402205 tn?1230481005 I had a CT and it showed a lot of nasal congestion but very little sinus. It also showed a slightly deviated septum and nasal polyps on the middle turbinate. What do you suggest I do?
Avatar f tn I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.
Avatar f tn Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?
Avatar f tn Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.
Avatar m tn i began to worry about my health i started researching about my problem in the internet and found out that i have deviated septum. but still not 100% sure about it so i also consulted an ENT. it took me almost half of my life to determine the problem in my nose that had altered my life. I had my deviated septum fix but didnt fix it 100% as they informed me that it may take 2 operation to entirely fix it as it was completely deviated to the left and its all crooked up to the back of my nose.
Avatar n tn A combination of chronic allergy and a deviated nasal septum could also be causing your symptoms of sinusitis. Resolving these issues might help reduce your symptoms. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the most common cause for sinusitis is Deviated nasal septum (DNS). This condition leads to obstruction and breathing difficulty. This can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc. You need to undergo detailed examination of nose and radiography of the sinuses to rule out existing sinusitis.

846812 tn?1239034209 Maxillary sinusitis does cause cheek pain. Ethmoid sinusitis causes nose pain. Deviated nasal septum can be surgically corrected and will reduce your symptoms.Steam inhalation before bed time, raising the head end of bed, drinking plenty of hot fluids and doing deep breathing exercises too will help. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your ENT about surgery of DNS and surgical drainage of sinuses.

Avatar m tn The common causes for such nasal blockage, including nasal polyps and sinus infection. Deviated nasal septum (DNS) can also leads to obstruction. The sinus infection also leads to headache. Another important but rare possibility is Sjögren's syndrome. This is a rare disorder and is also associated with dryness of mouth and eye. You need to undergo detailed examination of nose and radiography of the sinuses to rule out existing sinusitis.
Avatar m tn when this happened more frequently, my ENT doc asked to get CT Scan which showed sinus infections mainly on right side and deviated septum towards right side. He told to take antibiotics and it would go away and nothing to worry about deviated septum as most people have it. I didn't feel much problem with sinus infection. But problem is frequent throat infections. After many visits my doctor diagnosed that i have tonsil deposits and he took white coloured structure from throat.
Avatar n tn I look up sinusitis symptoms, but rarely do I find anyone who has issue with mucus and breathing unless its thru their nose . The Dr thinks I may have chronic sinusitis from a deviated septum ..
Avatar m tn Chronic sinusitis can be caused by infections of the upper respiratory tract, allergies and deviated nasal septum .Other suspected causes include mold or fungi in the sinuses.Diagnosis is confirmed by x-rays and CT sinuses.Treatment includes antibiotics(for acute attacks),decongestants, corticosteroids(nasal sprays and oral) and surgery in severe cases.Pls consult an ENT specialist and get it evaluated. Avatar f tn Hey all, I'm getting slightly concerned about a lump on my nose. It's on the right side along the bridge. It's a few mm in size, but obviously on the nose it stands out a bit. Background information. I'm 27, Male, ex smoker. I have chronic sinusitis and a deviated septum, these will be operated on within the next couple of months so hopefully I'll be able to breathe again.
Avatar n tn A lot of times antibiotics don't work, didn't work for me for 5 years. The reason is because a sinus infection is different than any other sort of infection in the body. Here is the model of sinus infections and the best treatment http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn Chronic sinusitis can be caused by infections of the upper respiratory tract, allergies and deviated nasal septum .Other suspected causes include mold or fungi in the sinuses. Transillumination test and X-Ray or CT sinuses can help in diagnosing it. Till the cause is treated, chronic sinusitis cannot be treated. So I think that an allergist’s and a simultaneous ENT surgeon’s opinion will be the best in confirming a diagnosis.

876847 tn?1240239287 I RECENTLY HAD SINUS X-RAYS AND THEY DID NOT SHOW ANY DEVIATED SEPTUM OR ANYTHING THEY JUST DIAGNOSED IT AS A SINUS INFECTION AND GAVE ME BACTRUM. THE ANTIBIOTIC CLEARED IT UP FOR ABOUT A WEEK THEN IT CAME BACK EVEN WORSE.
Avatar m tn I've been diagnost with a deviated septum and excercised induced astma and was wondering if any one had septum fixed? Would it help with sinus infections and breathing for asthma? Any deviated septum repair stories out there?
Avatar f tn I have asthma, acid reflux, chronic sinusitis, and a deviated septum. Over the past 2 years I've been having worsening issues with coughing after eating. I feel like I have a lot of post nasal drip and heartburn as well. I often cough up clear mucus until I vomit especially if I eat heavy meals which I try to avoid. Pasta seems to be a major trigger. I take medicines for all of my health issues. I keep a dry tickling cough during the day also.
626646 tn?1242907042 Hello, Various causes for chronic post nasal drip are allergies, viral infections, deviated nasal septum, chronic sinusitis, adenoid enlargement and diseases like sarcoidosis and GERD. Pls check out with an ENT specialist if you are having chronic rhinitis or sinusitis or deviated nasal eptum. If you have chronic sinusitis then it can lead to continuous production of mucus and less drainage leading to post nasal drip.Transillumination test and X-Ray or CT sinuses can help in diagnosing it.
Avatar n tn re only getting worse. My CT scan was negative for chronic sinusitis but showed a slight deviated septum with a bone spur. The congestion was not in my sinuses but rather in my upper nasal cavity. My nose isn't realIy runny but I get a ton of post nasal drip that makes me feel as though I am drowning. I got allergy testing done and I am not allergic to anything.
