I am 32 years old and have been prescribed Doryx and a topical acne medication for slight facial and back acne. I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.
I decided to self medicate with 150 mg Doryx twice a day that I had at the house. Been taking for about six days now. The discomfort just started to go away today on the sixth day. Here are my questions:
1.What are my chances that I caught something and what?
2. Could I have gave it to my wife?
3. Will the Doryx clear up anything I could have caught?
4. How long should I keep taking it?

I started taking Doryx 250 mg as prescribed by me derm around oct 16...the first week was fine but then I noticed the 2nd week I was losing double the amount of hair in the shower. These weren't even new hairs, but complete long strands were falling off and i've never experience that before. I nearly had a heart attack! I've currently been off the medication for almost a month now and the im still losing more hair than I used to.
I happened to open my new bottle by accident and inside are bright orange pills!! The bottle says doxycycline hyclate. Does anyone know if there is a difference? I dont know why the pharmacy filled it with the orange tablets, ive only been taking the brown and white pills.
I can't find too much info online about the difference. And my pharmacy is now closed until Monday and I have no doxy left that is the brown and white kind.

A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine.
About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.
After a week I still felt slight discharge but, then he put me on doxycylline hyclate. I went to a local practioner two days later and I complained of symptoms of constipation and the slight discharge. The doctor told me to get off of doxycylline hyclate and drink metamucil to cure the constipation. So, it seemed to be i was relieved. But, two weeks later i noticed this symptoms again and i havent had sex since. The last time i had sex was a month ago.
I've been prescribed Keflex, Bactrim, and now Doryx. Still won't go away. I don't go out anymore because of this condition. I don't know what I would do if I met a really cool girl. Oh wait, I'd probably just walk right past her and look the other way, even if she tried to talk to me. This condition is so embarrassing. I've taken about 16/30 of the Doryx medication (Qty. is 30) The marks don't seem to be going away.

I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections.

that didnt help.so i went to this doc who has prescribed me Doxycycline Hyclate for 20 days. i started this doxycycline hyclate drug on june 19. and there is improvement 1st day itself. there was relatively lesser discharge today. also, i didnt feel any block in my ear whole day which i used to feel before.
I have been taking doxycycline hyclate for several weeks, would symptoms (e.g. sore tendons in the back of mu legs, momentary soreness in muscles, white filliform papilae) show up sooner (i.e. within 3-5 days) than the normal period? I have not had a fever, sore throat, or swollen lymph glands in my armpit or groin.
Is it safe to take doxycycline hyclate for bronchitis since I have both intestinal cystitis and gastroparesis?
The doctor deemed it as a possible UTI and I was on a regimen of Doryx 150mg qd X 14d. I abstained from any sex for the duration of treatment. The burning had long subsided and I engaged in intercourse with my partner, who 2 days later found out she tested positive for chlamydia. I had been off of the Doryx for about a week when I found this out and went straight back to the doctor to receive treatment for chlamydia infection. I was treated this time with doxycycline 100mg bid X 7d.
He tested me with the urethra swab and gave my doxycycline hyclate, just in case I had any infections. I also went into the free health clinic for the same gono and chlamydia test but also got blood for syphilis, didn't bother for hiv because it was too early. After I started taking the Doxycycline hyclate, I got a cough. Got both tests back, all negative. (Hiv and herpes are untested and unkown) Cough is still on going for 4 weeks now.
I recommend taking Doxycyline Hyclate. This antibiotic will most definitely kill the bacteria, which is causing your tongue to burn. You will gain immediate relief upon the first day of treatment. The symptoms will return!
