Elidel topical cream

Common Questions and Answers about Elidel topical cream

elidel

Avatar n tn First of all that is not a topical treatment! I'm talking about an ointment or cream that helps reverse the effects of atrophy caused by the use of a potent steroid cream. I used Diprosone cream for 5 days(twice daily) & then a year later after minimal recovery I used Elidel (a non-steroid cream) for about 12 days(twice daily) both on the same spot on my penis glands! So what kind of damage would this have likely done & what can I use to help the skin return to normal again?
Avatar m tn I’ve been using Elidel Cream for several months on my face. I have been diagnosed with Rosacea and Seborrheic Dermatitis. I am concerned about using this cream long term. I have been trying to wean myself from the cream. Using ever other day and then every 2-3 days. I haven’t used the cream for 5-6 days and today my face is extremely red and bumpy. This is the worse it has ever looked. Is there a way to get off of Elidel and not have this redness.
Avatar m tn • Continuous long-term use of topical calcineurin inhibitors, including ELIDEL Cream, in any age group should be avoided, and application limited to areas of involvement with atopic dermatitis. Also limit your exposure to sunlight.
Avatar n tn While a causal relationship has not been established, rare cases of skin malignancy and lymphoma have been reported in patients treated with topical calcineurin inhibitors, including Elidel Cream. Its usage is upto a maximum of 1 year. You can find more information about this drug from the following site: http://www.rxlist.com/elidel-drug.htm I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar m tn I was left with skin rashes too (eczema) but the doc gave me a topical cream which sort of helps.......I dont know about elidel but I would sure try and find out so I'm bumping this back to the top in case somebody else knows.
Avatar m tn It is very difficult to treat but sometimes it goes away on its own after exposure to the sun. Creams like Elidel cream or Protropic can be used on these hypopigmented areas but they should be used only after consulting a dermatologist . If the symptoms still persist then you can talk to your dermatologist about laser-assisted chemabrasion(LACA).
Avatar n tn Can you please recommend a topical cream/ointment for a case of psoriasis on the penis head? Thank you.
Avatar m tn It seems as though my condition has improved somewhat, but not completely and I am wondering whether or not I should try the Elidel now since I want to get this resolved faster! So I want to know if Elidel is really safe for the penis skin, since on the instructions it says not to get in eyes, vagina, mouth or rectum. Okay, so what happens if some gets down into my urethra since the area I am treating is right on my meatus (skin at pee-hole opening)?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis by a dermatologist and precribed Elidel or (pimecrolimus cream). I was told that Elidel does not have the side effects associated with topical steroid creams such as skin thinning and discoloration. This was necessary since the area affected is right on the skin around the meatus of my penis. Anyways, I used the Elidel for almost 12 days (twice a day) without any significant results, so I stopped.
Avatar f tn I’ve used steroids like desonide and elidel topical solutions before on my face. They worked fine, but dependency on the medicine increased(condition coming back when I stop using them). Recently, I got to know that clotrimazole is a good non-steroid alternative and started applying Clotrimazole 1% cream. It’s been more than 10 days I’ve been using this cream(twice a day) and it doesn’t seem to help(Desonide or Elidel helped in lesser time).
Avatar m tn Hello, Epiceram is a topical non-steroidal skin cream which is designed to treat atopic dermatitis, a type of eczema. Elidel (pimecrolimus) is an immunosuppressant. It works by decreasing your body's immune system to help slow down the growth of atopic dermatitis (eczema) on your skin. It is used when all other methods are ineffective. You should use it only when you are not benefitting from epiceram.
Avatar n tn Treatment is by topical steroids or oral therapy of corticosteroids in severe cases. Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are also useful. If still the symptoms do not improve then please get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn s like the skin is not as elastic and when the skin at the opening gets offset it rubs on my boxers and causes more irritation. Anyways could only five days use of this cream cause this and was I wrong to listen to my doctor and apply it there at the opening? Initially it was the skin inside the urthera that was red and irritated and the cream was to absorb into skin and treat it. I did not put it in the urethra but on top the skin right around the opening which some could have gotten in there.
Avatar f tn Dermatologist and GP think vitiligo but no visible improvement from prednizone 50 mg, betamethasone dipropionate .05% topical, elidel pimecromlimus cream 1%. Biopsy of skin on finger stated “a normal density of epidermal melanocyte which argues against vitiligo. No fungal, organism or increased much were found. Pityriasis alba could still be considered, but clinical correlation is needed”.

Avatar n tn I have not used the cream for 2 days but last night my face was a little flushed. I do not have rosacea, but is redness after stopping a topical steroid cream normal? I plan to use it every 3 days, then every 4, every 5 and then stop. Does that sound like a good tapering schedule or should I just stop cold turkey? I do know that topical steroids used for a prolonged period of time is not good. I do not have any bumps, just some mild redness.
Avatar f tn Hi When topical corticosteroids do not provide relief, sometimes more the doctor may consider prescribing some more potent corticosteroids for some period, in adults with may be needed for adults with eczema on the scalp, limbs, and trunk or those with chronic/ lichenified eczema. Newer two topical eczema drugs like pimecrolimus (Elidel Cream) and tacrolimus (Protopic Ointment) are reserved only for cases where corticosteroids have not been effective.
Avatar m tn Creams like Elidel cream or Protropic can be used on these hypopigmented areas but at such a young age it is not advisable to use them . If the symptoms still persist then you can talk to your dermatologist about laser-assisted chemabrasion(LACA). It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Dr. HHH, I posted several months ago about my concern with topical Elidel and it possibly supressing my immune system so that the OraQuick test wouldn't detect anti-bodies. I tested 3,4,8 months out with the rapid oraquick swab. I also had my doctor do a blood draw and tested EIA 6 months after possible exposure. All test were negative.
