I am 32 years old and have been prescribed Doryx and a topical acne medication for slight facial and back acne. I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.

I decided to self medicate with 150 mg Doryx twice a day that I had at the house. Been taking for about six days now. The discomfort just started to go away today on the sixth day. Here are my questions: 1.What are my chances that I caught something and what? 2. Could I have gave it to my wife? 3. Will the Doryx clear up anything I could have caught? 4. How long should I keep taking it? 5.

I started taking Doryx 250 mg as prescribed by me derm around oct 16...the first week was fine but then I noticed the 2nd week I was losing double the amount of hair in the shower. These weren't even new hairs, but complete long strands were falling off and i've never experience that before. I nearly had a heart attack! I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.

but then i started on cephlexin oral 500 mg...was on it for 20 days...it was almost gone...was happy for a few days...then i ran out of medication and my doc. perscribed doxycycl...and it began to slowly come back...i told him this.. but hes like theres nothing i can do for you...as i was schedualed to see a dermatologist...the derm says i have folliculitus caused by staph...and there is not be.migh guessing at what it cure only treatment...

Hello, I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections. Thank you. This has been a very helpful and informative forum.

The burning had long subsided and I engaged in intercourse with my partner, who 2 days later found out she tested positive for chlamydia. I had been off of the Doryx for about a week when I found this out and went straight back to the doctor to receive treatment for chlamydia infection. I was treated this time with doxycycline 100mg bid X 7d. 9 days later I was feeling ok and engaged in intercourse but the next day my right testicle was pretty tender feeling and my scrotum was very droopy.

i only go to the pharmacy and ask for the best medicine and they give me a generic medicine name doxylag. after 3 days the intense itching is lost. i take doryx for 1month now. and now i feel a little itching in the skin of my pubic hair. my question are.. 1) What are the long term side effects of doxycycline? 2) Do the bacteria are wash out? 2) After my 1month cycle of doxycycline im now free in any disease? 3) When can is the best time to notice the "white stuff"?

This is a question about vaginal cysts. For a few years I've had re-occuring labial cysts. Bartholin's glands, Skene's glands, general sweat glands--you name it, I've had a cyst there. The only way to really know is to have a viginal ultersound done. Cysts are very common so I would see a ob/gyn before you get yourself worked up over it. I had several cysts in my uterous before I had my hysterectomy.

I went online today to find the answer to this question and then realized the question didn't even exist. After a long search I found it in this forum from 2004. It was never really answered. A woman said she had dark pigment in her inner thighs and developed cyst(like cystic acne) in sync with her menstrual cycle that were large and painful and itchy. Did I mention painful. I'm guessing the pigmentation is due to insulin resistance and a stressed pancreas.

I am very sorry I really do not know anything about your problem. I think a doctor would have to explain it.

When spring this year began I started drinking ginger tea for my allergies, which is wonderful for them! Anyways usually I'll slip up and have to have caffeine (if you just found out you have breast cysts and don't know yet, caffeine make them swell and become very painful) so I drinking more then a couple ounces of caffeine which always as me in pain the next week. That week came but the pain didn't. I looked it up and sure enough ginger balances hormones!

That is the normal plan for most cysts and I am glad he is only waiting 6 weeks. Some doctors will wait months and I feel that is inappropriate. Pay attention to your body. If you have an increase in pain get back to the doctor. Good luck as you playa the waiting game.
