Avatar n tn What is the difference between ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. I haven't had a period for 3 months now and I have a sharp pain in my lower right side, as well as back pain, especially in the mornings. once in a while i am off balance when walking. i am bloated, and a lot of times i don't have an appetite.
Avatar n tn I haven't heard of a link between HPV and ovarian cancer. As for removing the cysts, the best person for advice would be your gyn. If he or she says that it is totally up to you, try to see if they can help outline the risks and benifits to the procedure.
763734 tn?1249384736 Cysts are benign fluid filled sacs and can form almost anywhere in the body. I see no connection between your ovarian cyst and the breast cyst. The only relation between the ovaries and the breast is the Estorgen produced by the ovaries which is in turn related to the tenderness of the breasts and sometimes the increase in the incidence of breast cysts in pre-menopausal women.
Avatar f tn Always irregular and had to have a c-section for 1st born and 2 repeated. aunt had ovarian cancer and great-aunt had breast cancer. I lost almost 80 lbs in 2-3 mnths w/o trying and suffer a severe vit. D def. and folic acid def a few years ago. Just wondering if its a chance of cancer. And Dental problems.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can be benign or malignant but the majority (over 90%) are benign. A lot depends on your age and what type of cyst it is - functional, dermoid, etc. Your doctor hopefully will let you know if there is anything to be concerned about. You can google "ovarian cysts" to get more information so you know what questions to ask at your appointment. Please let us know how it goes.
654396 tn?1237508912 Hi Ladies. Whats the difference between an ovarian tumor and an ovarian cysct? I have an ovarian tumor (10cm) and will be having it removed soon.
Avatar f tn I am no longer taking Evista, but while doing some research to see if I wanted to go back on it for my osteopenia, I found some references to a correlation between Evista and ovarian cancer and wondered if that could have had a bearing on my case. This discussion is related to Evista and Ovarian Cancer.
Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
Avatar f tn I would like to know if there is any genetic link between complex ovarian cysts and ovarian/breast cancer.I know there is sometimes a genetic link between ovarian/breast cancer. If anyone has any info i would apprieciate your replies.
Avatar f tn I had a TVU 3 days ago which showed thickened uterine lining and cysts and fluid on ovaries. I am 49 and perimenopausal with a family history of cancer plus my own breast cancer. I had an endometrial biopsy and await the results and will have a pelvic MRI tomorrow. I am just curious if there is a relationship between the thickened uterine lining and the cysts and fluid on the ovaries. If you've had this experience or know the answer, I'd be so grateful.
Avatar n tn I had mastectomy last year for breast cancer after doing the watch and wait thing so I am not a big fan. I am taking tamoxifen for the breast cancer and between the tamoxifen and an utuerine ablation I had two years ago I am no longer menstruating. However, during the four weeks between my first two ultrasound my uterus appears larger and my endometrium increased from 3.3mm to 5mm. Don't know why endometrium is increasing if I am not having periods.
Avatar f tn 4% chance of ovarian cancer. It is lower if you are under 50. Also it is rare to have ovarian cancer in both ovaries. It happens but it is rare. I had both ovaries but I have the BRCA mutation and I had cancer in 14 places. They could see the cancer on the ultrasound. Over 98% of ovarian cysts are benign. What does your doctor say. You could have Polycystic Ovary syndrome which is not cancerous.
Avatar f tn please help does it sound like ovarian cancer??? I am pre-man. and the day I stated hving this pain I had my period after months of hving it stopped...pls pls some one help me I need to sleep I am going crazy does this sound cancerous to anyone...I do not hv any palvic pain but a touch of back pain.pls help...thank u all...I am a virgin what are my chances pls help...
Avatar f tn 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Most women have several benign ovarian cysts in a life time. Uterine cancer and ovarian are not related which is weird. It is good they are checking. It may all turn out to be benign endometriosis. In the old days if you were past child bearing years they would do a hysterectomy. Now they know how important ovaries are to a woman's over all health and do not take them. Just because they test for cancer does not mean everyone has it.
Avatar f tn t think the fatty liver would cause all of those issues. The usual rule is that ovarian cysts that are over 5cm and complex (have solid parts) are ones that need to be surgically removed to rule out ovarian cancer. Ask for your scan report which will give you the sizes of the adrenal mass and ovarian cysts. An enlarged uterus often happens if you have fibroids. Hopefully, your doctor will be able to give you a action plan soon.
921657 tn?1243700001 ve read them, I would ask my doctor to show me an article that cited *evidence* of a link between cysts and ovarian cancer.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, I cannot comment on anything but the ovarian cysts. Cysts are very common and most resolve on their own. If yours are not large (over 7 cm or so) and you do not have a predisposition for / family history of ovarian cancer, then they can usually be monitored via periodic ultrasound.
Avatar n tn My cyst contains only liquid (the doctor saw it at the ultrasound) and I am 22 years old.If someone has ovarian cancer the ca125 level is regular?Thank you!
Avatar f tn My symptoms are what is bothersome, spotting between periods, pressure in abdomen and pelvis, short of breath, abdominal discomfort and feeling bloated, nausea and sometimes loss of appetite, hard time losing weight, feel full all over when I wake up and excessive gas. I have read symptoms of ovarian cancer and of course it seems I have pretty much all of them so now I flashback to that unexpected pregnancy result last year thinking was I really pregnant or God forbid it's ovarian cancer!!
691076 tn?1228445728 Oddly enough, I tested negative for the BRCA genes and another gene linking ovarian cancer and colon cancer. But, the docs thought my case was interesting, so I gave several vials of blood for research. Maybe there's a gene not yet discovered. The link between mine seems to be the dependence on estrogen. I know that sounds obvious, but many female cancers are not dependent on it. Mine both were. Good luck to you. It's always better to be cautious.
Avatar f tn Although these traits can occur with cancer, they can also occur with benign cysts. And most cysts are benign. The average woman's lifetime risk of ovarian cancer is very low at 1.3%. So if you do not have a genetic predisposition / family history of ovarian cancer then the odds are greatly in your favor that they are benign. Is your doctor monitoring them for now with periodic ultrasounds?
Avatar m tn t see inside and ovarian cancer gets missed so much. I had symptoms and they saw the cysts with me. They did nothing and did not tell me I had cysts because they thought I would worry. By the time they found it in me the cancer was stage 4 and there was not much they could do. Your doctors do not want to be like mine and feeling bad they missed it. Ovarian cysts are usually not that big. If they were you would probably showing cancer in other places near by. Of course you are scared.
Avatar n tn I am one of those lucky patients that developed a rare form of ovarian cancer, and was diagnosed 7yrs later with breast cancer, I am 8yrs out and am now facing an ovarian recurrence. Breast and ovarian cancer are definitely linked! Your Dr should absolutely be able to address all of your questions!
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are very common and affect mainly women in their 30s and 40s. Women who are past menopause (ages 50-70) and have ovarian cysts have a higher risk of having ovarian cancer. The only way to diagnose ovarian cancer is looking at the cells under a microscope. There are tumour markers the doctors can test for called CA-125 and CA19-9 (both are blood tests) however numbers can be higher due to inflammation.
Avatar n tn Most ovarian cysts and masses are benign, even suspicious looking ones. If you do not have a family history or predisposition for ovarian cancer then your lifetime risk is less than 2%. And yes, the CA125 test is not accurate at diagnosing ovarian cancer. Benign (non-cancerous) conditions can cause an elevated result. A friend of mine had a CA125 level over 1000 (VERY HIGH) when she had a benign cyst. She unnecessarily lost not only her ovary but also her uterus and other ovary.
