Effexor vs tramadol

Common Questions and Answers about Effexor vs tramadol

effexor

Avatar f tn Tramadol is just as addicting and worse to come off of .I would look into non narcotic aleratives . ...
Avatar n tn The antidepressant included in tramadol is close in chemical structure to the antidepressant effexor which is generally accepted as the hardest AD to withdraw from, hence the difficulties many have getting off tram. The problem arises from the metabolites of both drugs which have long half lives making withdrawal a non-linear drawn out process.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am doing the same as you, and am now on wellbutrin 300 sr, along with Lamictal 200MG, and down to 37.5 effexor from 225. I want to taper to 25 and then be off it but it seems the last tapering is somehow the hardest. for two weeks, I have tried and get into crying, zaps, depression..so I am going to ask for Tramadol.
Avatar f tn Hi, I take Tramadol for my chronic back pain. Initially my pain Dr. did not want to prescribe Tramadol for me since I take Effexor for depression. But after taking so many pain meds, and needing to try a new one, he agreed to let me try Tramadol slowly. The Tramadol has worked well for me, and luckily I didn't have any problems with the combination of drugs. Actually the Tramadol has really helped my mood ( I think because of the snri). So I have started to taper off the Effexor.
Avatar f tn I wondered if there was a similarity between Tramadol and Effexor! I was put on Effexor after my dad suddenly passed away and I was taking alot of Tramadol during that time as well. After I'd begun taking it, I felt less need to take Tramadol but had the thought that something was similar between the two drugs. Unfortunately my personality and everything else changed for the worse causing me to lose my relationship with my fiance'.
1128565 tn?1316721143 s chemical structure is very different. The closest relative to Effexor is tramadol. I know Tramadol already been used for Effexor withdrawal due to their similarities. Tramadol possesses weak agonist actions at the μ-opioid receptor, releases serotonin, and inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine.
Avatar f tn I have been on Effexor for over 5 years for depression. ...never quite getting the relief I needed. My Doctor added Seroquel and Tramadol -very low dose- and boom...have never felt better. I have taken this combo for over two years. Some days , I forget the Efexxor 35 mg and those are the only days I feel irritated and bad. I really think I need to get this med out of my system, as it never worked well, and because I take such a low dose now, it prob. is doing nothing.
376940 tn?1241682007 I was on a narcotic and wanted to change to Tramadol. So Im on tramadol now. But, Im also taking-Effexor,neurotin,Soma,Seroquel xr. Why did my Dr. prescribe Tramadol with all that Im reading Im afraid. Help.
4757133 tn?1358797625 I also take Effexor 150mg XR in the morning. And 100mg Effexor tablet (generic) in the afternoon. I also take a 150mg of wellbutrin at about 10am. Now I'm taking a 50mg dose of tramadol for dental problems. And occaisenly a m357 vicodin. Also a bunch of b vitamins and c vitamins. I also drink a lot. And really with what dental work I've had done this past week hardly ate anything in a week. Anyone have any commits on this? Just checking out other thoughts. Thanks.
1128565 tn?1316721143 You don't have to ask for melatonin, it is sold in health food store. A medication that you can ask for for temporary use is tramadol (usually a low will be more suitable for you to prevent opiate addiction, so you can ask for tramacet which is 37.5mg tramadol and 325mg acetaminophen) since it's really close to Effexor and it already been used to make the Effexor withdrawals less intense.
4753943 tn?1359934569 Having just gotten off Tramadol, I'd just be so careful. It's not all that different from Effexor, from what I understand, chemically. I'm a bit surprised that a doctor would prescribe it with an antidepressant and say it's not addictive :( Here's what Drugs.com has to say about Cymbalta and Tramadol (brand name is Ultram): http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/cymbalta-with-ultram-949-2273-2221-1474.
594907 tn?1227309164 Tramadol (ultram) and effexor. The effexor is used for vasoconstriction, because when I get my episodes which are still quite frequent (like daily) my heart gets involed in the process and doesn't know what to do. My heart rate will go up to 140 150 and right down to 30 bpm. Sorry so long. Please feel free to write back. For some reason your e-mail did not properly show.
Avatar m tn In fact, from what I have been reading, Tramadol works like venlafaxine (Effexor) does, even when it comes to the withdrawals, or easing off the medication. I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there who has had the same results with Tramadol or has been prescribed Tramadol for depression?
Avatar m tn i have never taken wellbutrin but my daughter does, i have taken effexor. for me the effexor was terrible, but some people on this site do very well with it. it made me extremly tired, heart palpitations, raised my blood pressure, jaw pain and many other problems. my daughter says the wellbutrin helps her depression but makes her anxiety worse so if you have anxiety you may have to take something for that on top of the wellbutrin. in my opinion, effexor is horrible, i hated it.
Avatar f tn This is my case and it is difficult to understand what I am suffering from most now as the effects of being on effexor are much like a thyroid gone bad. And since I stopped effexor and all antideppresson drugs almost 7 months ago. However now I feel effexor withdrawls are worse. I am aware of this happening and am trying to deal with both problems. Has anyone else felt this same thing and if so how do you deal with it, how do you tell which is which, thyroid or effexor?
Avatar f tn Hi. I wanted to know if anyone experienced this. I am taking 375mg effexor xr and tramadol for arthritis in my hip it is a pain medication. I am 46 yrs. old never got in trouble with anything until I started taking the effexor xr nothing phases me. So what do I do I have been stealing from my friends i stole a ring, now i am going to court for it I admitted to it. So my friends are not my friends because it is a circle of neighbors that all hang out.
Avatar f tn I was successfully addicted to tramadol for many years !!!! As IBK said tell us more tramadol can be just as addicting as other opiates. doctors are big on saying its not addictive but many of us found out the very hard way that was wrong ....
Avatar f tn I am detoxing off off tramadol. I took a break from hell in the form off 3 suboxone over 2 days. I am feeling like I am getting worse! Did I put myself right back where I was and wasted the week of hell I've just gone through?!? I need to know approx: how long this detox pain will last for? This is my first time on this forum thing, so please somebody answer me. I've been awake for 5 days. Except yesterday I got 3 hrs sleep when I took the suboxone.
Avatar n tn Not true that people find Effexor more effective. They all affect each individual differently. Effexor tends to have far more side effects than Zoloft, and is known to be much more difficult to quit. On the other hand, are you sure Zoloft is any safer during pregnancy? Whatever the case, you'll have to taper very carefully off Effexor before you start Zoloft so you can tell which is a side effect of Zoloft and which is a withdrawal effect of Effexor.
Avatar m tn I mentioned about switching from Effexor Xr 225mg (which on my own I lowered to 150mg) He said that Effexor XR affects two different areas of the body whereas Zoloft only affects one area. Now he mentioned NOTHING about keep taking the Effexor Xr in lower does while I make hte switch to Zoloft. Am I supposed to just switch right over to Zoloft and discontinue the Effexor Xr??
Avatar n tn I suspect the depression is caused by withdrawal from the antidepressant component of tramadol. As with effexor, following a taper with tramadol is much gentler on the brain but as you are already off, (which is a great thing), you may want to talk to your md about trying an antidepressant to help restore your brain chemistry. On the non prescription side, 5htp or St John's wort can work equally as well.
Avatar f tn Like most of you I was put on Effexor to help with a depressing, stressful time in my life. That was 15 years ago and may I add about 75 pounds less ago. I have gained a tremendous amount of weight taking this drug. At 55, I am trying to eat clean, exercise, lose weight and get in better physical condition. I have wanted to stop taking this drug but just like all of you the side effects were so bad I kept going back on them after usually one to two days.
Avatar n tn Never rush coming of psych. meds. I'm on Effexor, as Citalopram didn't help.Am on it for life, as I've relapsed several times, only to end up in Psych. Hospital. Consultant insisted that it is in my best interest to remain on Effexor 150 mg as a 'maint. dose. Along with 3.75 mg. of Zopiclone (sleeping tablet) Since I've not quitted Effexor I can't answer your question. Take longer than you are tempted to before you quit.
1544088 tn?1293661019 nope ive never heard of tramadol. what is it? and if I took it would i get hooked on it to like effexor.
