Common Questions and Answers about Deviated septum nose injuries

deviated-septum

Avatar n tn I'm hoping this is just residual swelling, but I was wondering if it could possibly be from damage to her nose. (A few friends have had to get surgery to fix deviated septums caused by childhood injuries, and I'm wondering if this kind of damage is a possibility.
Avatar n tn I have probably been diagnosed with sinutitis as well. I also have a deviated septum. No blows to the head like so many have mentioned. Just writing this makes me feel much better. I will probalby see my GP for the ear pain soon as I have already planned to do. If anything out of the norm I will post back.
Avatar n tn A few years ago I had correction of a deviated septum and while they were in there they layered my turbinates to help chronic sinusitis. Between the two...much relief of long-suffering. I constantly felt like I had just accidentally gotten a snoot full of dirty pool water up my nose and got 5 to 10 bad infections a year. No more of that. May 1 or 2 a year, usually following a nasty cold, like a normal person. Took a long time to recover from surgery.
Avatar n tn I'm in Michigan. I feel like my nose is broken....no injuries, sinus problems, congestion..... It starts at the spot where the bone and cartilage meet and goes upward. No redness or bruising. I have had a pain behind my right eye for three days now and when I press on my bridge of the nose my pain behind the eye gets worse. Anyone have that?
Avatar n tn I suggested maybe it was my sinuses, he did a CT scan of them and said my sinuses were clear, but I do have a severely deviated septum, which I do not think is contributing to these problems, since I have had no injuries to my nose, this would lead me to believe that I have had this issue all of my life (deviated septum). I have been checked for thyroid problems twice and my BP is good. I have seen a dentist and do not have TMJ or any abscesses.
Avatar m tn deviated septum, but any doctor can see if you have one or not, so again, what you might need most is a different doctor. I have a deviated septum from nose injuries from basketball, but I still breathe through my nose. You really need to see a specialist who can properly diagnose you, as it really sounds like you have an obstruction somewhere and surgery can fix some of the causes of that and a device can fix some others.
Avatar n tn I had repair for a deviated septum from a broken nose over a year ago. I have lost my sense of smell, still have crusting in my right nostril. I also feel like at times i cant get enough oxygen at night and wake up gasping for air. I still have pain and am always runny or stuffy. New problem is my right ear always feels like it is full of fluid. my ent doesnt seemed concerned, says the surgery was sucessful but i feel like i am worse off now. anyone else having these problems still?
Avatar f tn I am a middle-aged male with a history of GAD, OCD, Panic Disorder, Tourette's Syndrome, Depression, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (as a child), Bi-Polar Disorder (a recent diagnosis), severe stress-intolerance, Cervical Arthritis at C4/C5 (w/bone spur), Chronic Sinusitis, Allergic Rhinitis, Deviated Septum, IBS, Diverticulosis, GERD and Gastritis.
Avatar n tn Plus I seem to have a circulation problem, freezing and then super HOT. Stuffy nose when I lay down due to a deviated septum, and my joints hurt in the morning or after a hard work out. But on occasions. After taking an antibiotic lately they even seemed to hurt less. and I sometimes get such a pain in between my eyes that I cant stand the pain and take an Aleve and alway feel better afterwards.
Avatar m tn They showed a sinus infection and deviated septum (no tumors)but he doesn't feel they are causing the dizziness. So he is sending me to a neurologist. I'm scared to death at what he will find. I'm a 44 yr. old white male in good shape and up until now felt very healthy. I haven't had any head injuries. I'm also frustrated and scared that the sinuitis hasn't gone away. Any ideas? I've never been so worried or depressed in my life. Thank you.
Avatar m tn • A defect or injury in the cartilage of the nose, called a deviated septum, can cause chronic blockage in the nasal area. This may be corrected by surgery. • Other irritants can inflame the nasal passages, such as air pollution, cigarette smoke, cigar smoke, and perfumes made from synthetic ingredients. Once again, see your doctor, or avoid the irritants. • Asthma is an immune disease, and asthma sufferers are highly susceptible to sinusitis.
Avatar f tn An ENT would be needed if you deviated your septum or something like that. Any trained physician can look up your nose and see if there is damage. Seeing a doctor is what's going to really help you right now! Please don't be ashamed... there are millions out there that have snorted pills. Or snorted coke. Or snorted adderal. You made a mistake, you're only human. We all are. No here is acting shocked that you snorted pills, many have done it, and many saw doctors.
Avatar m tn I've been diagnosed with everything from maxillary antral disease to deviated septum to panic disorder to seizure disorder, to allergic asthma, to farsightedness, nearsightedness, bilateral stigmatisms and a lazy eye to life long untreatable post nasal drip to migraines to agoraphobia to unexplained insomnia to unexplained rapid heartbeat to unexplained chest pains. AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING ANYONE COULD DO!! It's sooo frustrating to be fighting your own body for your health.
Avatar n tn a benign polyp is removed and the deviated septum is fixed on the right side (where I still have the problems - the CT scan of the sinuses and the MRI of the head do not show anything) and the inverted papilloma removed on the left side twice. I also had my tonsils removed recently. The alergies and the sinusitis were ruled out. The blood tests are fine (other than the WBC count that I mentioned earlier). The antibiotics do not help.
Avatar n tn Hi,Ihave had cronic sinus problems for years, partly I believe is hereditary,my father and grandfather had sinus problems as well, and also because I was born with a cleft palate.Because on the deviated septum this adds makes drainage of the sinuses almost impossible.I also get allergies in the summer and fall. All the nasal sprays, ect, don't do much for me.I found it interesting to hear about other people getting the "brain fog" you mentioned as I get this a lot.
Avatar n tn My allergist think surgery (ballon) for deviated septum from broken nose may help. (i also chickened out from reconstructive surgery-i can still breathe air well from deviated side) Balloon procedure, yes, i'd do it if it'd help keep infections down! There is almost constant post nasal drip that has a bad taste when I swallow, although only clear stuff drips out. I feel the sphenoid sinuses are infected & antibiotics just can't jill all the leftover culprits (or get in there).
Avatar n tn I went back to the ENT to talk about the deviated septum. He said that my deviation is actually touching the turbinates on the right side of my nose. He then processed to push the blame on my allergist and then prescribed me Singular. I told him that I was not going to drop another $40 on medication that he was guessing that will help me. He gave me a 24 day supply but said that it might take over a month's worth of the medicine for it to "Kick In".
Avatar n tn And if I try and blow my nose I get a shooting pain from my nose to my right front right tooth like its about to pop. Thank you for this post, I have been looking everywhere and there have been no resolution posts until I found this thread. Kind of a bummer to know that it takes so long to repair, but I guess its better than never.
Avatar n tn Because years ago I had such a blocked nose along with ear pressure and couldn't take it. So I had 2 nose surgery's for a deviated septum and right now I can breath fantastic. But like you said as for me too I thought this would (of course fix my nose) but fix my ear fullness as well, but it didn't. My ears pop all the time and even with a little noise my right ear crackles everytime, it *****.
Avatar n tn Went back to doctor for follow up and results of ct scan of sinusus , was told i have a deviated nasal septum 6 weeks of nose spray, if that doesnt work i will have to have septum surgery, hoping that and allergy testing will stop my ears from all the noices and pain and unclog my left ear. has anyone had septum surgery and if yes did it help your eustation tube dysfunction?
Avatar n tn it must be a NUCCA Specialist) I had symptoms that I never would have related to being connected. Jaw clicking, deviated septum, chronic sinus issues, pain in left hip, digestive issues, lower back pain, the list goes on.
Avatar m tn I started on insulin therapy immediately. Other than the surgery for the deviated septum that led up to my osteomyelitis, I've only had one other surgery, and that was a cardiac cath about a year and a half before. No other injuries. I'd only had 2 stitches in my life, and they were for the cath procedure. I have been involved in emergency services as an EMT/Firefighter/Police Officer for over 25 years.
Avatar n tn I have suffered from ETD for a year and and half but only was diagnosed last week. Have had surgery on nose, septoplasty, to straighten septum for I could breathe properpely. This did not help with the ETD, have had usual nasal sprays, nothing helps. I am trying a dairy free diet as years ago I went to a homeopath due to my asthma and be put me on a dairy free diet. It really helped my asthma and I felt really fit.
Avatar n tn 5 to 12 times Once you are better, continue the pranayam once a day. Be patient, as the benefits will show up gradually.Only by doing you will benefit and feel good because you are helping your body. Those who say I have tried everything.... will be amazed at the result of doing pranayam.
Avatar n tn As of 2/8/07 the pain is starting in the ears, was all on right, now equal. I'm still over a week away from my Eye/Ear/ Nose Dr. appt. I've had relief from a bi-weekly Chiropractor ( headaches 95% and neck will improve for 2 to 4 days ).I had had a flu type problem right before this occured. ( 57 yr. old female in good health ) Can anyone help?
Avatar n tn Interestingly, after being reassured it went away for the rest of the day. Did the test down the nose, which must be their gold standard test for ENT docs. He is excellent and has an excellent bedside manner. He really listened and has the gift of persuasion as well. I'm hopeful that it is stress. Dinner time was frustrating as heck though so I'm not so sure. He said see him in two months as a follow up to the syndrome but he's so popular I can't get in until January 09. Maybe I'll be cured.
Avatar n tn itching around the eyes and nose, acne (on face and neck), sores on the outer lips, and fatigue. I feel alone and am making myself an outcast from society. This feels like an airborn virus but besides the dermatological aspect, I do not feel sick at all. I wish someone could help me. Any suggestions would help.
Avatar m tn I find that when I put pressure on my nose or rub my eye I am also blocking some of my field of vision with my hand or actually touching one eye so that I can still see out of the other one but no longer out of that eye.
Avatar n tn I also get these weird sensations in my nose maybe my sinuses feels like blood is rushing to my nose.No vertigo no syncope yet.Blood pressure is usually normal but at last ER doc says it was marginal.Been to volunteer clinic because I'm poor they are in a long (mounth and a half now)process of getting me a an apointment for nuero in OKC.3 mounths of these symptoms coming and going and my anxiety is at an all time high.I'm in fear of my symptoms.
Avatar n tn I have nasal congestion (left side only) and have had two nose surgeries which did not help. When that side of my nose closes up I feel dizzy and light headed. When I walk around I feel like I'm going sideways and am afraid I will fall. Even when I sit I feel like I'm going to just fall over. When my nose opens up, which isn't very often I feel more normal. I've taken allergy shots which didn't help and had CT of sinuses which was clear. Every day I get up and feel the same way.
