doryx and weight gain

I am 32 years old and have been prescribed Doryx and a topical acne medication for slight facial and back acne. I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.

My scalp has also been very dry and itchy with dandruff. I never had any of these problems before Doryx and so of course I stopped about a week ago. My hair is at least half of what it was last year. Please help someone if you know anything? How devastating as a woman to have to go through this. If losing hair was listed as a side effect (like it should be), I would not have taken this. Clearly it's no coincidence.

I started taking Doryx 250 mg as prescribed by me derm around oct 16...the first week was fine but then I noticed the 2nd week I was losing double the amount of hair in the shower. A lot of MSers report weight gain, and I think the fatigue just leads to inactivity, and of course, inactivity brings weight. If only we could turn down the volume on hunger. I'm not about to take amphetamines or whatever does this, but I'd sure like to find some natural solution. Ideas, anyone?

All ssris and snris have as a main side effect weight gain. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it might be happening to you. As for wellbutrin, that's more of an antidepressant only, and can cause additional anxiety. Might not, but it might. And it, too, might cause weight gain. cj is right, you'll have to be especially careful about your diet and exercise, and even then you might have weight gain; I did. Sometimes it's a choice between feeling good and looking good.
