Effexor xr normal dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Effexor xr normal dosage

effexor

Avatar n tn Hi there, I was on Effexor XR 150mg for a couple months only. It did nothing for me and actually brought back a lot of my anxiety symptoms. The only drug that works for me, for anxiety/OCD issues is Zoloft. I went off effexor in a matter of 5 days and the withdrawal was the worst I have ever experienced. I have a pretty resilient body though and medicine, etc moves through me pretty quickly. I would say that my withdrawal lasted 2 weeks while it was REALLY bad.
Avatar n tn I've been put on effexor xr 75 mg for a week now. I know this is a powerfull drug... Does this problem need to be fixed with such a hard drug? How long should I take it? Is it possible to get off it without pain or painfull symptoms? I really need your help.
Avatar f tn It has taken 2 months of pure hell to get completely off the effexor. I haven't had any effexor in 3 weeks. I still am having some problems with needing lots of sleep (l0 hours and a nap if I'm not working). The exhaustion is come and go--mostly go! Ear and tooth pain is still here.)off and on) I'm still short tempered with people. I think these things are due to withdrawl. YES I KNOW THIS DRUG IS ADDITIVE NOT HABIT FORMING.
Avatar n tn I'm a stay at home Mom of a 3 year old and since deciding to try for #2, my husband and I thought it would be safest to be med free during my pregnancy, since the effects of Effexor in pregnancy has not really been studied. I took 75mg of Effexor XR for a little over a year for general anxiety. I have been weaning for almost 3 months as gradually as I could. My last weaning was for almost a month at 18.5mg.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has ever had negative side effects from drinking beer while on Effexor XR. I recently went on vacation and drank beer for 11 days straight. A few times I got pretty drunk. Since then, I have been depressed and feel like my medication is not even working. I believe the beer nullified the effects of my Effexor XR. It has been 2 weeks now since I have drank anything and still feel that depressive, blue, unable to concentrate or make decisions feeling.
Avatar n tn I was just weaned off of Effexor XR. After 1 week of taking the half dosage, three days ago was my first day being off of it. I felt fine the first day, but yesterday My body started to feel wierd and today its multiplied by at least 10 times. It feels like Im in some sci-fi movie. It feel likes a combonation of the feeling of when your leg (arm, etc.
627095 tn?1222040689 Also keep in mind that your depression will most likly return (if you indeed really suffer clinical depression) I would assume that you do if you were prescribed Effexor in the first place. Side effect with Effexor are normal, but your sound pretty bad. How come you didn't swap it for a different medication years ago if the side effect you get from it are so bad?
Avatar n tn I have been on Effexor XR 150mg for about one year. After running out of my script, I decided to stop taking it cold turkey. I am also taking Clonazepam 0.5mg as needed for anxiety and my doctor said increasing the dosage to 1mg as needed would help with the withdrawal symtoms. However, it has been 5 days off the Effexor XR and I am still having horrible withdrawal. Does anyone know how long the withdrawal effects will last so I can live a normal and happy life again!
Avatar n tn I have been on Effexor XR for probably 5 years now and am taking 150mg daily. For quite a while now I have been experiencing word-finding problems. Simple words and names that I may use on a daily basis are just lost and it takes considerable thought to remember the simplest thing. I also am not able to concentrate on school work very well. I don't no if its just me or the medicine because I have been on it for so long. I also just do not feel as smart and bright as I used to.
Avatar n tn I DID NOT REALIZE THE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTONS OF EFFEXOR XR 150MG DAILY FOR A YEAR WERE GOING TO BE.
Avatar n tn It is a wealth of information about other's experience with effexor XR and it is a must read, guys!!! IF YOU ARE TAKING EFFEXOR THEN YOU ARE A HUMAN GUINEA PIG.
Avatar n tn Which is exciting and intimidating, because I've taken Effexor and Effexor XR for more than a decade. Over the summer, I cut my dosage in half, to 75mg. And now I'm struggling. I feel more anxiety, and I generally feel more vulnerable, reactive and tired. I also find I become angry more easily. All of which has had a negative impact on my quality of life and makes it more difficult to work. I appreciate people sharing their experiences in this forum. It's helpful to know I'm not alone.
Avatar n tn My girlfriend was taking Effexor XR. For how long I don't know and what her dosage was I don't know either. I had no idea she was taking it or I would have tried to convince her not to. On 11/25/07 she quit taking it taking cold turkey and ever since she has been an emotional wreck. After hearing all of this I started to do some research on the side effects and withdrawl symptoms and found that everything she is going through is common. How long can we expect to go through these symptoms?
Avatar n tn Hi, I have begun Effexor Xr 37.5 mg. for basic anxiety- I worry alot.. I have gone on/ off for years, the stigma of being on meds. gets to me. I am a healthy, school teacher and am not depressed.. more like a cat on a hot tin roof, worry about alot, especially my health (not really a hypocondriac, but close!). I have had weird things happen like a virus of some sort that made my liver enzymes go out of whack.. so, 6 months of blood work, ultrasounds on liver etc..
532848 tn?1214348768 I can't write much, because I recently switched from Effexor XR to Cymbalta and I can barely function. One Pschiatrist (not mine...I'm suffering..
Avatar n tn First, my heart goes out to all who have posted their stories of horrible withdrawal symptoms as a result of discontinuing usage of Effexor XR. I started on Effexor XR about ten months ago due to severe depression and anxiety. Just over two weeks ago, I started to wean myself off of my maximum daily dosage of 112.5 mg. For 8 days, I took 75 mg per day, and then lowered it to 37.5 mg for another 8 days.
Avatar n tn The withdrawal from Zoloft was gradual over 2 weeks and fairly trouble free, except for extraordinarily vivid dreams. The first couple of weeks of Effexor XR seemed pretty normal; energy level was up, though I was feeling a little “off” which I attributed beginning a new drug. Because of miscommunication between my psychiatrist, insurer and drug store I had the misfortune of actually running out of my prescription and was without for a couple of days.
Avatar n tn I began to realize recently that the majority of the health problems I've been experiencing are all likely related to my taking 150 mg of Effexor XR daily. I was on the dosage for a few years, but was able to be weaned off of it successfully (no noticable withdrawal symptoms) in late 2004. (My doctor had me take 75 mg for three weeks, followed by 37.5 for another three weeks.) After starting a new job and additional new life stressors, I reluctantly went back on the medicine in late 2005.
Avatar n tn I have been reading all the posts here and i'm still confused... I had been taking effexor xr at 150mg for 1 yr until my dr upped my dosage to 300mg she said it was for the "worst case patients" and it worked great for me....I was doing so well in life emotionally...I even lost over 50pnds which I credit to the drug....I was doing so well that I decided I didnt need to drug, so I stopped...COLD TURKEY.........BAD IDEA!...I dealt with HORRID withdrawls for over a month....
607502 tn?1288251140 I was on effexor xr for a while I liked it...I didnt have any weird side affects...I am now taking lithium...I think they might put me back on the effxor too so we can figure it out together I guess...by the way thanks so much for all the help....My docs decided on lithium if you didnt figure that out!
Avatar n tn I have read the closed forum headed "Withdrawal Symptons from Effexor XR" to see if other's are/have experiences when stopping Effexor. I have gone 'cold turkey" which I know I should not have after only taking a small dose of 75mg in the morning along with 2 Ritalin for about 2 years (before that taking 150mg). I had forgotten to get my script and I thought I should try to see if I could do without the Effexor.
Avatar n tn This is both a question and a comment. I have been off my Effexor XR 150 mg. for about a week now. Starting about a month ago i started weaning my self off slowly with lower doses. I feel like complete crud. my nerve endings are on overload and I cried when a character died on a video game today. Does everyone else feel this way? I don't want to go back on the medicine but I don't know if I can take this much longer. Does anyone know any way to make this better? Oh yeah - my Dr.
Avatar f tn I then took Effexor and later ther Effexor XR. Effexor XR allowed me to live a reasonably normal life raising a child and having a career. For at least 3 years my depression has slowly gotten progressively worse. My counselor and I believe it is time to add an additional medication, possibly welbutrin or change to a different antidepressant. Currently I take 300mg of effexor XR. This is the same level I have taken for the entire time I've used effexor. I would like input and advice.
Avatar n tn I have been on Effexor xr for 4 1/2 wks. It has done nothing for my anxiety and actually feel worse now agoraphobic. They had me up to 150mg which made me feel unreal and out of it so they put me back down to 75mg. I know its not right for me the side effects are too bad. My question is how to get off I am so scared of the withdrawl symtoms. I have had every s/e on it including confusion muscle tension dizziness insomnia agitation to name a few so will the withdrawl symtoms be worse.
Avatar n tn She checked her palm pilot for side effects and said there was not data showing shortness of breath as a side effect and ended up sending me home with a prescription for Effexor XR 150mg. I went home and typed in EFFEXOR and shortness of breath and thank God I did because there were many sites addressing this issue. I called my MHFNP back on Friday to try and advise her I saw this on the internet.
Avatar n tn Today, I decided to do a search on the side effects when coming off Effexor XR...so here I am. I started taking Effexor XR in the fall of 2001. The doctor that put me on it was a joke - he tried other stuff, finally putting me on Effexor and when it showed signs of working, he just kept increasing my dosage. Not knowing enough to advocate for myself (and half admitting that I was feeling better), I ended up on 300ml/daily. That was almost 3 1/2 years ago.
Avatar n tn My doctor has been weaning me off Effexor XR 150 mg over a 2-week period while at the same time starting me on Lexapro 10 mg a day. The first week I took 75 mg a day of Effexor XR and 10 mg a day of Lexapro; the second week 37.5 mg a day of Effexor XR and 10 mg of Lexapro. The third week I was completely off the Effexor XR and was only taking Lexapro 10 mg a day. I began to feel horrible. I cried non-stop and had electrical shocks going through my head.
Avatar n tn I switched to Effexor XR about a year ago because Zoloft was not doing enough for my depression. I was and still am taking Wellbutrin XL to combat the sexual side effects. Shortly after I started Effexor my doctor also put me on Seroquel. So I have been on these 3 drugs for the past year. Last month my doctor suggested I up my dosage of Effexor from 150mg to 225 mg.
1064120 tn?1254795583 You can swap them with no need to taper off the Zoloft. Keep in mind that Effexor XR has no Norephinepherine effect below the 150Mg dosage mark. Thus you will simply be taking another SSRI much like Zoloft at such a low dosage.
Avatar n tn What are the effects of taking 75mg of Effexor XR, 100mg of Lamictal and 1.5mg of klonopin in the evening, plus Lunesta for sleep? How is this affecting my brain and liver? I have Bipolar 2 with mixed episodes plus generalized anxiety disorder and have been hospitalized twice in the past 10 years for severe depressive episodes.
