1142540 tn?1261368153 Hundreds of people have blogged and complained about how the acne drug; Doryx, is linked to losing huge amounts of hair on the scalp. I'm experiencing the same problem. had very thick coarse and pretty hair. Now it's becoming thin stringy and nappy. I am freaking out big time and really sad. I'm 22 years old and my dermatologist has had me on this drug for a couple years and at first this did not happen, now it comes out in clumps and I shed everywhere.
Avatar n tn The DEA laws have changed so much that most pharmacies legally can't fill refills early or dispense new narcotics even if the patient pays cash to avoid insurance restrictions. Paying cash to avoid insurance scrutiny is a classic symptom of doctor-shoppers which is why the Feds have put even more regulations on pharmacies in these situations.
Avatar n tn I am 32 years old and have been prescribed Doryx and a topical acne medication for slight facial and back acne. I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed glasses by the optometrist about a year and a half ago and it was +.50 in both eyes I don't think there was astigmatism in either. (Can't find original presc card) I've never had a blury issue but was instructed to wear them all the time by the doc. things close up make my eyes feel more relaxed with glasses on but the glasses sometimes make my eyes feel like they are working harder at a distance but everything is clear near and far with them on.
562511 tn?1285904160 Medicare has quit covering many medications this year. My prescription insurance plan is lousy and quit paying for one of my medications all together. I wanted to share with you a prescription card I got in the mail the other day. It said it was free to use (uh huh, sure) Not that I'm cynical or anything. Yesterday I decided to use it and guess what? The prescription that usually costs $30.00 cost me $9.00. I can live with that. I don't know if the discount is always that good.

Avatar m tn I decided to self medicate with 150 mg Doryx twice a day that I had at the house. Been taking for about six days now. The discomfort just started to go away today on the sixth day. Here are my questions: 1.What are my chances that I caught something and what? 2. Could I have gave it to my wife? 3. Will the Doryx clear up anything I could have caught? 4. How long should I keep taking it? 5.
Avatar n tn I started taking Doryx 250 mg as prescribed by me derm around oct 16...the first week was fine but then I noticed the 2nd week I was losing double the amount of hair in the shower. These weren't even new hairs, but complete long strands were falling off and i've never experience that before. I nearly had a heart attack! I've currently been off the medication for almost a month now and the im still losing more hair than I used to.

2105194 tn?1333812786 I have been on Dilantin for 41 years. I currently take 400mgs. daily. I have strange thoughts, some that really strange. I asked my doctor to change my meds. But after checking with the drug stores, I can't afford to change, I don't have any insurance. I just recently found a prescription card for Dilantin only. I was paying $75/mth. With the card I pay $24/mth. Anyone have any suggestions?
1974758 tn?1330821166 You can ask the pharmacist what your savings discount is over the phone, by simply supplying the information on front of the card. The free discount prescription drug card we distribute saves up to 75% (on average 25% on brand-name drugs and 65% on generics). It can be the difference between someone in need filling a prescription or doing without. These savings are based on the fact that we have over 58,000 pharmacies processing millions of prescriptions annually.
Avatar f tn Do you have insurance or coverage of some kind now? Because a co-pay card is just for co-pay. The part your responsible for with your prescription drug coverage. If you see a doctor .....they are involved in you getting the prescription. It comes from a specialiy pharmacy. It's delivered to your house by UPS/FED etc. You can't just get it at the corner pharmacy. What thier saying is you need to get to a doctor and get the program rolling.
5684059 tn?1374435322 Just wondering if my pregnancy medicaid would cover prescription prenatal vitamins?
Avatar n tn A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine. About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.
Avatar f tn s opinion was that I could stay with my current glasses as the change in my vision was very slight and I did not have any change to my astigmatism, but, as I mentioned before, my glasses are a wreck and I need a new pair so I was given a new prescription card. When I got my new glasses, everything was distorted and gave me a massive headache and nausea. Could my new prescription be incorrect? My OLD prescription is (Distance only): O.D. -1.25 (sphere) O.S. -1.00 (sphere) -0.
Avatar m tn I've been prescribed Keflex, Bactrim, and now Doryx. Still won't go away. I don't go out anymore because of this condition. I don't know what I would do if I met a really cool girl. Oh wait, I'd probably just walk right past her and look the other way, even if she tried to talk to me. This condition is so embarrassing. I've taken about 16/30 of the Doryx medication (Qty. is 30) The marks don't seem to be going away.

Avatar f tn I agree, contact your insurance provider and if it's covered it will be under your dme coverage (durable medical equipment). Plus under the new Obama care act by law your insurance is suppose to pay for a rental or supply you with a new pump. I reside in PA and have blue cross and my insurance covers me to have a medela or amenda pump. And I can use what they'll cover towards a better pump and only have to pay $ 98 for a pump that retails at $ 285.
Avatar n tn Another thing you may want to look into is sometimes there are local outreach programs for prescription assistance. It would depend on where you live as far as what is offered. You may want to check with your local SSRI, or social services folks. They usually know all of the help that is available. Doing a Bing seach for prescription assistance in your area may help too. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn Lyrica is a VERY expensive prescription but it works well for nerve pain. When I was taking Lyrica my dr had given me a discount card. it allowed me to get the prescription for $25.00 instead of almost paying $300.00 a month. I would ask your dr if they had samples that they get from the drug reps too. Looking at Pfizers website like suggested by the above poster is a great idea too! Good luck to you!
Avatar m tn Also corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then please get a biopsy of the sores done. That will clear the picture. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn Hello, I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections. Thank you. This has been a very helpful and informative forum.
Avatar m tn The doctor deemed it as a possible UTI and I was on a regimen of Doryx 150mg qd X 14d. I abstained from any sex for the duration of treatment. The burning had long subsided and I engaged in intercourse with my partner, who 2 days later found out she tested positive for chlamydia. I had been off of the Doryx for about a week when I found this out and went straight back to the doctor to receive treatment for chlamydia infection. I was treated this time with doxycycline 100mg bid X 7d.
