Elidel cream for vitiligo

Common Questions and Answers about Elidel cream for vitiligo

elidel

Avatar f tn Dermatologist and GP think vitiligo but no visible improvement from prednizone 50 mg, betamethasone dipropionate .05% topical, elidel pimecromlimus cream 1%. Biopsy of skin on finger stated “a normal density of epidermal melanocyte which argues against vitiligo. No fungal, organism or increased much were found. Pityriasis alba could still be considered, but clinical correlation is needed”.
Avatar m tn thank you both I do remember getting the UVB narrowband before while I was taking the Elidel, for some reason I had stopped taking the Elidel and now I'm taking it again but I haven't had the UVB lately, I will ask them to use both of them again b/c my skin cleared up a lil bit when they did both.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had success with light treatment combined with topical cream in getting rid of vitiligo? I have been have treatments 2 times a week for 4 months and it does not seem to be helping at all.
Avatar n tn Post inflammatory hypopigmentation is very difficult to treat but sometimes it goes away on its own after exposure to the sun. Creams like Elidel cream or Protropic can be used on these hypopigmented areas but without a dermatologist’s guidance it is not advisable to use them . If the symptoms still persist then you can talk to your dermatologist about laser-assisted chemabrasion(LACA).It has provided excellent results in such hypopigmentation.
Avatar m tn Anyways, the dermatologist prescribed Desonide and Elidel by alternating the medicines each week and applying twice per day. So Desonide 2x per day for a week and then Elidel 2x per day for a week, etc. I asked about light treatment, but he said since she is getting lots of sun from being outside in the summer, it wouldn't matter. If it were winter, he would consider it. I have four questions: 1.

Avatar m tn While living overseas for a year (2010), I used a facial cream that contained monobenzone; it was for skin bleaching. I have not used any for 4 months now, however, i'm left with patches of discoloration on different parts of my face and, ironically, i'm a lot darker than I used to be and way more sensitive to the sun. Also, my skin is now patchy and continuously dry. Is there something that could be done about this; i.e.
Avatar n tn I have used elidel for approximately 3 years and have had nothing but excellent results!
Avatar n tn First of all that is not a topical treatment! I'm talking about an ointment or cream that helps reverse the effects of atrophy caused by the use of a potent steroid cream. I used Diprosone cream for 5 days(twice daily) & then a year later after minimal recovery I used Elidel (a non-steroid cream) for about 12 days(twice daily) both on the same spot on my penis glands! So what kind of damage would this have likely done & what can I use to help the skin return to normal again?
Avatar m tn Hi Dr.! Thanks very much for your answer. After applying Dermatix for 2 weeks and saw no result, I decided to see a dermatologist. He prescribed me: 1. Carmed cream 2. Hydrocortisone 2.5% 3. Adeps Lanae I've been applying them for only 2 days now, but I'm kinda wondering whether he gave me the wrong drugs. To my very limited knowledge (please correct me if I'm wrong), Hydrocortisone is used for eczema, so I was afraid he mistook my skin condition for eczema.
Avatar m tn Hello, White scars from wounds are due to post inflammatory hypopigmentation. Creams like Elidel cream or Protropic can be used on these hypopigmented areas but at such a young age it is not advisable to use them . If the symptoms still persist then you can talk to your dermatologist about laser-assisted chemabrasion(LACA). It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn It seems as though my condition has improved somewhat, but not completely and I am wondering whether or not I should try the Elidel now since I want to get this resolved faster! So I want to know if Elidel is really safe for the penis skin, since on the instructions it says not to get in eyes, vagina, mouth or rectum. Okay, so what happens if some gets down into my urethra since the area I am treating is right on my meatus (skin at pee-hole opening)?
Avatar n tn Hello, You should use Elidel cream for as long as your dermatologist prescribes.I have mentioned earlier that long term use has serious side effects. Moreover, regarding the rashes on the forehead in case of your daughter, it can be due to eczema and senorrheic dermatitis. Steroids are prescribed usually in eczema. I would suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get it examined. No use continuing with long term steroid use in children. Hope it helps.Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn It’s been more than 10 days I’ve been using this cream(twice a day) and it doesn’t seem to help(Desonide or Elidel helped in lesser time). So I wanted to know if clotrimazole 1% really helps treat seboherric dermatitis?
Avatar m tn I’ve been using Elidel Cream for several months on my face. I have been diagnosed with Rosacea and Seborrheic Dermatitis. I am concerned about using this cream long term. I have been trying to wean myself from the cream. Using ever other day and then every 2-3 days. I haven’t used the cream for 5-6 days and today my face is extremely red and bumpy. This is the worse it has ever looked. Is there a way to get off of Elidel and not have this redness.

Avatar n tn Last week I went to my dermatologist because It appeared as though I was starting to have an occasional breakout of psoriasis in my groinal/inner thighs area, which is a typical spot for it to break out on my body. My docotor pescribed Elidel and I started using it Wed night. Well about a day and a half later I noticed that it was making my genital/groinal area completely warm, especially my penis.
Avatar n tn Dear All, About 3 yrs back I noticed a small white spot on my arm. My dermatologist said that it was Idiopathic guttate hypmelanosis. And that it needed no medication. Now I have noticed a few more spots. In all I have excatly 9 spots. But only on my arms and legs. These spots r white, small and properly round in shape. I went to another doc. And he has told I have vitiligo and has prescribed "elidel" and a corticosteroid "metaz". Now the name Vitiligo freaks me out.
16465326 tn?1448202692 I've used the cream on my back for vitiligo and surprisingly it worked! I would recommend people to try it. Vitiligo is a weird problem because the solution is not crystal clear. One might find relief using one method, while others in another. It's important to try what you can and check off what works and doesn't work for you.
Avatar m tn Hi there! Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease that causes depigmentation of the skin.UVB phototherapy, PUVA phototherapy are the mainstay of treatment. Topical steroids are useful only in the early stages of the disease. They are not useful once the diagnosis is established. Usually low potency steroids are prescribed in vitiligo. If you think that your condition is worsening it is best to see the doctor as soon as possible. A timely checkup and reassurance will be really helpful.
Avatar m tn I was left with skin rashes too (eczema) but the doc gave me a topical cream which sort of helps.......I dont know about elidel but I would sure try and find out so I'm bumping this back to the top in case somebody else knows.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis by a dermatologist and precribed Elidel or (pimecrolimus cream). I was told that Elidel does not have the side effects associated with topical steroid creams such as skin thinning and discoloration. This was necessary since the area affected is right on the skin around the meatus of my penis. Anyways, I used the Elidel for almost 12 days (twice a day) without any significant results, so I stopped.
Avatar f tn February I was on a month worth of antibiotics for various issues . My face was clear . I went for a facial and got a bit of a rash , which I self treated with betaderm (cortisone) big mistake . I was diagnosed with perioral dermatitis and put on Apprilon (40mg of doxy) , metronizole cream, elidel and azelic acid . My face is covered in what looks like comeodones it almost looks fungal. All over , it’s also appearing sporadically on my chest .
