doryx and sunburn

I am 32 years old and have been prescribed Doryx and a topical acne medication for slight facial and back acne. I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.

My scalp has also been very dry and itchy with dandruff. I never had any of these problems before Doryx and so of course I stopped about a week ago. My hair is at least half of what it was last year. Please help someone if you know anything? How devastating as a woman to have to go through this. If losing hair was listed as a side effect (like it should be), I would not have taken this. Clearly it's no coincidence.

I started taking Doryx 250 mg as prescribed by me derm around oct 16...the first week was fine but then I noticed the 2nd week I was losing double the amount of hair in the shower. These weren't even new hairs, but complete long strands were falling off and i've never experience that before. I nearly had a heart attack! I've currently been off the medication for almost a month now and the im still losing more hair than I used to.

I had a Henia last year 2007 this pinched my bladder but gave the symptoms of a Urine Infection, I saw another Urologist who gave me the finger in the rectum examination, between the exam and blood tests the Urologist told me I had the prostate of a 35 year old and had just a 5% chance of ever getting prostate cancer. About two week later I started getting a discomfort feeling in the end of my penis and urinating more frequemtly. What are my chances of catching something? I do take a number of supplements including Centrum, CoQ10, hyaluronic acid, fish oil, an aspirin and Lipitor. Only Lipitor has been long term and that does not appear to increase sunburn sensitivity (though rashes are possible). Is this a normal part of aging or are there other factors involved?

Thus this Doryx may only show that coated pellet forms of doxycycline monohydrate and hyclate are perhaps less likely to cause GI upset.

A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine. About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.

the redness around my nose comes and goes, sometimes it will crust up and go away other times when it comes i try to wash my face or anything i do to it just makes it worse, its also spread out through my mustache sometimes and i finally got the courage to ask a derm spec and they said it was an infection around my nose and mouth so she prescribed a topical cream called PROMISEH, and some antibiotics called DORYX. i take them and they do nothing .

I've been prescribed Keflex, Bactrim, and now Doryx. Still won't go away. I don't go out anymore because of this condition. I don't know what I would do if I met a really cool girl. Oh wait, I'd probably just walk right past her and look the other way, even if she tried to talk to me. This condition is so embarrassing. I've taken about 16/30 of the Doryx medication (Qty. is 30) The marks don't seem to be going away.

m not concerned about the little water blisters but the big blister are quite scary and keep getting bigger and bigger (one of them popped and had so much liquid in it my whole leg was drenched), also my left ankle and foot(where the biggest blister is) have become incredibly swollen and slightly discolored. It hurts like the dickens to stand or bend my legs and hurts the most after I've been laying down and go to stand up.

Hi I have been experiencing extreme itchiness on both hands(on the back of my hand not the palms) and arms especially my righ arm up to half my fore -arm.it started 4 days ago and they look red and swollen .the affected area starts from above the thumb joint towards my wrists and forearms.(the fingers are spared) it has burning sensation and itches mostly during daytime(not at night). I had a much milder similar experience 3 years ago after walking on the beach for 2 hours.

So I went to the beach 4 days ago, and I got a sunburn only on my back, and it hasnt even been that bad and it hasnt even bothered me until last night, and now it feels like I am being stabbed randomly with needles all over my back. Its complete random and it will not stop.

It does not occur anywhere except the area of my chest that is normally seen through a neckline opening and across my nose and a little bit of my cheeks. I am 50 years old but still have oily skin. Any suggestions?

It can be normal for a sunburn to swell if it's bad enough- but obviously you don't want to allow yourself to burn to that level regularly. Make sure to stay hydrated, use aloe and cold compresses if you are in pain. If you have a fever, experience chills, have symptoms of dehydration, or get blisters- you will want to get to your doctor or go to the emergency room.

Hello, I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections. Thank you. This has been a very helpful and informative forum.

Hello, It can be due to sweat dermatitis, moisture(due to sweating or frequent washing), the abrasion caused by clothing, the pressure of sitting, chemical irritants like laundry soaps, colognes and scented toilet paper, certain food irritants, infections like STD’s and pinworms, anal abrasions and fissures and skin problems such as psoriasis, seborrhea and eczema. Apply cool compresses on the area and take bath with cool(not very cold) water.

Anyways, I literally layered that stuff on my face and the next day it looked and felt so much better.

what treatment should i take for it and how much harmful is this sunburn and itching for my skin....what kind of disease can i have if it continues in this way??

I was at the pool and i got sunburn on the top part of my back and its blistering and i was out in the sun for 3 hours and my face is alittle burnts .

I live in Maine and have only had a few opportunities to get our in the sun since getting pregnant and am finding seriously within 10 min I'm starting to get burnt when I've never had this issue before. I'm 36 weeks today. Wondering if just hormone change?! Or the vitamins?!

I went to the lake to celebrate memorial day and I didn't realize that I was getting burned. When I got home I looked lobster red (I don't tan). Is it dangerous to get that much sun when your pregnant?

Can it hurt my baby if I got badly sunburned and am in pain? And what are things to help relieve the pain?? I would do anything to make it heal quicker..

It would make sense that it is a sunburn, if you were out in the sun that long and it was that hot out! So you probably got a bit of a sunburn, but that is impressive, I'll burn after an hour or two. The best thing to do is keep your sunburned skin out of the sun until it heals, which may be several days. Naturally your burned skin wants to stay cool so you could go in cool water, or apply cool water some ice if you want but a sunburn should just go away on it's own.

I went swimming yesterday and my whole front side got burned including my stomach do you think the baby will be okay? It just freaks me out.
