Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
Avatar f tn Knowing this I asked her again about her symptoms, and she has all the symptoms of ovarian cancer and has had them for a little while before they found the DVT. If anyone has any ideas on what kind of tests she should ask to have run, or just any ideas at all for that matter I would really appreciate the help. Thank You. I also think it is important to mention that the E.R. doctor she saw a year ago was very worried. He told her where there is smoke there is fire.
Avatar f tn suggested you do ? Ovarian Cysts and ovarian cancer can cause many similar symptoms. There is absolutely no way to tell for certain unless and until surgery is performed and the path results come back. Having said that, cysts are very very common and 95% benign. The best course of action is to speak with your physician to see what his recommended course of action is. They may possibly suggest removal, but sometimes, they prefer to wait awhile to see if they resolve themselves.
Avatar n tn Hey there. Ovarian cancer is a rare cancer. But, your symptoms are that of ovca, so just to stay ahead of the game I would schedule an appointment with your gyn. Ask to have a transvaginal ultrasound and ca-125 test if possible. Once you get some further testing, let us know what the results are.
Avatar n tn I have peritoneal cancer ... symptoms exactly same as for ovarian. ONLY a biopsy of tissue can confirm the diagnosis. The cells even look the same as ovarian .. the only difference was that my ovaries were fine .. it started in the "peritoneum" instead of in the ovaries. The peritoneum is thin membrane that lines the abdominal and pelvic cavities, and covers most abdominal viscera. Get yourself to a Gyn initially for the CA125 and possible trans vaginal untra sound ...
600910 tn?1219728369 The symptoms of ovarian cancer are bloating, feeling of fullness, change in bowel habits, fatigue, heartburn. The pain could be cysts bursting. It is very normal for cysts to form on your ovaries at different times in your cycle and sometimes those cysts burst causing a lot of pain. As far as I know, there must be tumors of some sort in order to have OvCa...if there was a cyst in the CT Scan and gone in the sono that the cyst burst or went away.
Avatar f tn Do ovarian cyst symptoms and ovarian cancer symptoms look the same? I ask because I have the following: -gas -bloat/distended stomach -pressure -changes in BM's (constipation and diarrhea) -get full easily after eating -tired/fatigues -heartburn/indigestion -changes in menstruation Thank you.
Avatar n tn If your pelvic ultrasound was unremarkable, it is unlikely that you have ovarian cancer. Usually ovarian cancer presents with complex cystic masses. Diagnostic considerations of postmenopausal bleeding include vaginal atrophy, endometrial atrophy, endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial cancer, endometrial polyp, and medications. Good luck with the biopsy.
Avatar f tn Could somebody tell me the symptoms of Ovarian Cancer? I am scared that i might have it.
Avatar m tn At such a young age it can be dermoid cyst which is a type of complex ovarian cyst and is the most common type and develops during the childbearing age. Complex ovarian cysts are generally benign. The risk of malignancy is generally higher among postmenopausal women. You should get a repeat ultrasound and CT scan done. A CA125 blood test should also be performed.
Avatar f tn s as a guide to determine if you might have the most common form of ovarian cancer, approximately 80% of all ovarian cancers are epitheal ovarian cancer which is cancer of the cells on the surface of your ovary. Please keep in mind that CA-125 can be elevated if your menstruating and some other cuases of inflamation.. There are other types of ovarian cancer that are hormone driven and depending which form a person has there will be excess symptoms of that specific hormone.
Avatar f tn That's the thing. Symptoms of early ovarian cancer are SO subtle and are often things we experience for other reasons. Some women have GI difficulty, a bit of middle girth gain, bloating, nausea, loss of appetite. But truthfully, a lot of women have few if any symptoms early on. It's normally diagnosed in later stages because of this and even then symptoms are very subtle and vague. Why are you associating ovarian cancer with your symptoms?
Avatar n tn By the way, I was a caregiver for my mother in law who had ovarian cancer. For the majority of OV patients, they have very few symptoms for a very long time. Not until the cancer progresses do they begin to experience things that they KNOW aren't right. Much feel like 'woman issues' or gastrointestinal issues. Then when diagnosed, the cancer is in later stages which is most unfortunate.

534546 tn?1225027975 As one who has Ovarian Cancer, the only way to tell is a biopsy .. it rules cancer in or out. Dr. Goodman did give the proper sequence of events. Find a Gyn/Oncologist. They have the most experience dealing with Ovarian issues/masses. Then the MD will suggest either a laparoscopy to "see" what is there or full surgery and hysterectomy (which is what I had). Once the tumor(s) are biopsied, you will have your diagnosis. Hopefully and prayerfully, everything will be benign.
Avatar f tn With BRCA you have a 40% of ovarian and a 90% of Breast Cancer. The breast cancer is usually triple negative breast cancer. I am not sure if that is because most women develop the breast cancer after you have had all your organs removed and you no longer have much estrogen. If you do not have triple negative breast cancer perhaps it means you do not have the BRCA mutation.
Avatar n tn What is the difference between ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. I haven't had a period for 3 months now and I have a sharp pain in my lower right side, as well as back pain, especially in the mornings. once in a while i am off balance when walking. i am bloated, and a lot of times i don't have an appetite.
Avatar n tn I went to my primary who thought it was appendicitis on examination even though I mentioned a history of ovarian cysts in my mother, and my aunt died of cancer. The doctor sent me to the emergency room. I underwent a CT scan (which was "normal") and an ultrasound. (I never got the reports.) The ultrasound tech said that it was difficult to "see anything." She said that there was so much contrast from the CT that she could not see my ovaries.
Avatar f tn I was dx at age 37 with stage 1a ovarian cancer. I am glad I reported my symptoms to my gyn. I never suspected ovarian cancer. My main issue was urinary urgency and frequency. The odds are in your favor that it isn't ovarian cancer but it never hurts to investigate symptoms. Best of luck to you.
Avatar n tn A ct scan is sometimes carried out if ovarian cancer is suspected and you are having symptoms . A diagnosis of ovarian cancer can only for definate be made after pathology review with samples from the tissue. Are you having symptoms ? . A bit more info if possible would be helpful thanks.
