Avatar m tn She was admitted to the hospital but died six days later. According to NBC News San Diego, Erick's autopsy report concluded she died of "severe anoxic brain injury secondary to cardiopulmonary arrest, most likely due to turmeric infusion." Avatar m tn Try quinoa instead It's a seed high in protein it's not a grain. The Journal of Organic Systems found pigs fed genetically engineered food were much more likely to suffer from severely inflamed stomachs. I guess it's happening to people. The main ingredient in Roundup, is the chemical nonorganic farmers spray on GMO crops. So much is applied and taken up inside of the plant that the U.S. government keeps increasing the limits allowed in our food.
Avatar n tn I saw someone on the news had an enlarged heart. I was wondering what this is, and how do you know if you have it? Now, i'm afraid i'll have it. Over the past 4 months, I've had 5 physical exams, chest x-ray, holter, ekg, blood work, and echo. Avatar f tn This is related to insulin resistance/pre-diabetes and if left untreated can become full blown type II diabetes. Insulin resistance is also related to a condition called Metabolic Syndrome, which is a cluster of conditions, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high trigylcerides, high blood sugar, obesity (excess fat around the middle). The components of Metabolic Syndrome are often present with hypothyroidism.
Avatar m tn As we mentioned earlier, pigs are very sensitive to the stench of a patient's body, and the patient is close to the pig farm to make all the pigs mad. Then we can prove it by the reaction of pigs. Experimental procedure: We invited three healthy volunteers with no body odor and three patients with "PATM" to participate in the experiment. First, let three "PATM" patients stay away from the pig farm at least 2000 meters (why is it 2000 meters?

921323 tn?1268679412 Put the money towards the health costs of the uninsured. Or, use it to fund research in diabetes, heart disease, or any of the other countless complications of obesity. But is it too early to admit defeat? If we had done the same for cholesterol medications or diabetes medications, or even smoking patches and pills, we’d be paying for it in countless ways. So is there something unique about developing medications for obesity?
Avatar f tn My diabetes brought it out. My GP caught it, enrolled me in a program at MCV in Richmond, VA with Dr. Schiffman. This past April 14th, 2009 marked my 1 yr anniversary of it being over and done. I have to admit, it was a little rough. My red count cells went down to 8.2 and I was almost cancelled from the program. But because of my determination on making it through and pleading, they gave me another month and my red count cells came back up to a level the doctors would allow to continue.

Obesity may be a separate risk factor. Persons > 60 may have some immunity to the H1N1 virus if they were exposed to H1N1 in 1976 or earlier outbreaks.
Avatar f tn They come from pigs (nothing against pigs), which produce much more T3 than humans do. The human body produces approximately 100 mcg of T4 daily and only 6 mcg of T3 daily. The remainder of T3 used by our cells is converted from the T4. Most of the conversion is done in the liver, but some is done in other organs, including the cells. Levothyroxine, on the other hand, is (supposed to be) identical to what our bodies would produce if they could.
233622 tn?1279338505 Hey LA, I too hear you!!! Sweet Pea, I'm going to tell you something I learnt when i was told my son had Asperger's, making him the 5th family member who would always need something more than the norm, it was overwhelming news. "Pick your battles and dont sweat the little things" at the time I thought it was a grossly over simplified but it helped me let go of the unimportant and have the strength to go into battle when ever I needed too.

Avatar f tn It is not meant to offend anyone, it is a humorous play of words. It has been said that pigs would fly before a black man becomes president of the USA. Well, we now have a black president and the pig flu. (swine flu) My fibromyalgia gives me more trouble that MS. It was explained to me by a brilliant neurologist that many patients with fibromyalgia tend to have a milder course of MS disease. (lucky me!

Avatar m tn He was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 10, which made things that much worse, but had nothing to do with ADHD. I think there needs to be more education about ADHD (maybe even change the name?), so that everyone will look for those root problems and eliminate them/rule them out, before tacking on an ADHD diagnosis. I also think that with proper education, some of the "stigma" of such a diagnosis would disappear.
734073 tn?1278899925 I first wanted to find out if NT worked for me, obviously since because its available here. I realy wanted it to work. Bummed . On my super low labs, it appeared to make the FT4 and FT3 way more separated in their fanges compared to other brands. It like my FT3 was gone and FT3 was more potent on NT. FT3 is what rules your med intake and maybe the ratio of t3 to t4 in your body from the med.
543518 tn?1245325627 Wednesday morning, I overslept having stayed up late watching the election news. The truck had passed my house, but turned around to exit the development and I ran out with my recycle bin. The driver stopped and laughed at me running out to catch him. I said that I stayed up late watching the results. He got out of the cab, walked up to me, introduced himself and shook my hand. I thought he wanted a tip, since I put out more than my share of boxes, having just moved.
Avatar m tn I read about clomipramine online, and it doesn’t sound to normal (side effects) and as if olonzapine is already not enough. I have diabetes in my family and Olonzapine increases my chances for diabetes , other side effects etc. So I am just avoiding clomipramine for now and getting by olonzapine. My emotional problem is under control because I take olonzapine regularly. I tried to come off many times and I have been unsuccessful for 4 times now.
475555 tn?1469307939 A newly-released study shows that data from trials does not correlate well with data from real life. The statistical study revealed that four times as many patients treating with a Sovaldi regime stopped treatment before finishing than in trials. probably the same discrepancy exists regarding cure/relapse rates and maybe even adverse effects. https://www.google.com/url?rct=j&sa=t&url=http://www.modernhealthcare.
Avatar f tn In several labs, scientists study how to build on the internal scaffolding of hearts, lungs, livers of people and pigs to make custom-made implants. There's a really long web address....I found it just by searching "growing organs in lab in north Carolina". Then of course there is the usual reiterate... should this really be done...isn't against this and that...you know those people are sitting on a transplant list waiting.
Avatar n tn About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with hypothyriodism. After seeing many drs for many different symtoms my neurologist ran a TSH test. He called with the news that I would finally feel better soon!!! My tsh was 281 and all I had to do was take a little pill every day and I would be all better. I think I cried for the next few hours because I was so relieved that I had some answers, that someone believed how bad I felt, and I now knew I wasn't dying!
Avatar m tn I admit it has been difficult, but dealing with diabetes and heart disease is worse. I am seing first hand on my husband what type 2 diabetes can do, even though he is well controlled. He also has 3 stents and now a pacemaker. I am considerd overweight by 10 pounds. And yes, I have a belly. It's all in my belly, hips and thighs, and of course I am somewhat flabby.

1162347 tn?1293506770 Thanks so much for your reply, I am alone, in a foreign country and no one to vent with. Believe me I did not vent in my first post, I needed to ask for opinions because though I have been very strong with my first issue I am now scared to death. You see, in my whole life I have never had an operation or any parts of my body removed I guess that also plays into my nervousness.
Avatar f tn For people who follow HCV news...... vitamins D3 and B vitamins have been in the news lately...... for years...... 5ish years. If the doctor is pooh poohing taking these.....why not print off some studies? I also don't think selenium, zinc and vit A would be bad choices. Coffee has also been in the news as raising response/ success rates. I have sometimes wondered..... why don't doctors do things which may help response........
Avatar f tn I read about this 'self insured group' in our main news paper. Its based in our capitol, St Paul. I have no experience as a patient there, but I just thought its a great idea and hope that it spreads to other areas. Its truly amassing to me that this state, with the Mayo clinic here on the south side, has no better health care than other states. The majority of doctors around here treat Hashimoto with only T4 meds per TSH values. Thats why I was still sick 10 years after diagnosis.
