Avatar m tn I have Vitiligo and the dermatologist gave me Elidel to help with it, But I want to if Elidel really works before I waste my time with it, I am dark skinned but the light patches I have aren't white/pale their just a lighter brown, and most of my arms are the light colored brown, It's confusing because I though vitiligo makes the skin pale, please help me if you can.
Avatar f tn 19 year old male began having depigmentation around eyes, mouth, side of torso, full thumbs, and on finger tips at 18 years old. Dermatologist and GP think vitiligo but no visible improvement from prednizone 50 mg, betamethasone dipropionate .05% topical, elidel pimecromlimus cream 1%. Biopsy of skin on finger stated “a normal density of epidermal melanocyte which argues against vitiligo. No fungal, organism or increased much were found.
Avatar f tn Support groups and organizations are available to help people learn more about vitiligo, understand treatment options, and find support from other people with vitiligo. The American Vitiligo Research Foundation Inc. Avatar m tn Hello, Treatment options for vitiligo include steroids, psoralen photochemotherapy(PUVA),depigmentation and surgical therapy like skin grafting, micropigmentation or tattooing and autologous melanocyte transplants. However the choice of therapy depends on the number of white patches; their location, sizes, and how widespread they are and the option that is convenient to you. I would suggest you to discuss these options with a dermatologist.
Avatar m tn My 8 year old, caucasian daughter was diagnosed with Vitiligo. It is on her nose and eye socket. It seemed to occur around when she took a hard fall two months ago. At first I thought the cut wasn't heeling, but now I think that might have been the trigger (Koebner effect). Anyways, the dermatologist prescribed Desonide and Elidel by alternating the medicines each week and applying twice per day. So Desonide 2x per day for a week and then Elidel 2x per day for a week, etc.
Avatar n tn Dear All, About 3 yrs back I noticed a small white spot on my arm. My dermatologist said that it was Idiopathic guttate hypmelanosis. And that it needed no medication. Now I have noticed a few more spots. In all I have excatly 9 spots. But only on my arms and legs. These spots r white, small and properly round in shape. I went to another doc. And he has told I have vitiligo and has prescribed "elidel" and a corticosteroid "metaz". Now the name Vitiligo freaks me out.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have vitiligo for about 13 years now and tried nearly everything i can. My vitiligo got worse when I went to multiclear treatment every second day for 6 months and payed 4000 euro as the doctors cheated many of us, no one got any good sign but new vitiligo areas.
Avatar m tn Factors that can cause the fungus to become more visible include high humidity and immune or hormone abnormalities. Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines. Second possibility is of vitiligo. It is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin are destroyed. As a result, white patches appear on the skin in different parts of the body.
Avatar n tn Hello, It is very difficult confirming a diagnosis without examination but it can be post inflammatory hypopigmentation or vitiligo. Post inflammatory hypopigmentation is very difficult to treat but sometimes it goes away on its own after exposure to the sun. Creams like Elidel cream or Protropic can be used on these hypopigmented areas but without a dermatologist’s guidance it is not advisable to use them .
Avatar m tn Creams like Elidel cream or Protropic can be used on these hypopigmented areas but at such a young age it is not advisable to use them . If the symptoms still persist then you can talk to your dermatologist about laser-assisted chemabrasion(LACA). It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn ve been using Elidel on and off for around 7 years. I used it before treatment, during treatment and after treatment. In fact, I used it last night :) Yes, Elidel is "officially" indicated for Eczema, however it is prescribed for psoriais all the time. That is what I have. The beauty of Elidel is that it functions like a steroid without the problems of topical steroids -- namely skin thinning and steroid rebound.
Avatar m tn It seems as though my condition has improved somewhat, but not completely and I am wondering whether or not I should try the Elidel now since I want to get this resolved faster! So I want to know if Elidel is really safe for the penis skin, since on the instructions it says not to get in eyes, vagina, mouth or rectum. Okay, so what happens if some gets down into my urethra since the area I am treating is right on my meatus (skin at pee-hole opening)?
Avatar n tn Okay, I know what Elidel is and that it is a non-steroidal treatment to dermatitis. However, I want to know if it thins the skin at all, to any extent? I read on the internet from multiple websites, that TCI's do not cause skin thinning or the side effects associated with steroid ointments, which is why it's usually used. However, one website stated that Elidel does not thin the skin "as much as" steroid creams do! So which is it for sure?
Avatar n tn Could this be a possibility? Could the other spot be scarring from the acid treatment? From the looks of it, it doesn't fit the vitiligo description. If there are no negative health ramifications from this problem, I still have some concern from a cosmetic point-of-view. Are there any creams to help conceal/get rid of this?
Avatar m tn A few questions concerning the treatment of dermatitis on the penis skin: 1) Are there any serious complications to leaving dermatitis untreated for 9-10 months before treating it? Specifically would this prevent it from ultimately being healed or doesn't it matter when treatment is started in relation to how/when it is cured? 2) Is Elidel more effective in treating dermatitis than EpiCeram or other prescription skin barrier creams or not?
Avatar n tn What is the best topical (over the counter or presciption) for the treatment of sensitive skin damaged by the over use of strong topical medications (specifically potent steroid creams) which happened more than a year ago?
Avatar n tn I previously used Elidel 1% twice daily for two weeks on sensitive skin. I know what Elidel is and that it's an alternative to steroid creams for treatment of dermatitis & that is why I tried it. When I saw NO results after two weeks, I figured it wasn't going to help so discontinued using it. I want to know if that was too long to use without seeing any improvement (could it have done any harm)?
1282890 tn?1281364683 Thank you so much for replying, My problem is I have discussed these options with a dermatologist, and I have made the decision to depigment. My problem is that I live on a tiny island, and the dermatologists here are very inexperienced with vitiligo. I have been getting treatment, but it isn't working. I'd like to have depigmentation, because vitiligo is so stressful for me. This is the only way to go. I just wanted to know how it is done. But again, thank you so much for replying.
Avatar m tn Okay thanks, so then how long would you expect it to normally take for EpiCeram to work and completely clear the dermatitis, before I should turn to the Elidel? How about the Elidel?
Avatar n tn my 3 yr old rottie was diagnosed with vitiligo. Is there any treatment and will it affect her quality of life.
