f tn Hello, I was just reading about an older dog having a problem with urinary incontinence and the treatment she was given, particularly the possible side effects. My White Bearded Collie (13 years old) started being incontinent last year and my vet has prescribed INCURIN 1mg daily. This has been mostly effective (just the odd occurrence when she was asleep or distressed). I was just concerned that it may have some serious side effects such as those mentioned for the other treatment (PPA).
