9088869 tn?1401643539 Although he's an endo (FACE = Fellow of the American College of Endocrinologists), many endos really specialize in diabetes and have little interest in thyroid. If I were you, I'd probably press him to test FT3 and TSI (along with FT4 and TSH at your next labs), and if he balks at all, move onto another doctor. When are you scheduled for more blood work?

Avatar n tn Has anyone had this experience? Especially because of all the news of how this could be the standard to treat diabetes reports on the evening news...i am really upset and somewhat depressed. Has anyone had the same results as myself or have an idea why i reacted this way? The best thing that happened to me is that I am on Januvia (added to Lantus, metformin regimen) thats a good thing!!
Avatar n tn I just turned 59 and suddenly developed all the symptoms of type 1 diabetes. My wife had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a few months earlier and because she had a glucometer I had tested my glucose to find it was normal. I am wondering how I can develop diabetes overnight without any previous symptoms. It seems strange that both of us get diabetets at about the same time but different types of diabetets. Any thoughts?

There was recently reports on a procedure done in Brazil on kids as young as 14 using stem cells which has reversed the diabetes of 12 of 15 of the kids in the test. It is a procedure which is not allowed in the US because of how dangerous it is.
Avatar m tn Barber's interest in the topic arose when he encountered a 30-something stroke patient who had none of the typical risk factors associated with stroke such as hypertension or diabetes -- but the patient smoked pot. He and his colleagues then searched the literature and found similar case reports associating marijuana smoking with stroke in younger adults who did not have typical risk factors.
180861 tn?1218804790 since October and my last two follow ups have been nerve racking waiting to hear whether it's back. I have read soooo many reports of people who have beat 2, 3, and 4 recurrences. There are so many different treatments they can try and they're always working on more! You have youth on your side, too! I don't know if you're religious or spiritual but prayer got me through (and I wasn't much of either before my diagnosis).

Avatar m tn A good majority of them say they are diabetic and it is caused by a spike in your blood sugar levels. My doctor just took me off of my diabetes medication, after my last AIC came back noraml(Actually the last 3 reports were normal) I was ecstatic, because Ive been diabetic for the last 10 years.(Type-2 Adult Onset) They say mine is probably an adverse reaction to coming off the meds so quickly. I quite agree. Going back to my doctor this week and will give updates as I get them.
Avatar m tn Try testing postprandial at 2.5 and 3 hrs. If your glucose still reads over 100 mg/dl then something in your meal plan needs to be avoided. Foods high in simple carbohydrates and sugar [fruits too] will elevate your glucose above normal. Good luck with the Urologist.
Avatar m tn //www.lifescan.com/diabetes/news/20071231elin022/ About six months ago, I was experiencing the dawn phenomenon consistently. I tried several different things I found after searching the internet. This included drinking about 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider close to bedtime The consistent answer I found was to drop some weight. I also found information about alcohol with meals. There is many more sighting and reports of them occurring most frequently whereas the bible states there is nothing new. Meaning they are getting bolder showing their selves.

Avatar m tn That’s because statins significantly increase your risk of diabetes. That means millions of people taking the drugs now have to decide which is worse… heart disease or diabetes. An epic study shows that specific dietary changes can reduce your risk of heart disease by 81 percent – without resorting to statin drugs. And leading doctors agree that combatting heart disease through diet isn’t just safer… it’s far more effective too.
Avatar m tn Hi again Emily I wonder if you received reports of synch problems with the iPhone or with the use of trackers, only in my case or if you have had other similar reports. I say this because I tried in recording the exercises done in the last month also on the website (which now appear only on the iPhone) but I got the error message, which seems strange as it should not affect the sync.
