Yes, Elidel is "officially" indicated for Eczema, however it is prescribed for psoriais all the time. That is what I have. The beauty of Elidel is that it functions like a steroid without the problems of topical steroids -- namely skin thinning and steroid rebound.
It seems as though my condition has improved somewhat, but not completely and I am wondering whether or not I should try the Elidel now since I want to get this resolved faster! So I want to know if Elidel is really safe for the penis skin, since on the instructions it says not to get in eyes,vagina, mouth or rectum. Okay, so what happens if some gets down into my urethra since the area I am treating is right on my meatus (skin at pee-hole opening)?
Okay, I know what Elidel is and that it is a non-steroidal treatment to dermatitis. However, I want to know if it thins the skin at all, to any extent? I read on the internet from multiple websites, that TCI's do not cause skin thinning or the side effects associated with steroid ointments, which is why it's usually used. However, one website stated that Elidel does not thin the skin "as much as" steroid creams do! So which is it for sure?
thank you both I do remember getting the UVB narrowband before while I was taking the Elidel, for some reason I had stopped taking the Elidel and now I'm taking it again but I haven't had the UVB lately, I will ask them to use both of them again b/c my skin cleared up a lil bit when they did both.
A few questions concerning the treatment of dermatitis on the penis skin: 1) Are there any serious complications to leaving dermatitis untreated for 9-10 months before treating it? Specifically would this prevent it from ultimately being healed or doesn't it matter when treatment is started in relation to how/when it is cured? 2) Is Elidel more effective in treating dermatitis than EpiCeram or other prescription skin barrier creams or not?
What is the best topical (over the counter or presciption) for the treatment of sensitive skin damaged by the over use of strong topical medications (specifically potent steroid creams) which happened more than a year ago?
I previously used Elidel 1% twice daily for two weeks on sensitive skin. I know what Elidel is and that it's an alternative to steroid creams for treatment of dermatitis & that is why I tried it. When I saw NO results after two weeks, I figured it wasn't going to help so discontinued using it. I want to know if that was too long to use without seeing any improvement (could it have done any harm)?

I have to keep a cream on the sore areas all the time because if the area dries out the pain is terrible. Do you think a cream like Elidel would work? Do you have any suggestions to help me? What can I do to Help this at home? What is the best treatment for vaginal eczema? please help..
Dermatologist and GP think vitiligo but no visible improvement from prednizone 50 mg, betamethasone dipropionate .05% topical, elidel pimecromlimus cream 1%. Biopsy of skin on finger stated “a normal density of epidermal melanocyte which argues against vitiligo. No fungal, organism or increased much were found. Pityriasis alba could still be considered, but clinical correlation is needed”.
My question is 1) I don’t know if I have skin cancer, because of the overuse of elidel(pimecrolimus1%, recently I also found out that elidel should not be used for more than a month or so, because of the chances of skin cancer. I used it for more than a year. I might have used it 50 to 60 times so far. I always have had this anal problem and the scalp problem, from almost ten years now. I don’t know about the other medicines over usage, the doctor never told me.
I was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis by a dermatologist and precribed Elidel or (pimecrolimus cream). I was told that Elidel does not have the side effects associated with topical steroid creams such as skin thinning and discoloration. This was necessary since the area affected is right on the skin around the meatus of my penis. Anyways, I used the Elidel for almost 12 days (twice a day) without any significant results, so I stopped.
After a month i broke out with atopic dermatitis again but this time it was red itchy bumps so she gave me elidel to use for 3 and a half months.. Whenever i stop elidel there are itchy pimple like rash on my cheeks with a little whithead that is tiny but oozes fluid! Is that a withdrawal from elidel?!!
Today I use Rozex Gel 1% which looks fair for maintenance but does not eliminate the redness, sometime I use Elidel for 102 days, I am affraid to use Elidel because I heard 2 docs telling it can cause cancer, but Elidel evidently remove the redness from the face.
Any advice from the lovely people here in this forum will be deeply appericiated.
I have read that Elidel can possibly help to reverse skin atrophy, and definitely does not cause any itself. Is this true, & how so? If not, then what effect would Elidel have on thin skin that has suffered atrophy from the use of strong topical steroid creams?

Anyways, I have been using the Elidel for about 10 days now, and have NOT seen any noticable difference in my skin condition.
When using Elidel, a TCI, commonly used to treat eczema or dermatitis; how long should it take (using twice a day) to start seeing results? I used this for 12 consecutive days with no improvement in my skin discoloration or tenderness, & I was using it on naturally thin skin to treat what I thought was dermatitis. I have heard that it takes longer for Elidel to take effect compared to a low strength steroid cream, but exactly how long should you use it for, without noticing any improvement?
Dr. HHH, I posted several months ago about my concern with topical Elidel and it possibly supressing my immune system so that the OraQuick test wouldn't detect anti-bodies. I tested 3,4,8 months out with the rapid oraquick swab. I also had my doctor do a blood draw and tested EIA 6 months after possible exposure. All test were negative.
I’ve been using Elidel Cream for several months on my face. I have been diagnosed with Rosacea and Seborrheic Dermatitis. I am concerned about using this cream long term. I have been trying to wean myself from the cream. Using ever other day and then every 2-3 days. I haven’t used the cream for 5-6 days and today my face is extremely red and bumpy. This is the worse it has ever looked. Is there a way to get off of Elidel and not have this redness.
I stopped using elidel because I developed cold sores on the areas around my mouth that I put the elidel on. Every morning I wake up and the skin around my mouth is tight and dry. After I wash my face with cerave cleanser, I pat my face dry and apply vanicream and then vaseline around my mouth. Then I usually see some droplets of liquid forming.
A couple years ago a dermatologist prescribed Elidel and gave me a sample. I used the sample and it worked pretty well - the only thing that has worked. However I did not go and get the prescription because I did some research on Elidel and found that it was related to some cases of cancer. I would really like to use it, or an alternative, but I am worried about the risk of cancer directly related to Elidel.
