but then i started on cephlexin oral 500 mg...was on it for 20 days...it was almost gone...was happy for a few days...then i ran out of medication and my doc. perscribed doxycycl...and it began to slowly come back...i told him this.. but hes like theres nothing i can do for you...as i was schedualed to see a dermatologist...the derm says i have folliculitus caused by staph...and there is not be.migh guessing at what it cure only treatment...

I am 32 years old and have been prescribed Doryx and a topical acne medication for slight facial and back acne. I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.

I started taking Doryx 250 mg as prescribed by me derm around oct 16...the first week was fine but then I noticed the 2nd week I was losing double the amount of hair in the shower. ALL of which were before 3months except one was exactly to the day 12 weeks, i continued to have skin issues (reoccurring leg and arm folliculitis) and tested again because of the internet saying it could be attributed to HIV. Hello, I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections. Thank you. This has been a very helpful and informative forum.

The burning had long subsided and I engaged in intercourse with my partner, who 2 days later found out she tested positive for chlamydia. I had been off of the Doryx for about a week when I found this out and went straight back to the doctor to receive treatment for chlamydia infection. I am a firm believer in Masturbation, 20 years ago I had a very severe bout of Prostatitis, I was on an antibiotic called Doryx for about nine months, my doctor sent me to a Urologist for a finger in the rectum exam, at that stage my prostate was not in real good condition.

My only worry is that after the event I developed folliculitis (never had it before and which I believe is a sign of ARS), which comes and goes still to this day. I've been diagnosed with Folliculitis on my face and my Dermatologist put me on Minocylcine 100mg for two weeks (2x a day). I've noticed that it's clearling up, but I had a small outbreak today--I've been on the antibiotic for about a week now. Also, about 3 months ago when I noticed the Folliculitis, I was experiencing severe dizziness, and I am still dizzy all the time.

Discontinue shaving for a while and aside from antibacterial soap and topical antibiotics, warm compresses may help. Folliculitis may resolve on its own. If it persists, have this evaluated by your doctor for proper management. It is important to keep the area clean and dry. Try to avoid scratching the lesions to prevent secondary bacterial infection.
